I was sending my dad back off to the airport from Frankfurt to MI, after a much too long 10 day trip to stay with me while I lived in Germany. My dad had needed a much needed break from the mostly German words that were oh so foreign to him for 10 straight days. He still goes on about seeing the longest 64 character German word on a truck a few days ago. I tried to explain to him that many German words are often combined words to make it all seem like a really long arse word. Like the German word: Hauptbahnhof, this is a combo of the main/central - haupt, bahn - train and hof - station. Thus what would be 3 separate words for us in the English language is chained together in German and appears as one long word. If I had known then what I know today I would have told my dad that one of the longest German words according to (thoughtco.com) is "Donaudampfschiffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft" at 79 letters. Might need a breath or two between saying all of the syllables of that one German word. My dad and friend Miriam that met up with us for a drink before seeing my dad off. It's a Irish pub so of course we had to hand some dark Guinness. I got the small squirt size, my dad got the full pint. I feel like an Irish Bar is a good place to reset and to escape for even an hour from the myriad of confusion when in a foreign country for many folks. It feels cozy, somewhat familiar and welcoming. We visited O'Reilly's during our last evening in Frankfurt. After walking the town and dinner, we were not ready quite yet to go end the night. This bar is located across from the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, so it is easy to find, located on a corner. What a fun place! There are two sections: the main bar and a restaurant. Of course, we hit the bar area and found some empty stools to relax and enjoy the rest of the evening. Turned out, our waiter was from Canada! He said he had been visiting Frankfurt, met a woman and stayed. Cool guy, can't remember his name but he was great at his job. We went through several rounds of beer and he made sure the glasses were never empty. The bar area was nice, with dark wood decor that gave a cozy, relaxed feel. The place was loud, typical to a bar, but the high ceilings help absorb some of the sound so we could still have a conversation. Restrooms are located in the basement and were clean. Pain in the ass attendant sitting outside of them, which is an annoying custom. Didn't have any cash on me so he didn't get a tip. What is the point in someone sitting there, anyway?? Other than that, I would recommend O'Reilly's. There is outside seating for warm weather and I bet it is a blast watching soccer matches there! read more

Great Irish pub across the street from Frankfurt train station. The inside had great ambiance. Staff were local Irish we felt the warm welcome and Irish love immediately. I was not a fan of Frankfurt, but this pub was the bomb! They have big tv screens in the back and it was great to watch the World Cup live. The food and beer was on-point and service was great. This was my favorite place to eat, relax, have a pint while in Frankfurt. My kids loved the cheese sticks, my husband loved the stew, the fries and club sandwich was yummy. read more

Surprisingly I've actually been to this place a couple of times, but then again each time I have been to Europe I have found myself in Frankfurt (usually by design). This is basically an Irish Pub, and it turns out that the bartender is, well, Irish. It isn't like those pretend Irish pubs in Australia where they claim to by Irish pubs but are basically staffed by Australians. As a pub it's okay, but nothing really all that spectacular. Interestingly it does have a room where you can smoke, which is something that I haven't seen, well, anywhere else. However, I'm not a huge fan of Irish pubs, but I do visit this place occasionally. read more

This was a great spot to stop for beer and karaoke while traveling through Frankfurt. Stopped here with my dad one of the nights we were in town. Bar is broken up into separate rooms, with a stage for karaoke in the room in the middle of this establishment. Karaoke KJ was friendly, spoke clear English, and was engaging work the crowd. Atmosphere was friendly. People were encouraging to others that were singing karaoke. Once the last person on the list sang, this place transitioned into some sort of club (with loud music and smoke machines). We left when this happened (as well as quite a few others). While not my favorite Irish Pub in Germany (that award goes to Irish Pub Wiesbaden) it has the best food of any Irish Pub that I've been to. It is right out side the Hauptbahnoff so you can people watch while you eat and for the more adventurous you can head to the red light district which is basically around the corner. If you're at the train station and don't want to eat the fast food inside i'd recommend The french fries (hand cut and great) and the chicken ceasar salad. I've never had a burger there but all of my friends give them rave reviews. I can't give it five stars because of location and the fact that it can get a little overcrowded and loud when soccer or Rugby is on, but it's an Irish Pub so what do you expect. read more

I'm an american traveling solo and this place is close to my hotel so I thought I'd post some feedback. First, the bar is massive. Maybe six or seven different rooms? One actual bar to order from but the bartenders are observant and the service staff is on top of it. They're all super friendly and all speak decent English so ordering isn't difficult. Second, free Wifi! It's nice to sit outside, enjoy a good beer or glass of wine and be able to update my family with pictures, etc. Finally, the location is great because it's right across from the train station. You can grab lunch while you wait for you train to Paris. :) Overall, great vibe with music and TVs everywhere. Very friendly staff, reasonable prices, and great people-watching. read more

What do you wanna do when spending a night in Frankfurt? If you are located by the main central station O Reillys can be an alternative. They have a rather traditional irish approach with some of the classical irish dishes on the menu. It felt a little weird stumbling into an irish venue when visiting Germany, but what the heck? Frankfurt is after all a kosmopolitan city. What about the food then? Well.. yeah... It most certainly has that irich touch. But I would love if they dared going all the way and really focus on the irish dishes and getting them really delicious. It is nice and all. A nice little expat pub in the bahnhofsviertel of Frankfurt. Unexpectedly large inside, so it's good for finding a table and having after-work pints. They have all the standard brews, but the imported Irish ones tend to be a bit pricey. A bottle of Magner's cider will set you back about 6 EUR. The food is decent - kind of what you'd expect from a Young's or a JD Wetherspoon chain pub in the UK or Ireland. It's no gastropub, but decent food if you're just looking for something to snack on while watching the match. Which brings me to the best part - the projector screens and widescreen televisions throughout showing all the top sports. This is my main reason for coming here. Excellent views from around the pub - they are always showing the Premier League, Rugby, etc. So if you're a British or Irish expat, you can always bet on your team's match being on the big screens here. They have about three projection screens and maybe 8 wide screens around the bar, so they cover a lot of events and generally it's not too packed to get a good seat and view. read more

During the recent championship, a large banner with "Rugby World Cup HQ" on it announced this fact to the world. May be, just may be, this explained to the uninitiated why there were hundreds of people milling OUTSIDE trying to get in or at least catch a glimpse of the action on the big screens inside. Just to explain the priorities at O'Reilly's: Four of the five large screens showed the semifinal between England and France while in the smallest room a few odd people watched the European football championship qualifier between Ireland and Germany. The atmosphere was fantastic, but I dare say that O'Reilly's would have sold much more Guinness and Kilkenny if less people had been present and the waiters had found a way through the masses. Even I would have ordered a second pint if I had seen my way clear to make it to the loo which was impossible. Even if you book a table for major sporting events (and for the rugby final this wasn't even possible), it is absolutely necessary to come real early if you don't want to get into a fight in order to claim your table and chairs. Oh, yes, the kitchen offers all the expected standards, but the quality varies either with the amount of food churned out or with the competence of the different cooks. read more

One of the finest Irish pubs I have been to. It is located on the opposite side of the main train station, 15 mins from the heart of the city. This place is huge I don't know how many people can be there, but the first time I was there I almost got lost. It has loads of room to dance, sit, drink, sing, etc. Great place to watch football games and to chill out after work. The best thing is the karaoke night that they organize. It looks really really professional with a a hot female moderator who sings herself. As in any karaoke bar they have thousands of songs. When you go out to sing they make you go up on an improvised scene which is about a meter above the ground, so you are going to be seen by everyone. Definately my favourite pub, not only because I work there The people behind the bars are fantastic and great people to work with. They are fast, try to serve people as quick and as nice as possible. During the week you can go there for a round of pool or just to watch any kind of sport events on one the big HD Ready screens or tellies. They were also incredibly rude in general. We asked a German man at the Frankfurt train station to recommend a good place to eat. He suggested an Irish bar across the street. I was skeptical and would never have gone here if not recommended. I have to say I am glad we dropped in. The place is cozy enough inside with plenty of tables and a lively atmosphere. The waiter surprised me with English spoken with an Irish accent. I was prepared to try out my terrible German as usual. The meal did take a while to arrive after we ordered, but the lamb stew was excellent (my wife is Irish and I have had lamb stew many times). My friends ordered a burger with fries and fish and chips, and both raved. Again, it took forever to flag down the waiter to get our bill, but overall, I was very hay with dining there and would go back when in the mood for good Irish pub food. read more
