Here's honest observations, opinions and some second hand stories which may or may not be accurate…read more Lots are level and nice size. About 25% have some form of shade. Ants are plentiful and invaded our RV from the Spanish Oaks. We drank bottled water after reading the FL EPA reports for Whisper Creek, La Belle and Glades County. There were three multiple hour water outages during 12 weeks and 1 three day boil order. The Glen, the new addition, is an open field with streets, multiple large sites, utilities, no concrete pads, late night highway noise, no comfort station, few trees, good water run off and little landscaping. Some storm sewers are plugged in the older section resulting in poor runoff. There is pooling water in the park and local area. Potential mosquito breeding areas. Pulling in and out of sites is a challenge if the ground is wet requiring a farm tractor to position RVs. The permanent residents say the weather has been unusual with 7 tornado touch downs within a 50 mile radius. 2016 winter weather may be a one off or the new norm. There are two common shower/restrooms, 6 showers per sex and about the same number of water closets, for 450 plus sites. The restrooms and showers are newer and clean. If you wish to dry your hands after the restroom bring your own drying towels. Pool and club houses are nice and well maintained. The pool heater was turned off when overnight ambient temperatures drop. WIFI is unreliable, unresponsive and no WIFI would be less frustrating. Management uses Facebook to keep residents informed of outages and emergencies. Good that they inform folks of situations and bad if the WIFI is down or you do not have a Facebook Account. Management appears to censor the Facebook page for embarrassing questions and comments. Some transients have said that management expects them to cut their own grass with park equipment. The permanent residents are friendly. Park homes are around 40% older marginally maintained and 60% newer well kept. The park residents appear to be 70/80% over 70. Many residents walk and ride bikes. Many golf carts with elderly drivers. Saw a golf cart forced off the road by an elderly driver. No injuries, plenty of yelling and name calling. Watch for "Larry The Cable Guy". There must always be a need "to Get ir Done" since he is driving twice the speed limit on his all terrain vehicle. Many motorcycles, good if you ride and bad noise if you don't participate. A shooting range within ear shot. Good if you participate and most days the noise is tolerable. Emergency medical attention can be challenging. After an off site fall a resident required ambulance transportation from the park to the nearest hospital. The wife said that once he arrived at the hospital he could not be admitted because there was not sufficient staff to provide him with medical care. A permanent resident said he is waiting 4 weeks to have a potential skin cancer blemish diagnosed. During our stay we witnessed 3 ambulance and 2 fire truck responses in the park. La Belle is located 30 miles from the closest movie theater or shopping mall resulting in inclement weather entertainment being an hour's drive. During the sunny and warm days in early January La Belle was swarmed by Love Bugs. The seasonal Love Bug is non stinging but is acidic to auto and RV finishes. In mid March a three foot alligator appeared in the runoff pond. Also, in mid March the lizards and snakes become active. Social activities are organized and managed by non compensated volunteers. The activities are plentiful and well planned. Outdoor games and the Spring Feast in early March were well received and had high participation. Bicycle riding around the park is around 3 miles if every street is covered. There is much congestion; foot, golf cart and vehicles. The bike ride from the park to town is on the shoulder of a busy state highway. There are many rules. Rules, when equitably enforced, are good. Many threats for those that are perceived to abuse the rules. Witnessed management standing in the middle of the street exchanging insults and threats with one of the non permanent customers. Not sure of the reason for the drama or who was right or wrong. Making everyone in the park party to the drama is not the appropriate method of conflict resolution. The permanent residents share many stories pertaining to the owners. We have not witnessed any illegal activities and the only gun sounds have come from the trap range. Read the open letters on the Whisper Creek mailings, online reviews, if possible talk to the friendlier residents and read management's responses to the reviews. Paraphrased the open letter says, We realize the office manager is difficult at times but that's just the office manager.

The Glen, their new addition, is an open field with multiple sites, no pads, highway noise, no comfort station, no trees or landscaping. Storm run off is not good. Storm sewers are plugged. When an old time resident was asked he said it's been that way for years. There are two common shower/restrooms, 6 showers per sex and six water closets, for 300 to 400 sites. The restrooms and showers are newer and clean. Pool and club houses are nice and well maintained. Streets are well maintained. WIFI is unreliable. If you need a secure and responsive connection use your smart phone, buy internet service from the local cable company or bring a cellular hot spot. Not one hundred percent sure but another couple that is here for two months said that management expects them to cut their own grass. Whisper Creek does provide the lawn mower and maybe the gas. Like everywhere the residents are casual friendly to the non permanent visitor. Park homes are about 75% older marginally maintained and 25% newer well kept. The park residents are 80/90% over 70. Many residents walk and ride bikes. Many golf carts with elderly drivers, beware. Many motorcycles, good if you ride and bad noise if you don't participate. A shooting range within ear shot. Again, good if you participate and bad noise if you do not participate. All social activities are organized, funded and managed by volunteers. The activities are plentiful and well planned. The activities cater to the 70 and above permanent residents. The park management and workers do not participate. The down side to the social activities is the organizers are always trying to sell you something. On our first day the neighbors and workers helping us park were eager to express their opinions and we tried to keep an open mind. We were told that the reason management and workers did not socialize was due to the residents not liking the owners. Again we kept an open mind. Shortly after our arrival, we experienced the wrath of Ronda and the large older(74) office lady. Before booking read the open letters in the Whisper Creek mailings. It states "We realize Ronda is difficult at times but that's just Ronda". Read the Social Media sites. Do not make the same mistake as us and ignore their news letter or negative reviews. The family appears torealize it has a problem but as they say "you can choose your neighbors but not your family members". There is plenty of drama at Whisper Creek and it's fostered by the management. If you want stress free, book somewhere else. Whisper Creek would be a great place with a professional management team and a little TLC.

My husband loved the pickle ball courts and the two restaurants on site were absolutely stellar, especially Crumbs where we had many breakfast and dinners. The one time we had pizza we were very satisfied as well. RV years were mostly from Ohio and Michigan and a few Canadians, but that contingent was largely absent due to Covid. All the campers we met were friendly and helpful and the site was impeccable. The front office was especially helpful for providing notary public services for our vehicle purchases. My husband was wild about the pickle ball courts and the great folks that he played with. It was an especially good value for a month and even more so for a year. The pool was lovely and we looked forward to the Wednesday bake sales and farmers market. We would love to go back and might even consider wintering there next year. My only observation as a new RVEr was that the population At Florida RV parks in general was very Caucasian. There were no or very few Hispanics, African-Americans and Asians at the location. It was definitely LGBT friendly. Servers at Crumbs Country restaurant did not wear masks but outside dining was available and very comfortable. The overall belief of the RVers was that Covid had already come through the park and everyone simply distanced or rode by on their golf carts. Almost no one wore a mask.

The pool area is updated and they have a new hot tub that's very nice. It probably fits about 6 people comfortably and was. never that busy when we were there. I appreciated the shade of the tiki hut and we had our pick of chairs in the sun too. We participated in water aerobics at the pool twice during our stay and had a blast! The fitness center is really nice - a bit crowded, but they have dumbbells, bikes, treadmills, and weight machines. We worked out there a bit and appreciated that it was never too crowded. The resort has many amenities, including the updated clubhouse, kitchen, pickleball courts, and a small library. The resort is mostly older couples and everyone is pretty friendly and welcoming. The resort is pristinely clean with everyone taking care of their dogs and no trash left anywhere. The clubhouse is the main gathering area for nightly activities like bingo, Left Right Center, poker, dances, dinners, and other fun events. We played Left Right Center and bingo this time - we didn't win but it was fun to hang out and join some activities. They also have parties sponsored by big RV companies, pet parades and events for holidays, and more. The community seems very tight knit. Pelican Lake is a 20 minute drive to Marco Island and 30 minutes to Naples, depending on traffic. 45 minutes from the airport, it's an easy place to get to during the winter when I need a break from snow!
