On this particular day, we saw walkers with and without dogs and joggers and someone with a stroller. Very shady through a lot but not all of it. Benches here and there to take a break. A few cool tunnels to walk through that the kiddos will love. Round trip from the parking area was 3 miles. Can't wait to come back. The dogs loved it!

It's located within a community, which eases the mind when you solo trek. The trails are laid out nicely with clear paths. The natural stepping paths are quite easy to maneuver for beginners like me. The beauty of the rocks and boulders are amazing. Bring your kids to see all the natural beauty of the caverns and waterfalls. I love this place! Alabama is such a beautiful place. Take the time to experience this natural beauty in your own backyard. Yes, it is a true workout. Skip the gym and come outside. We outside, we outside!

There's truly no shortage of trails, and the variety keeps things interesting the entire time. The park definitely offers some challenging uphill climbs--especially for us Florida girls who aren't used to elevation--but we powered through and felt very accomplished. One of my favorite highlights was Rushing Rendezvous; the idea of a suspension bridge tucked up in the treetops always excites me, and this one did not disappoint. Of course, when we saw Trail 5 marked as most difficult, it was a no‑brainer--we had to take it. I really enjoyed reading about the history along the way, especially learning more about the Birmingham Mineral Railroad site. I do wish there had been a bit more signage around some of the remaining structures so we could soak up even more history, but honestly, guessing their original purpose became part of the fun. Hands down, I would absolutely come back to explore more of Red Mountain Park. It's a great mix of challenge, scenery, and history--and well worth the visit.

This has to be the nicest outdoor space in the metro Birmingham area. Veterans Park offers the space to host family reunions, jazz in the park, little league soccer games. There is plenty of seating and areas to just get away amongst a crowd. There is also a fitness area that shows you how to use your own body weight to get in shape, no need for a gym membership. There are always a good number of people using the trail (either walking, running, riding bikes, sitting on the benches, etc.), but it's never insanely crowded. I don't feel unsafe if I go walking by myself either. The streams that run along the trail give it a relaxing feel as well. The trail runs parallel to Lakeshore Parkway, but I never really hear much traffic while I'm there. Definitely check this place out if dirt trails and/or hills are not your thing!

There's also a nice sized pavilion that can be used to have lunch or prep yourself before hitting the trails. Prepare yourself for an UPHILL trek! There's an easy peasy beginner trail that makes a small loop, but the trails begin to branch off once you make it up the initial hill. Thankfully the trails are well maintained, so the hill is pretty level, but it is very steep! People also ride horses in the park so watch out for poop.

We paid additional per day for daycare thinking our pup would at least get to play outdoor and won't be locked inside all the time but daycare meant all day outdoor so he came home with sunburn and limping because of blisters on his paws. We were not taken to see the outdoor area but certain they do have umbrellas. However, we don't know how crowded it was and if there were enough shady spots for all. All day outdoor in the summer was brutal. I suppose all is normal condition under boarding facilities so we will not be boarding ours again.

I'm sure there are kind people who work here, but we are very dissatisfied with our experience. We trusted this facility to properly monitor and care for our Australian Shepherd while we were away, paying around $50 per night plus tip. When we picked him up yesterday, we were told he had a hotspot and had been favoring one leg. At pickup, his foot was very red, but there was no visible blood. By the time we got him home, his foot was noticeably bleeding and the condition was worse than we were led to believe. This was not something that happened overnight and should have been attended to. Today we took him to the vet, where we learned that infection had already set in. The visit cost us an additional $150, and he is currently unable to put weight on his foot and will need at least a week to recover. We attempted to contact the facility through both the website and email and have yet to receive any response. While we understand mistakes can happen, this situation is not acceptable. I would encourage anyone looking for attentive care and communication to look elsewhere.
