Going to events alone is never uncomfortable and I'm never annoyed by people being overly friendly either. There is truly something for everyone, from traditional services to the contemporary 707 service Sunday nights (love the music there!). There are also events/groups to get involved in too. This…read morechurch is made to look good on the outside and inside as long as you attend regularly, get involved in some way (Volunteer, Attend Groups, Put your kids in youth groups, and made it a priority to connect with other families alike). Which sounds great. But if someone in your family receives a mental health diagnosis and you go to any of the pastors for help or prayer, they will essentially shun you or faze you out. All of those "connections" you have made, and any monetary contributions you give to the church won't matter because in their eyes, they have to protect their "brand". Your "friends" won't view you the same once this information get's out. There isn't support for this situation in CVC church. My family had to learn the hard way. It caused a lot of hurt. This church runs on how you present yourself and your family as well as how other people that attend this church perceive you. The church doesn't want acknowledge this type of situation. They want to avoid anything that may seem heavy or messy to them. This church thrives on fitting the mold. The "perfect" families, attendance, opportunities to get involved. This is intentional. My family, they are good people, who did everything "right" in the churches eyes, until they came for help. I wouldn't wish any of what we went through on someone else. I've kept quiet for a long time on this topic. I just feel that it is important for people to understand what we didn't.

The congregation seemed very nice and I wondered if they ever feel his lack of engagement. I won't be back. There are far too many dynamic pastors that would welcome my membership. As You pull in the parking lot, you'll notice things aren't particularly well kept. I saw that as a refection on the pastor. It looks like he just goes through the motions. The church could be so much more! Lovely area..great people! Church board...are you listening? You really need to expect more from Pastor Mike.

They have various Serbian festivals in an area at the rear of the parking lot well designed for such events, including on Labor Day weekend. The festival has a variety of tasty Serbian food and sweets (recommend the stuffed peppers and the cevapi spicy Serbian sausages!) , beer , wine and liquor (try The mix of red wine and Coke, which evidently is popular in Serbia?), a DJ and people dancing, kids play area, and more.. The Culturak Festival lasts until midnight, I recommend going in the late evening when it gets a lot more lively.. Did I mention many Serbian women are amazingly beautiful and I thus want to move to Serbia tomorrow??
