There are two different O Caçula. The original is a full restaurant, adjacent to tourist sites. This location has the added word Cervejaria in its name and is a casual eatery, beverage, brewery, grab-a-snack-and-drink place. It was a hot afternoon, and we were exhausted from the heat. We walked a block perpendicular away from tourist sites than started to search for a place to rest (our rule when traveling). O Caçula Cervejaria is absolutely perfect for what we wanted. They have these gigantic brewery canisters right in the restaurant itself. (See photo) We were in the only customers at that moment, and the staff was super patient with us explain their beers and their menus. We wanted to drink everything in sight as well as use their bathroom, which is tiny but doable. I definitely recommend walking the extra steps to relax here.
The Food and Drinks:
Orange Weiss, 6.50€ for 40cl - 5+ Stars
He recommended this orange influenced beer, and he was spot on. It is incredible!! Super delicious with a unique flavor. Highly, highly recommend their custom craft beers.
Fresh squeezed Orange Juice, 2.90€ - 4.5 Stars
Much cheaper than what I would pay in the US, this hit the spot.
Bifanas, 3.50€ - 5 Stars
Portugal has a simple dish that is unique to their culture. Called bifanas, they are a traditional Portuguese sandwich made with thin slices of pork that are marinated, simmered, and served on a soft roll. Each region has their own take on this sandwich. O Caçula Cervejaria sells theirs as a Porto version. It is delicious, and the price is a bargain by our standards! Swimming in a house sauce, this simple sandwich is very flavorful. This sandwich is commonly found under snack, tapa, or appetizer. Their version is our favorite from the entire trip.
Cappuccino, 2.50€ - 2 Stars
The only fail from this stop is their cappuccino. Watery and lacked flavor; it was quite terrible. I decided not to ding their overall rating, because service was excellent and we very much enjoyed our other drinks and the bifanas. read more
