Don't waste your time or money on this Luau. I was looking forward to an authentic Hawaiian Luau. This was a restaurant in a strip mall with a luau on the back patio. The stage was a platform with a pop up tent type cover with a view of the dumpster behind the fence and the recycling center beyond that. The food was awful, small portion, cold and not very flavorful. We had a cheesy picture taken upon arrival in front of a backdrop that was a fishing charter. We loved the entertainment- especially the fire show. The music was festive and captured the spirit of Hawaii perfectly, while the dancers performed a variety of fun and unique dances. The connection between the band and the audience was strong as well. The food was also very good. My favorite was the chantilly cake. We were there on August 1st, 2022, and this Luau was disappointing. We paid $651.00 for three adults and three kids with a discount, and I couldn't believe the attendees were entitled to only one small drink with a blue or red ticket. Additional beverages needed to be purchased. I asked the bartenders, and they said they only followed orders and did not know. I found the person in charge and asked if we were only supposed to get one drink. The organizer was very rude and said yes, any additional beverages needed to be purchased, and he left while I was talking. They only want your money, and sadly they do not care about your experience. Mostly, the food was good, and there was plenty for everyone. The chicken, pork, and macaroni salad were excellent. The dessert consisted of only coconut cake, pineapple, and melon. The entertainment was good, and the lady in charge acknowledged everyone's birthdays and graduations. She tried and made the Luau a little bit better, but it was not the best I had seen in the past. I had been to a Luau in Kauai, and it was perfect. I guess my expectations were higher than what I got. It is the truth this Luau is at a restaurant strip. If you go to the restaurant next to the Lua and watch the show, you will save a lot of money! DONT WASTE your money!!!! This luau is held on a patio of a local restaurant. The food is dry and nasty. They don't even explain what all the random pieces of meat are. It's gross. The food was really, really delicious. It is a small luau, an imitate setting, but very well done. The story accompanying the dances was well done. Very intimate smaller luau with only about 40-5-0 people. The food was good with a little bit of pork, chicken, fish and rice. The show was really nice and we were really close because of the small nature of the luau. My kids got to practice a few Hawaiian dances. I recommend this luau! read more

It was an amazing Lu'ua on the Kona Inn lawn. The hula dancers engaged with the guests before the show even started. Beautiful view/sunset, the food/dessert was delicious, emcee was entertaining & the dancers were amazing. Even our 21 month old was captivated by the dancers. There were 4 adults in my party. We have been to 3 luaus in the last 5 years while this was the first luau for the other couple. This luau had a few great features. It is a small venue and each group was seated at their own table so we could talk. The entertainment was first class. The music was great. The view was toward the mountains and it was gorgeous as the sun set. Because of COVID, the food was plated rather than a buffet. The food was okay but not the greatest. The Mai Tais we had were delicious, and abundant. We did have a hard time locating the event. Our GPS didn't give an accurate location for the address. They need a sign on the street. This was a wonderful Luau experience! Make sure to book in advance (multiple weeks) as they really do fill up, especially with limited capacity due to COVID-19. The drinks were excellent, and the service was wonderful! The portion sizes were generous, and it included a variety of samplings (including a first course of 3 small plates, dinner with 3 meats and rice, and yummy dessert!) The show was great, seemed culturally authentic, and the live entertainment was fantastic! We got to learn a hula dance, and the host even announced our special occasions to the whole group. We were totally looking forward to this luau. It was one of the things we were most excited about doing in Hawaii. The show started around 6:30 after we were seated. The seating area was nice. Even though we were in general seating, we could still see. The food was good. But my biggest complaint was the show only lasted about an hour, instead of the stated 3 hours. Granted it rained briefly, for about 15-20 mins, but we didn't understand why they just ended the show quickly afterwards instead of continuing on. We were expecting to be there until 9 but everything was done by 7:30...pretty disappointing for the cost of a luau to only see about an hour of a performance. read more

The show we paid $120 a person for was 6-9pm and it started late and was over at 8pm. Email said doors open at 5 and can come in at 530. We ended up waiting out front for almost an hour. For the price paid, we feel scammed. The food was cold when we got it, cold fish/chicken/pork. So we didn't even get to eat. We got skipped for dessert as they were shutting it down at 8pm. The Pilikana Luau at the Kona Inn was good as far as the entertainment was concerned. The activities prior to the luau in the Kona Inn area were a lot of fun. The pre- show entertainment was okay, but made the luau longer. The show itself was very good and doing the Haka was fun. The food was average to below average which was a disappointment. We have been to other luau's in Kona that had much better food. The lomi lomi had no salmon in it, the mahi mahi was not great, poke was average, kalua pig was good, chicken and ribs not good along with a poor dessert. It was a scam to give each person a one drink ticket when other luau's offer all you can drink options for only about $15.00 more per person which was almost the cost of an other drink. It is unfortunate because my wife and I had a good time because of the show and the staff was very nice, but I would fire the caterer. If they go then I would come back. read more
