Unfortunately, my overall experience has been overshadowed by the office's consistent inability to stay anywhere close to schedule. I've been to both the Kailua and downtown offices at least five times over the past several months, and nearly every appointment has involved waiting 45 minutes to an hour after my scheduled appointment time. I completely understand that Dr. Bhattacharyya is an OB and that laboring mothers and emergencies must take priority. That said, this has become the norm rather than the exception, and it feels like the practice has taken on more patients than it can reasonably accommodate. Whether that means hiring additional providers or adjusting the schedule, something needs to change. If you value your time, this is something to seriously consider. Like many patients, I'm balancing work, childcare, and other responsibilities. I make every effort to arrive early and plan my day around these appointments, so repeatedly waiting close to an hour after my scheduled time is frustrating and, frankly, disrespectful of patients' time. My final experience was today at my second post-operative appointment. My appointment was at 7:30 a.m., yet it was already apparent the office was running significantly behind before the morning had even really started. After waiting 15 minutes with no indication of when I would be seen, I had to leave because I had work and childcare commitments. It was disappointing to miss an appointment I needed simply because the schedule was already so delayed. I was also concerned about patient privacy. Both offices are quite small, and I've frequently seen patients standing because there aren't enough chairs, with others waiting in hallways or sitting on the floor. On more than one occasion I was placed in an overflow office area where I could clearly overhear staff discussing other patients' medical information. I also observed passwords written on sticky notes in plain view. While I understand healthcare offices can be busy, these experiences made me uncomfortable and raised concerns about patient confidentiality. I appreciate the kindness of the staff and understand that obstetrics is an unpredictable specialty. However, consistently running 45-60 minutes behind schedule and allowing patient privacy to be compromised are issues that deserve attention. I hope the practice is able to address both, because patients deserve compassionate care that also respects their time and confidentiality.

You could be in no greater care than with these incredible women. Words cannot express how grateful I am to have had this experience. During my first pregnancy, I was living in LA and had every intention of giving birth in a hospital. By 35 weeks pregnant, I felt uneasy with the care I was receiving by the OBGYN and wanted to seek out other options. Long story short, I ended up hiring a midwife and doula and gave birth at home 3 weeks later. It was one of the best days of my life. With this second pregnancy, I knew I wanted another home birth from the absolute get-go, so this was my first experience having midwife care from the beginning of my pregnancy up until 6 weeks postpartum. Selena, Jasmine, and Amber have been the most gracious, helpful, knowledgeable, supportive, and loving team I could have ever hoped for. No matter what hour of the day (or night) they have been there to answer any questions and guide me through the entire journey. The level of care I received is unmatched. Truly, I can go on and on about how much I am an advocate for home birth, especially with a team like this one. I had the home birth or my dreams, in large part due to them. I trust no team more than them. We are family. Love them forever.

Selena answered the million questions we had for her. made us feel that this was definitely the way to do our birth! i loved how she let us be hands on with what we asked. my husband caught our baby and handed her right to me. so beautiful and amazing. my body recovered amazingly as well. i've had 2 births in the hospital and this has been the best one yet! we got the HK Package a little pricy but worth it. it included the birth pool and liner. they also set up and break down for you. this was great since it allowed my husband and i to bond with our newborn with a clean atmosphere. i also used Jasmine service for my placenta made into capsules. this is a separate price not included in the package. after the birth, Amber was very attentive to our needs. she responded quick to our text and calls. she never made me feel as if i was a bother. she is very knowledgeable especially when it came to questions on breastfeeding. all my worries were normal lol but it helped when she provided information! Amber you were an amazing doula. if we're still on island for our next baby we would love to work with y'all again! thank you ladies!

It was a terrible office experience today with provider Dr. Eesha…read more Bhattacharyya or Dr. B. For short at Ko'olau Women's Healthcare in Honolulu. First of all, Dr. B. is an unprofessional, inconsiderate, lazy doctor. Why do I say this? Well, first of all, i went to see him today for my follow up appointment, and in the exam room, Dr, B. suddenly started coughing a lot when talking to me. I was sitting across from him, in close proximity, sitting on the exam table. So, I asked Dr. B. to put on a mask. Dr.B. didn't cover his mouth, and he wasn't wearing a mask either. To protect me and his patients, many of whom are pregnant, Dr. B. should have had sense enough, as a doctor, to at least wear a mask to protect his patients from his germs and coughing. But he failed to do so. Next, he suddenly left the room to tend to a patient that was feeling faint. What about me as a patient? Why did you leave me hanging doctor in the exam room, with no explanation, and no apology as to whether or not I was supposed to wait for him to return or not? Lastly, Dr. B failed to help me with the medical situation that I went to see him for in the first place, and was unwilling to do the training I needed that could have helped me, thus the low rating I have given him. For all these reasons, I would not recommend Ko'olau Women's Healthcare or Dr. Eesha Bhattacharyya to anyone, and I see that several other patients have also given him one star ratings as well.

She was great about applying oil to me, I don't think I tore at all. They delivered two of my babies, and the front desk was always so pleasant. With my most recent baby, it had been a while since I'd seen them and I heard the midwife I loved left so I tried another midwife just above them for a little while. I realized that I just wanted to go back to Dr. Awaya and Dr. B so I tried to schedule an appointment. When they found out I'd seen another doctor, they REFUSED to see me and told me that I needed to find someone else. I was shocked and couldn't believe it. I'd been seeing them for TEN YEARS and because I'd made appointments with another doctor they told me I couldn't come back to their clinic. They wouldn't call me back so I drove to the office to see if they misunderstood, or if I could explain - I'd hoped to speak to the doctor in person because, after all, I'd been with them for so long. I was in the waiting room, super disappointed because I felt like I knew them so well after all those years, and they refused to see me or even acknowledge to me. I couldn't help the emotions (I was pregnant after all!) and I started crying in their office - I was so frustrated and disappointed! - and even then, neither doctor would even talk to me or answer my calls or concerns. The nice girls at the desk were apologetic but the doctors told them to say, "If she went to another doctor, she must've thought something was wrong with us so she'll have to find someone else" (essentially saying that I couldn't ever come back to their office). It's been a while and I never did hear from them, but if they think so little of their patients after 10 years I would suggest finding another doctor.

From the moment I contacted Teresa I felt her calm caring demeanor and motherly charisma. Teresa met with me several times before the birth and even attended an ultrasound visit with me. Throughout the process Teresa worked well with all of the other players, my husband, nurses, the doctor, etc. With her experience she is keenly aware of the benefit of making sure the hospital staff know she is there to support the birth while communicating her respect for their roles. During the birth Teresa made sure I was comfortable (food, pillows, blankets, ice chips) and helped make the experience as close to my birth plan as possible. My son's birth was not without complications and during some of the concerning moments Teresa helped provide a calm presence. She was even able to capture the exact moment he was born with her amazing photography - I still don't know how she was in two places at once because I felt like she never left my side. After the birth Teresa continued to be a support and the lifeline I needed. When my husband was unable to be there one evening she showed up at midnight to stay with me and the baby. She even brought some decorative lights to help create a nice calm atmosphere. After I left the hospital Teresa helped coordinate with my arranged postpartum doula to make sure I had the support I needed. She also kept in touch for the remainder of my hospital stay and afterwards motivating me with daily challenges like getting outside daily. I ended up needing more help and continued to utilize Teresa's support postpartum - she literally came over and made me chicken soup (her grandmother's recipe) and hand made noodles - it was so delicious. I could go on and on! I was so lucky to have found Teresa and would absolutely recommend her - she is the best!

She encouraged us to book a full appointment, so we did. We then had a 90-minute appointment that consisted mostly of discussing our daughter's medical history and current health issues, but no treatment plan or concrete recommendations were provided. The only action taken was ordering a blood draw. It took a full week just to receive the requisition form, something our other doctors always provide the same or next day. When the requisition finally arrived, we noticed tests were ordered that we had specifically said were not needed (such as cortisol and thyroid panels), because our daughter's endocrinologist regularly monitors those. After the blood draw, communication essentially stopped. We emailed a week later asking if results had been received and also asked for guidance ordering a stool test, mentioning that we wanted to schedule our next appointment once that was done and also mentioning that our daughter isn't doing well. We never received any reply. Even after blood results were available and uploaded in our patient portal, there was no follow-up, and no review of the findings, even though there were some abnormal blood markers. The office simply never contacted us again. Given the lack of communication, lack of guidance, and absence of a treatment plan, we cannot recommend this provider. We felt our daughter was ultimately abandoned without any follow-through despite her not feeling well and our attempt to move forward with care.
