Had Bifana here just like Anthony Bourdain did! Excellent dish, photos enclosed. The we here this time of year is nice too! Lots of food to explore.

If Anthony suggested, I had to try it! In the big bustle and hustle we were lucky to grab a seat and we're served pretty quickly. It's known to be the best sandwich and all of Portugal and I would say it was pretty good but not out of the world incredible like I was assuming it would be lol Joaquin was the nicest man and he seated us quickly. The vibe was authentic and incredibly busy spot in a beautiful area.

My wife and I were in Lisbon for a week and this place was just on the corner from our hotel. We were headed back to the room after a full day of wandering and I saw the word bifrata. I had heard about these pork sandwiches on all the travel videos I watched before we left. I ordered one and a beer and it was under ten bucks. Not bad. It came out quickly and the meat was nice and juicy and then add some mustard and hot oil to the sandwich. Very nice. The service was just fine and the place is pretty small, so you will be sitting next to someone probably. Good place for a good, cheap snack.

Bifana and a beer Cheap and so satisfying! Juicy pork on a crusty roll - mustard and chili a great 3 bite wonder

Stopped here for a quick lunch. Did not wait very long for a seat. If you want faster service just walk in and order at counter. S eat there or take away. Agree the Bifana is not very flavorful-I see why you'd want to add mustard. The bread roll was very fresh and soft! Service was quick. We also had chicken soup which was perfect for a cold and rainy day.

This is likely the best sandwich shop in all of Lisbon. A great place to grab breakfast and coffee before starting the day. I went multiple times and would go back again.

Bifana - pork sandwich with cheese , add chili oil and mustard

Absolute perfection of a bifana , make sure to add chili oil and mustard. The pork is not very flavorful by itself but this is the second best bifana I have had. The price is very reasonable and the service is quick. The place doesn't look very hygienic since it's a small shop , the cook should use gloves or something. Workers were friendly and I got my sandwich quick and ate it while standing up. This place is cash only and has very reasonable prices and it's close to the main square.

The BEST Bifana in Lisbon! I did a little Bifana tour for my Fiance and I... O Trevo was our FAVORITE! The staff was also amazing! Super friendly, welcoming and even gave us a seat! Came here everyday we were in Lisbon! You truly can't go wrong! I also had the chicken noodle soup and it was so flavorful! One of the best chicken soups I've had! Can't wait to come back here!! And if you don't know, Anthony Bourdain also loved this spot!!

This is a bustling little cafe located right in a busy city square you must visit! We stopped in for a quick bifana and beer. I love the fast-casual environment of the cafes in Portugal. You walk up to the counter to order and you can stand there to eat your snack or grab a seat. We just stood at the counter to eat. The beer is cheap and the bifanas are tasty but not the best bifanas we tasted in Portugal. The meat was chewy and the bread wasn't as dense as others we tried. Anthony Bourdain stopped in many years ago.

This place gets pretty crowded. We were lucky enough to have seating when we came here on our food tour. We ordered the green wine, which was delicious. We also had the cod, cake, which was very tasty, but would have been more enjoyable if warm. Lastly, we enjoyed the bifana, which Anthony Bourdain highly recommended with a sign of him visible upon entering. The service was great, and everyone was super friendly here.

BOURDAIN'S BELOVED BIFANA simple pork sandwich, literally just a slab of simple marinated pork in plain soft bread. O Trevo is local favorite but has been pretty popular internationally since it was featured on a segment of No Reservations. I forgot how it came up in conversation but our waiter at a fine dining restaurant said he used to work around here when he was up and coming and this was his favorite snack spot. Ask any local and they are passionate about their Bifana and proud of it as a national sandwich. This isn't going to be some insane packed sandwich with lots of flavors and complexity but taking into account the environment you are eating it in and how classic it is, its a must try over any franchise food. The bread is soft and not too dense and the pork is seasoned so gently it tastes like soft pork with a touch of salt and garlic. I would view this as a snack and quick bite or something to soak the alcohol at the end of a night and not a full meal.

Look no further for bifanas - this is the place. Casual walk-in counter to order at, and seating possible to find. Guys behind the counter were helpful. I could not stop eating bifanas they were so good. My only regret about visiting Lisbon is that I didn't have more of these!

Bacalao/fried fish (bottom), bifana (right), bitoque/skirt steak + fried egg underneath the fries (top). Not included: the pastel de nata

This place has quite a nice selection of beer, for a small store. Mostly European, and I was excited to see all the BrewDog from Scotland and Mikkeller from Denmark. Also surprised to see many Rogue Ale's beers, even on draft as well. There is a shelf for Portuguese craft, some from Lisbon. The girl working there, Ann Marie, is the best. She's really knowledgeable about the beer. When I asked her about a label, she'd tell me - their best beer is XXX, which I don't have right now, but of the two I have, this one is better. She is honest about her opinion - they waited six month to get this beer, she was really excited to try it but felt rather let down. She also enjoys giving trivia - the label Electric Nurse from Denmark comes from the occupations of the founders - one is an electrician and the other a nurse. She lets me sample the draft before deciding which one I want. Last but not least, she is diligent with regular sampling of the beer to ensure quality. ; ) The place has a relaxed vibe, with some games and books for entertainment. We just sat at the bar and chatted with locals, about beer, food, and everything. A really lovely way to spend an afternoon of our vacation, rather than hurrying around like crazy tourists. If you prefer, Praça Das Flores is just across the street, a park where you can totally enjoy a little corner of nature. Beers are not cheap here. The bottles costs over €3 each, and drafts mostly €4-6. Whereas a Sagres usually costs me €2 or so. However, if you don't feel it's worth paying extra to support craft and quality beer, then by all means stay with your Super Bock.

I came on a weekend so there were tents set up by artists and vendors in a large area which made the day even more interesting. It feels a little to me like a condensed version of the Arts District in LA. It is very busy on the weekend, but worth it to navigate just so you can see all the tents of vendors. There are vintage shops, ceramic shops, cool clothing shops - so many spots to find great gifts and be inspired. It feel industrial/warehouse-y which makes the vibe feel so much more interesting. We ate at Chickinho (pronounced chickeen-yo) because I really was craving some grilled chicken with piri piri oil. This spot specializes in chicken, especially grilled chicken with piri piri. We ordered the whole chicken, got a deliciious red cabbage coleslaw, and some wedge potato fries and a tomato/cucumber/onion salad. Everything was just so fresh and tasty. The piri piri oil was already at the bottom of the dish that the chicken came on so we just kept dipping the pieces of chicken in there and wow was it addicting. I couldn't stop thinking about this meal for a couple of days and really wanted to go back again, but we opted to try another spot that was well known for their piri piri chicken. I have to say overall, I still enjoyed Chickinho the most because of the sides and how well they seasoned and cooked the chicken. And I really liked their piri piri oil.

While there are more micro-breweries, it's hard for a traveler to visit, as it's a challenge to find out accurate info about their opening hours - if they are open to public - and then trying to fit the visits into your schedule. You also need to pray that they open as scheduled. A flight of three is only €5, very affordable (wish I have $5 flights back home!!) and a great way to go for trying different beers. And don't forget to go inside and check out their bottles selection in the fridge, and get some for souvenirs. The staff will be more than happy to help with your selection and tell you more about the Portuguese craft beer scene!
