If you're up for a beer, that's the place to go. With a very good ambiance, nice pool tables, three different environments and a great beer menu, O'Malley's is one of the best places I went in SP. The groups that play there are normally awesome. A particular group, which I don't recall the name, was three people that sounded like a full five-people band. Vivid sound and very well played. I'll start off with the disclaimer that I'm not an Irish Pub kind of guy. But I came here last night with colleagues and had an enjoyable time. We started in the downstairs area, which has a small but sufficient bar, and then moved upstairs, where there was a live band performing a mix of Brazilian and American songs. The bar service was about average speed, as far as pubs go. I'd recommend upgrading your caipirinha to Nega Fulô from their house standard. There was a R$15 charge to get in, which is super reasonable with htel live band--actually, ridiculously cheap by American standards, given the current exchange rate that makes it $3.75 for entrance. Word to the wise: The bathrooms are in a sub-upstairs area from the main upstairs area (if you're on the second floor, you'll see what I mean). Surprisingly clean for an Irish pub. They also use a card system where, upon entry, they give you a card to which you'll charge all your food and drinks, and then pay at booths on the way out. Even though it was a bit crowded, the place had a very friendly environment. People weren't pushing you out of the way or anything like that, which was refreshing. If there's a game to catch, O'Malley's is likely to cater to your viewing needs with all their 10 or more TVs. It seems you can't round a corner without spotting a flat screen. This Irish pub charged me an entrance fee (it was the World Cup after all), but made up for it with the Old Speckled Hen on draught (a rare find for São Paulo)! The food menu features a lot of hearty staples, and my favorite is that they have an entire page dedicated to potato dishes. The place was packed but it was also quite festive. Sports bars/ pubs in SP are hard to come by. So for SP standards, this one is actually really nice.. Comparing to other countries sports bars however, this one is slacking. The ambiance is very pub like. When you walk in there is the bar and some other high tops to sit at with a few TV's. The lack of TV's is my main issue here... there are so few you have to be sitting in the right spot to see the game you want. The food here is actually delicious!! I've tried several menu items and liked all of them. The prices for food are very reasonable. The beers are pricey, but they are pricey everywhere here. My other issue is they have a wide selection of beers on the menu, but both times I've been they have been out of several of the ones I wanted. I really had fun here both times despite the minor issues. If you are a foreigner in SP definitely come here and you will find some gringo friends very easily! read more

I've been going here for about a year to watch my beloved Man Utd play. As sports bars go it's not great in comparison with other countries I've been to but for São Paulo it's the best I know. On a few occasions the bar man has refused to turn off the music so I've had to endure classic rock/pop music while trying to focus on the game with zero atmosphere in the pub. The pub itself is disjointed. There's a bar area when you walk in, a larger area out the back and another room upstairs where the band play. It's quite a small area upstairs so if you want to see the band be prepared to be squashed!! I'd rather a more open pub where you could randomly run into friends and see/hear the band no matter where you were in the pub. The girls that work on the floor are very polite and helpful, unlike the men behind the bar. They can be rude and never say please or thank you and often they see me with my card in the air and ignore me. I've have stayed after watching a game until the early hours of the morning and the atmosphere is great. It's very easy to make new friends and have fun with old ones. Overall as a sports bar it's poor but has a great atmosphere in the evenings. read more

Many years ago I tried to go to O'Malleys to watch a football game. The place was so packed I gave up. Last weekend, I had some American friends visiting who wanted to watch the wild card weekend games...Same thing. To make the long story short: yes it seems like a fun place to watch games but extremely crowded, if you don't get there early don't even bother. The worst part is that I spoke to the manager regarding this section upstairs that was closed and could fit a lot of people that were there to eat/drink/spend some money...He mentioned that he would open that area "in a few"...we waited until halftime and no signs of opening it. Some guy (customer) walked by us and told us the manager said it would open but that was an hour prior to my request. They also wouldn't open the other section upstairs because there was gonna be a band "later"...funny fact, the tv stays on the whole time w no sound so I don't understand how that could possibly interrupt the band. Bad business. Lots of people got upset and left, so did we. They don't care about the customers. Just find another bar and ask them to put the game on if that's what you're looking for! read more

Every time I have no idea where to go, I think about this place!! It's an irish pub with a cool vibe!! Lots of gringos too. They don't have a large selection of beer, but they have some good beer. It's a good place to catch a game (football, UEFA or rugby). At night, there's a band playing upstairs. The bands are are the same that play all around the pubs in Sao Paulo. So, expect some rock/pop music. The place is big, with a bar at entrance, an area with tables, billiards at the back of the bar and the band stage upstairs. I only tried the burger, which is ok. Great bar I love this place,always go with my friend to watch the football and have a few pints,the drink is bosta unfortunately,but there are good people in this bar who are there to enjoy them selfs,happy hours is great and u can get a pint of Heineken for 7rs,they even bring out free food at 6 o'clock and when it's empty the fill it back up,it's usually bread,patay,and maybe beef stir fry and it's actually very nice considering its free. No matter when you come it's always a fun time. Atmosphere is great, and when they have the live music upstairs it gets so fun and everyone starts singing and dancing. Great place to socialize and meet new friends and grab a drink. They do charge a cover or at least they did when I came before, but it weeds out the people and you get a better crowd better. But on the weekends it is really crowded. If you go late you will have extremely big lines to come in The smoking area is terrible, so if you smoke, be patient! Giant lines to smoke a cigarette. And after 10 PM, do not speak loud! Its a pub, but you have to pay to get in, I'll never understand that... At least, the prices are a little bit lower compared to other pubs in São Paulo. The foods have an awesome price, if you see the size of the portions, you'll see that everything is well served . The workers in there are not friendly at the most of the time, and sometimes they are rude. The place has it owns pros and cons... There is always a problem. Ok, this is not a first option kind of place. But after trying a few times, I am convinced it's not even worth as a last option either. From bad service and hygiene, to rude, unprepared staff, not even the calories you burn by walking there from your car make it worth to go there. Last time I payed by card. The cashier said the operation hadn't gone through, refused to give me the machine last operation statement, made me pay again but the amount was charged twice from my card. Bad service. This place kicked off our night out in Sao Paulo divinely. Enormous place with several different seating areas and bars as well as a live music stage and dance area, and an area with pool tables. Feels like an Irish pub upon walking in with the dark wooden bars lining the front room. The food was delicious and big portion sizes. My friend and I split the nachos and a veggie wrap- both highly recommended. If you're a non-Portugues speaking tourist, like we were, you'll find plenty of Paulistas that speak English here and want to socialize. Well, first I have to say that we did have a good fun afternoon watching the rugby World Cup final at O'Malley's, although it was very very crowded, just like being packed into the metro at rush hour making it hot and uncomfortable. I think this is because O'Malley's probably have no limit to the number of people they let in, basically creating a serious fire risk! Anyway we would have left with a smile on our faces if we had not felt utterly robbed! We had 5 small bottles of Heineken R$9.00 each x 5 = R$45.00 plus 3 pints of Wittekerke wheat bear R$19.00 each x 3 = R$57.00 plus 3 small bottles of Smirnoff Ice R$12.00 each x 3 = R$36.00 plus small "stingy" platter of tacos muchos R$26.00 plus about 8 Potato wedges with tiny dipping sauce R$18.00 Total was a "shocking" R$182.00 but we were lucky because if we had arrived at night we also would have had to pay another R$70.00 just to get in to be robbed!!! R$40.00 for a man and a discriminating R$30.00 for a woman! That would have set us back an insane R$252.00 My advice - go somewhere else! There are many very good bars in São Paulo that screen big international rugby games that won't rob you blind and leave a bad taste in your mouth. Ps. Good Irish bars in Ireland do not rip you off like this one does!
