Our family loves Oak Leather! We actually drive past 3 closer Kindercares on our way to this one because we think it's the best. The management team here is incredible. They have so many programs and special activities. This summer they had a whole summer schedule with a fun theme for each day. Our son loves splash day outside! This center really goes above and beyond. Not only are the programs great, but all the teachers really love on son and we can tell he feels safe and happy there. This daycare is a best-kept secret in Burke :). Our son has been going here since the summer of 2018 since he was a baby. We LOVE it. Center Director Kelly Vargas and Asst. Director Yvette Hernandez--along with the teachers--are responsive, caring, and wonderful. Things that stand out: -The center uses an app to upload photos, videos, notes, meals, and diaper changes -The center sends out a monthly curriculum and we can tell that our son has learned a great deal. -Their COVID-19 and sickness policies and procedures are on point. -Our son thrives here and has so many best buds; he loves his teachers and they love him. -Center size is smaller, so it doesn't have that massive, institutional feel that some others do. I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am for KinderCare Oak Leather! Finding the right daycare for my daughter after she was with me for so long during Covid was incredibly difficult, and to be honest, we went somewhere else at first, which went horribly. (We stupidly assumed that because it was more expensive it would be "better", and we were very wrong!) I hounded poor Kelly and Yvette with calls and emails because I was SO anxious about transitioning my daughter again, expecting it to go horribly. They were kind and patient with me, and as soon as we stepped in the building, I knew we were in the right place. Their warmth and humor were clear immediately- and I was SHOCKED when my daughter went right into their arms, which is very unlike her. My daughter has thrived in the toddlers room with Ms. Amanda and Ms. Kiera, and she positively LOVES going to 'school' everyday. They were so sweet and patient with her and made sure to help her out during her transition there. She surprises me with the things she has learned and chatters on about her friends and teachers. She's also a big fan of looking through the pictures and videos they send on the KinderCare app, which I love seeing! They do such cute activities, like a little egg hunt for the kids for Easter, and this week they were working on flower arrangements! Kelly and Ivette are super hands on with the kids and really know them and their families. On Valentines Day, they even asked if I wanted a balloon for my older son in kindergarten so that he wouldn't be jealous. The love and care is so clear to see. I was honestly in tears after our first week here because I was just so relieved and thankful to have found the right place. If it wasn't for Covid, I would be hugging them all constantly!!! read more

I absolutely can't say enough positive things about this child care facility! There is such a wonderful feeling when you first enter! Ms. Amanda in the Toddlers room made a transition to all day care easy for my daughter who had just moved. She made a special connection with my daughter that was felt as soon as you saw them together! In the two's room Ms. Manal has helped my daughter transition back to daycare after taking time off during COVID. She provides engaging age appropriate lessons and a caring classroom that my daughter has been excited to come to everyday! Now, my daughter is transitioning to the Discovery Preschool Room and "WOW" you can see all the hard work of Ms. Karem and Ms. Priscilla! They have provided class activities that are meaningful and fun! I am so happy that we found this center! Each person at this center truly cares about their students! read more

The Oak Leather Kinder Care is fantastic! As first-time parents, and our first daycare experience, my husband and I were very anxious about leaving our child in the care of others. I'm very happy to say KinderCare has been such a positive experience for our child and we've watched our child blossom. The staff, especially Amanda, Kiera, Karem, and Kelly are amazing. From day one, it seemed like everyone knew our child's name, and the staff are extremely caring and patient, with not only the children, but parents, as well. Our child quickly went from being upset at drop off to being happy and excited to say hello and start playing. Kelly also quickly earned our trust and respect with forthcoming communications and updates about events and activities in the center. Everyone is very genuine, open, and caring, and the activities for the children are engaging and fun. The app, with the food, sleep, and activity updates is also very assuring and informative. KinderCare is a warm, welcoming, home-away-from-home for the little ones. read more

It is with mixed feelings that I say DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO KINDERCARE!!! It's sad because there are some hardworking and dedicated teachers who work there like Ms. Fatima; however, new management have flippant attitudes and do not communicate well with parents or staff members. Not to mention that they do not honor their promises. We abruptly pulled my daughter from this center in October for a number of reasons. My little one was 8 months old at the time we re-enrolled her at Oak Leather KinderCare. She spent the summer home with me, as I'm a teacher. Bad timing I guess since separation anxiety was pretty bad at that point. My daughter screamed and cried every morning I dropped her off for the entire 2 months she was there, which was completely heartbreaking for me! Not only was she having a hard time adjusting back to daycare, but she was moved into another room because she started walking early...add one more change to her already difficult transition! Despite my request to transition her slowly over a 2 week period and being assured by admin that they would...It never happened...they just moved her one day. The center is also required to keep their fluorescent lights on at all times, so my daughter never napped for more than 20-45 mins at a time (normally she naps for 1-2 hrs at home) and came home exhausted every afternoon! As if that wasn't bad enough, I picked up my daughter one afternoon (Dad usually does pick up) and was appalled when I found her dazed in a crib marked for another child wearing a soiled diaper, which she was clearly put down for a nap in! After only 4 hours at KinderCare, my daughter's skin was red and irritated!! When I went to change her, the new teacher offered me someone else's wipes and diapers, since she didn't know where my daughter's things were. Furthermore, when I asked if they needed more of her cereal, which they indicated on their daily form that my daughter was eating every day, the teacher could not find her food either. After searching in her old classroom, we found the containers in the bag I dropped off 2 months earlier nearly full!! Who the hells food were they giving her?!?! Not to mention that after 2 months of being there, my daughter still didn't have her own cubby. During the 2 week notice period they require for withdrawal, I was experiencing the worst anxiety each day I had to leave my daughter there!!! No parent should have to pick up their child and experience what I did. Let alone my poor daughter shouldn't have either!!! Thankfully, we found a wonderful in-home daycare and my daughter is happy and well-adjusted there! read more

The movie "300" relates how the Spartans used to take their toddlers and leave them in the woods in order to toughen them up. If the child survived, he was a worthy Spartan. Although the Spartans child-raising practices seem abhorrent to us now, they still may be better than leaving your child at this awful place. The staff is irresponsible, unconcerned, and incapable. Our child was repeatedly bullied and hit by an older child, including one instance where he was thrown down, pinned to the ground, and scratched so severly that blood was drawn. These events happened on consecutive days and we wanted to give the staff the chance to act appropriately, but after the aforementioned attack, we immediately with drew him. Naturally, we demanded our money back and we got it, especially after we discovered that the center didn't even follow it's own protocols for such events: a report was not made, the aggressor's parents were not called, and the general manager was never informed. As far as we know, the other child faced no penalties and remains at the facility. This place is the worst. Stay away read more

My family are EXTREMELY pleased with the teachers, management, and entire staff of this learning center. They truly expressed how they love caring for the children and their families and have always gone beyond expected. The infant teachers are so loving, caring, responsible, and respectful and have a happy and safe environment for these children. Both Director (Ms. Becca) and Assistant Director (Ms. Stephanie) are always available (sometimes even after hours) to offer assistance and answer inquiries and requests. My family and I are so grateful to have this center in the neighborhood. read more

Oak Leather KinderCare is truly a blessing to our family. When we were looking at learning centers/ schools to place our, then 1yr old, daughter in we looked everywhere. Most places were not appealing due to the center itself and staff- so we expanded our search area. The moment I called and spoke to Ass't Dir. Stephanie- I had butterflies in my stomach knowing this could be the place! When we went on a tour of the center we made sure to take our daughter with us so she could also see what could be her new surroundings. The moment we walked in all teachers smiled (and granted this was at 4pm, when I know they were tired and had a full day already)... but nonetheless each of the teachers smiled and spoke directly to us and our daughter. When the teachers spoke to our daughter, it made me smile because I saw them trying to make a friendly connection with her... putting her emotions first, making sure even on a tour whether or not us enrolling they wanted her to feel happy and welcomed. Whelp almost 1.5yrs later our daughter is still so happy. She is excelling mentally and physically! The care they took when transitioning her on her very first day to when she transitioned from Infant-B Room to the Toddler Room was met with care and understanding. The teachers are simply awesome, friendly, knowledgeable and truly LOVE children. And I have encountered each and everyone- so it's not just my daughters teachers... it's ALL! These teachers are lead by great examples set by Director Wendy and Ass't Director Stephanie! If I could give this location *****5 STARS***** again and again I would. read more

My son has gone here since he was 3 months old; he is now 2.5. His teachers have all been kind and I appreciate the amount of time they balance active play with teacher led activities. The director Wendy and assistant director Stephanie are wonderful to work with on all the issues we have encountered so far such as illness, accounts, bumps and bruises. Active communication at this place is amazing. The office staff is always there for any of your questions and send out weekly emails to keep you in the know. They are also always asking parents about what they can do to improve their daycare center. I have never had a problem addressing anything to the staff directly or to the directors, as they are open people that are doing their best and want the best for the children they care for. I guess the best reviewer would be my son who always seems happy to go to daycare which gives me peace of mind as a working mom who can't quite shake the guilt of leaving him in the care of others while I work. read more
