THS Synchro is an incredible organization. My daughter started synchro at 9 years old after 3 years…read moreon T Hills swim club (THSC). She was welcomed by really polite and sweet teammates who were thrilled to have a new athlete. The coaching staff is excellent. She has coach Hallie who is a highly decorated athlete herself. She's just the right mix of coach, mentor, and tough mama. Coach John coaches the older squad and helps with my daughters team, too. His experience in this sport is extensive and he has a stellar reputation as a coach and choreographer. He is known for his passion for the sport and the drama and artistry he brings to it. We brought a record number of routines to Nationals this past year (2013) and one of our athletes qualified for the USA national team and trained at the Olympic Training center in Colorado Springs. We also have a lot of fun doing team building activities and community outreach like the Beaverton Parade on 9/7/2013. Go T Hills! Synchro is a sport that requires more time than you think. Athletes can be at practice between 12-26 hours per week. BUT, my daughter is in the best physical shape of any kid her Age. She loves how strong she's become. Cost: We pay about $200 per month but with practice being 20+ hrs per week, that's not too bad. Additional costs are for travel and meet expenses but our club is working hard thru fundraising to minimize additional costs. All in all, I highly recommend this club.**

My son and I have found all of the coaches at T Hills to be very helpful and some of the most knowledgeable coaches in the Pacific Northwest. Having personally attended a number of the practices and tournaments, my impression and opinion is as long as the athlete is willing to put in the effort, the coaches are willing to teach them. Regarding club fees, T Hills is on the higher side when it comes to monthly dues. However, when I calculated the total training time (pool time and dryland time) by the monthly dues, the cost per hour of training was very close to other clubs in the area. In summary, I highly recommend THWPC if your athlete is mature enough within their age group to listen to the coaches. However, if your athlete just wants to goof around and play in the water for an hour or two, this may not be a club or program for them or for you.

The coaches were wonderful and welcoming, and it was especially nice that two older kids took the time to help my child and another new kid. So far, it feels like a supportive and encouraging environment. Edit to add that I believe my child's team coach and the head club coach are both new. I don't know what happened before my daughter started at their club but it seems like there have been some pretty huge changes and overhaul to make this a more positive experience for kids.

So for myself, and for health benefits, this past spring and summer I decided to start taking tennis lessons. This was to add a change to my cardio regime. Plus, I haven't played tennis in over ten years. Here's a few information: * General Facilities & Parking Lot * First of all, the campus is fairly huge. And they appear to offer everything from swimming, to tennis obviously, league sports like softball for adults, and soccer/football/lacrosse for kids. They even provide maps for certain walking trails. The parking lot accommodates mainly for the aquatics center and tennis courts. But I've yet to run into an issue with parking close to the tennis facility and softball fields. Plenty of spaces, but I'd say more crowded closer to the aquatic side. Lots of kids taking swim classes. * Babette Horenstein Tennis Center * Did I mention this facility is huge? Yeah, there's a good amount of courts. I believe about twelve in total, maybe more. The cool part is, six are indooor and six are outdoor. The indoor courts are well ventilated for the most part, but can get real hot during the summertime. As for the outdoor courts, they seasonally set up a green tent during the fall and winter, but remove it around springtime and summer. You can reserve a court, but they've got various rates. Primarily depending on your purpose (yes pickleball players are allowed), your place of residency, and a time of day. I will admit, it can be hard to reserve a court due to its popularity. * Tennis Instructors * Thus far I've had the two Brian's, a Bill, and a few others. So far so good as all of them have been excellent teachers of the game. Very knowledgeable instructors. From area positioning, to racquet grip holding, to hitting routine and feeling, it's those little tweaks and adjustments here and there that really help. They make the classes worth it! Well, that just about sums it up! Just note that local residents receive more of the benefits versus folks like myself that live "out of district." Like priority sign-ups if you're looking for a class. Regardless, I still find myself taking advantage of what they have to offer.

Some of the lifeguards and management didn't like me for asking them to be more safety minded when we were performing gymnastic diving. Instead, retaliation, defamation, character assassination, everything to make all the people that like me to turn against me. THPRD is not supposed to be in the business of Destroying People. It does so in a very dangerous and low life way. it uses 'hit men', staff members from somewhere else, or friends, or acquaintance to cause trouble and sabotage people's reputation in real time. THPRD needs to close down it's management team and get all new mission, not to break from the honor code like it is now breaking, and to not lie about being all inclusive when it's a party club and if you don't fit in and stay quiet, you're out and personally attacked by staff and management. Dangerous place. Do NOT go to THPRD. Did so for ten years, it is slowly crumbling to death. Get out while you can. It's too late once they get you.

And sometimes too hot from the heat when it's cold out. So temperature control is a negative. My other negative is when you take classes, or have your kids in classes there, you can't choose the teacher. I totally get that they don't want people basing enrollment on a teacher, but for things like gymnastics and dance, teachers spend the first few weeks JUST assessing kids for their ability and skill level. That wouldn't be necessary if they knew the kids already. So please allow us to choose teachers!! The positive: even though we can't choose teachers, we have NEVER had a bad teacher for the kids. My daughter had been taking classes here for a year now and we have loved them all. Every teacher genuinely cares for the kids and my kids have had a blast. I love being able to do gymnastics and dance here without the super competitive nature that the academies push. I LOVE the playground here. It's amazing. So much fun for big and little kids alike. They do have separate toddler and "big kid" play structures, but no one really minds which is which. The kids just play! I LOVE THPRD and Cedar Hills Rec. Definitely have a great set of people here!

Milltown serves the Bethany/Cedar Hills area in Beaverton around highway 26. Girls from several schools participate on my child's team, it's fun to mingle with new kids and families outside our immediate neighborhood. Princess really enjoys soccer and we appreciate Milltown's genuinely cool attitude about team sportsmanship and kids playing to have fun. This is recreational soccer, for kids, and it's not ugly. Parents and kids are encouraged to be good sports, kind to one another and to the other teams, and to have a good time. We have observed this is not true of all the local soccer clubs that we have played over the years. Enough said. Princess' father has enjoyed this so much that he started out volunteering as a helper, moved to assistant coach, and for next fall has volunteered to be the main coach. They offer coaching clinics often and are very helpful to parents who want to participate. Princess' father never played soccer before, and now he is really a fan. We also like that some members of the Timbers have volunteered to work with the kids from time to time. My kiddo got to work with Freddie Braun, who was absolutely awesome to the girls. It costs about $75 a season, which we think is totally reasonable.
