We have visited once before and had nothing but an amazing experience. We went back again this year…read moreand again had a great experience. Couldn't be happier with the entire visit. The bar was busy as it was memorial weekend and if the guest didn't understand then you need to understand business. The amount of things for kids was great having the splash pad, huge blow up slide, the bounce house, and the parks for them to enjoy. Never felt unsafe or not on with the kids running and playing at the park alone with us watching them from the camp site. For wood is cheap when it being nog able to bring your own in and the restaurant and bar isn't expensive. The downfall is the WIFI coverage got worse from the last visit. We had absolutely no reception to connect the tv for the kids and well our Cell provider is garbage. The lady at the store noted they are updating the WIFI boosters. The day we left we decided to stop up at the restaurant and have some snacks before leaving the service was slower but they were busy and had a lot of things they were trying to accomplish with poor staff minus the manager or leader of some sort the was stressed but made the best of it. We will be back and are going back in only a few short days. Skip Away you made us visitors until we turn to a seasonal space.

There are plenty of nicely mowed trails to hike, short and long distances, and it's set in beautiful limestones bluffs and tall grass prairies. So quiet, far away from any busy road.

The grass portion was well groomed, the roadways were in good repair and all campers were well behaved. The only thing different I could have hoped for was cooler temperatures which obviously isn't the park's responsibility. As most who come here to this camp sight already have their own camper/trailer, the Latrobe was basic. If you want to take a shower, you just get In your car and go over to the regular camp sight. We were able to do a bit of tubing on the Volga River just 2-3 minutes walk from our campsight. The River was a bit low due to lack of recent rains but again, that is not the park's responsibility. There is a wine tasting place just 200 yards outside the main entrance which is a nice place to visit. Fayette, Iowa is just 10 minutes south by car with a very well stocked Dollar General story (kind of like a mini-Target.

The exact opposite from where I come from in Wyoming where people just don't seem to care or the soil is too poor to have a good yard. This park has several playgrounds on of which is a huge jungle gym made out of wood, a great swimming pool, walking/jogging paths, sports fields and so on. You could really spend a whole day here. Apparently lots of people do because everyone from the county seems to at least know about this park or goes there when it is nice out. Definitely a stop worth making if you are in this neck of the woods and need to take a break.

The guest barn is tucked further back on their property and we loved it! The hosts were very nice and welcoming. I appreciated the tour of the barn and the tutorial how everything worked inside. The interior was very spacious and inviting. I found their re-purposed farm equipment/tools as furnishings was very clever! Breakfast was great! They not only deliver to your door, but they also ask what time you'd like it! TLDR: Definitely add this B&B to your Iowa B&B Bucket list!

We have stayed at this hotel dozens of times over the past several years, and it was always a good…read moreexperience until last weekend. We were there for a family reunion and had several rooms. We were surprised how it has gone downhill. Some of the rooms smelled like cigarette smoke; my sister's room has cigarette ashes in the bathroom. Furthermore, not all rooms have smoke detectors. The room keys consistently had to be re-keyed as they did not always work. Though they had a full house, they ran out of food for breakfast. Upon check-out, some of us were told their computers were down. At least 5 of us had numerous unwarranted charges on our credit cards, I.e. we were charged for nights/rooms that we did not use. Upon calling the hotel the front desk clerk did not know how/when this would be resolved. We will go elsewhere the next time we are anywhere near Fayette.

We stayed here this past weekend for a family event and for small town Iowa, this was a great…read morefacility. We booked all three bedrooms, used the sitting room in the larger bedroom as a kids campground, and everything worked out great. The owner was super nice and breakfast was a hit with the kids. I recommend this B&B if you are looking for a place to stay in the area.
