As it was, I was able to make it to Sharon Springs. Nice to know the office is open 24 hours and located in the diner. The price I was quoted the day before and what I was charged was $30 more. I learned this motel serves the railroad crews. Thus, they have the 24-hour diner and motel office open. The crew calls and the motel/diner staff leaves to pick them up. The sign will be on the door for about 15 minutes. Railroads have standards for the places their employees stay so I found the room to be clean, comfortable bed, refrigerator and microwave, along with being quiet. I was also able to be on the ground floor which was extra nice. The hair dryer did not work at all. Someone had tripped the breaker on the plug for the refrigerator, so it was not running all night. I fixed that so the next guest would have a cold refrigerator. I'll write a review for the diner, but they haven't had a grill working for over a year according to the employees. Be prepared to go elsewhere for meals.

Small town stay at a bargain price…read more I didn't realize that Wyndham had a property in the small western Kansas city of Sharon Springs, so I gave them a try on my most recent road trip. Although this is definitely a simple, cheap place to stay, the room was pretty darn good for the price. The bed was comfortable and the shower/tub was modern. Around the room, there was plenty of lighting and several outlets to charge your devices. Although you do check in/out at the adjacent diner, I had no problem doing so. It was staffed around the clock with quick, friendly service. Overall, I'd say I had a good stay here and given the price, it's a fine choice if you need a room in western Kansas.

On the morning of our departure, we had gotten quite a bit of snow, but the plow didn't show up until after 10am when the front desk staff called them to ask if they could come. I thought they would have been there earlier. We ended up staying another night due to the weather (icy roads). Be warned that the only food in walking distance is a Carl's Jr. The lobby does offer a small market with microwavable meals and some chips, snacks, and cookies. The hot continental breakfast in the morning has lots to offer- yogurt, fruit, biscuits, eggs, Canadian bacon, and fresh hot coffee. If we ever find ourselves in Burlington again, we'll definitely stay here.

They have a "heated salt water pool," however, I can't say it's very heated. We also couldn't figure out how to turn the hot tub on and gave up after 20 minutes of looking.
