So looking for something a little different to do my gf and I thought we would get some food to go and check this place out. Really the only reason I knew about it was the fact we had our company picnic here recently (so yes, it's good for large crowds). First thing, this is hidden away in a Vestavia neighborhood, so it's not right there in your face as far as how to get here. When you enter the park, it's the red style gravel so be prepared to give your car a wash when you leave. For a picnic lunch this place was perfect! Three small pavilions with a picnic table under each was the setting for lunch. Large grassy area, if you wanted to come with a friend and let kids play, they have a small playground area as well. Once we were finished eating we had a few minutes left and did a little exploring. The walking bridge that crosses the creek is awesome, and gives you a nice vantage point off the stream. When you cross the bridge it opens up into another pavilion of two and some additional space. Not sure how much hiking there is when you get down and really start to explore, but we could see some trails, so I'm sure there is some. Nice little place to come and enjoy yourself before the heat of summer is upon us. Probably gets pretty warm on a hot summer day, but there are a lot of shade trees that probably help quite a bit. Nice location, I'll for sure be returning!

    Awesome park!

There were a ton of children playing soccer on this lovely Sunday and it was fun to watch! Our little man scored at least 3 goals and the coaches were friendly, organized and excellent at encouraging the little ones! Unlike the soccer fields off of Columbiana Road, this park did not have food truck/s or restrooms and using a porta potty with a latch that doesn't work is not among my favorite things. Still, this is a great park, convenient to my stepdaughter's house with an excellent set up for her children's soccer games!

Summer it was nice and warm, winter they had to put up a bubble over the pool .... and needless to say it got a bit chilly to say the least. Pool area was always clean and they do a great job of actual pool maintenance. There are areas for walking as well as plenty of ball fields. There can be a ton of people here pending the time of year and what sports are currently active. Also, there is a really nice playground area for the kids. All in all this is about as nice of a park as you will find in any city area. They truly support sports related to the school systems locally. All in all just a great location. Worth checking out if you find yourself in the area sometime.

They have two full tennis courts that are decent and a half basketball court that is off to the side of the tennis courts and shares the same fenced in area. There is ample parking here at the park, but I can see how during large events that parking could become scarce. They have two lots; one is located by the tennis courts and other is shared with the Jewish Chabad Center next door. The main section of the park is completely fenced in and has a small picnic shelter with tables under it, a decent paved 2/10 of a mile walking trail, a restroom facility, benches, and a couple of picnic tables. There is a bunch of shade in this area and green space in the center where you could hold a picnic, play catch or relax on. You will also see a borrow a book box and a story trail in the are as well The are also has a playground area that is on a bed of wood chips and has traditional swings, toddler swings, tire swings, a medium sized jungle gym with a slide, A fire truck themed jungle gym with a couple of slides, a merry-go-round, and a jungle gym with monkey bars and rock climbing. The equipment is in decent shape and looked like kids would have a lot of fun here. Because the area is fenced in, it is popular for those with dogs. Even though they have many signs posted to tell you to keep your dogs on a leash, I saw a few people that did not while I was there. This is a very nice park that has a lot to offer. I love the shade that it has. Even though it is located off of a busy road, I still found it peaceful. This place is a diamond in the rough and you should really consider coming here if you are looking for a park to visit.

I had never heard of this park/trail before and that shocks me considering how close it is to our house. This is parking across the street, but not a whole lot. Perhaps enough room for 6-8 cars. The entire trail follows a stream which adds in a picturesque scene as you cruise along. There is a historic market telling about the blast furnaces that used to be there. There were some people, but certainly not crowded. The trail was pretty smooth for the most part. Very few roots and other trip hazards. Really my only complaint is that its not long enough. And obviously some people ignore the dog waste bags provided for them at the beginning. But overall we loved finding this little gem and will definitely be going back!

This is a great neighborhood park with access to Shades Creek. There are a few benches, trash bins, doggie bags, educational signage, and parallel parking. The trail connects to the overall system of Mountain Brook Sidewalks and Trails and is part of the Red Rock Ridge & Valley Trail System. So if you're coming to run here be prepared to do some sidewalk running as well to get decent miles in. It's a nice change of scenery, but not really a destination park.
