I wish I had better things to say about this school. I couldn't recommend it to anyone…read more Our family had been attending this school now for 5 years. Recently it has had a turn over in Principals. Since then, and even prior the school has not been focusing on the important things, a well rounded, safe school. Over the passed year my son, (8th Grader) has been harassed/bullied, by another child everyday. He has damaged his personal property on numerous occasions. My son chose to ignored it because he (my son) is much taller and didn't want trouble. The school staff brought this bullying situation up to the Principals and brought my son in to speak with him to check on his wellbeing. The school DID NOT NOTIFY ME!!! The way I found out (before my son was home from school) was the attendance hot line calling me to please excuse my sons absence from 2nd period. That was when I found out about everything. On the last week of school 2019, this same bully assaulted my child by hitting him in the head, three times in P.E. class. Of which I learned the P.E. teacher told my son previously, that he has a few options with this bully. He could hit him, but he would get in trouble, or he could choose to stay away from him. My son had repeatedly chose the latter. When my son came home and told me this bully hit him three times in the head, I emailed both the Assistant Principal and the Principal. Please remember I was notified about the school's staff being concerned for my sons well being, ONLY because the attendance recording called me. I heard back from both principals the following day. Of which they told me in writing that they have interviewed the witnesses independently, and I quote, 'All three statements and recollection of the events from yesterday were very much in alignment'. He carried on to mention my son is very polite and respectful. I was told, and I quote, 'Unfortunately, we are unable to share the consequences with you, as we are only able to speak you about your son'. The next day was 8th Grade promotion, 2019. I was awaiting my sons name, and first heard and saw the child that assaulted my child 2 days before, walk and get his promotion certificate. I felt so sorry for my son. He is just a stupid number at BMMS school. They had proof and still the child didn't get suspended. He stood up there proud as can be. This school is not focused on your child's safety. They aren't behind the ball, they chasing the ball. Such as having these young impressionistic children, abruptly leave their classrooms without their belongings, so the drug dogs can have a good sniff. Oh and you aren't, as a parent, notified about that happening either. Its all bad. I am a very fair person, but this school has a lot of work to do. I can't tell you how many families I know that pulled their families from there at the end of a year. I should have in recollection. Talk to other parents from the other surrounding middle schools, we all feel the same about BMMS.

Mr. Corso is very enthusiastic and caring which is always appreciated but he also listened to the students and parents and worked to "beautify" a very ugly campus. I was also impressed with most of the teachers ability to implement online learning. I know it was not easy for them, but they really cared and worked hard to keep the kids focused. While they did not teach much that was new, they did put a lot of effort into reinforcing what was previously taught. Well done!

All three were active in sports and campus activities and stayed very engaged. We never had an issue with drinking or drugs or bullying. A lot of the teachers and coaches are alumni and have a great deal of pride in the school. I always found it a real sign of the school's family vibe when I think about the openly gay varsity football cheerleader from my oldest son's 2015 season. The school loved him and he had zero issues with anyone as far as we ever knew. MC is a great school where your kid will learn what they need in class but also what they need to get along in society.

Because the school is small enough for teachers and staff to really know each child as a person, kids feel supported, encouraged, and seen every day. The leadership team is thoughtful, competent, and deeply committed to both academics and student well-being. There's also a strong sense of community among families, teachers, and students that makes Meadowbrook feel welcoming and connected. Most importantly, students leave Meadowbrook confident, well-prepared, and ready for the next step into high school. We're incredibly grateful for this school and highly recommend it.

My son experienced issues that required repeated parent advocacy, including bullying-related concerns and an incident where his belongings were damaged. What bothered me most was not just the incidents themselves, but how hard I had to push to get clear answers, accountability, and follow-through. When administrators and adult staff are involved, families should be able to trust that concerns are handled honestly, documented properly, and followed up on without parents having to repeatedly escalate. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. One of my biggest concerns was the lack of honesty and consistency in communication with students. There were situations where adult staff told my son one thing, but when I followed up as the parent, the explanation changed or the responsibility was shifted back onto the student. That is extremely frustrating because children are already at a disadvantage when speaking up to adults in authority. Adults should not be able to rely on their position to avoid accountability or assume a student's word will matter less. There were individual staff members who tried to help, and I do appreciate that. But the overall system did not feel dependable. My biggest disappointment is with the leadership culture and the lack of accountability when parents raise serious concerns in good faith. Parents should not have to fight this hard to make sure their child is safe, seen, and fairly supported.

When viewing the campus map online it appeared much larger and much more confusing than it actually was. The PA Center was immediately to my left as I pulled onto campus, very easy to find and parking was extremely close too! I also viewed the theater seating chart online to pick my seat. I really loved that it showed me which seats would have a blocked view, encouraging me to pick another one. The theater seemed much larger online than it actually was. So when I chose a front row seat, I had no idea I would be "kick up my feet onto the stage" close. It was still a great seat and I could see the entire performance. The acoustics were good as was the lighting. They could definitely use another bathroom, one is not enough!

Even when you request a meeting with the other party's parents and the school, the school declines and allows the behavior. Not a very welcoming learning environment. If other students call your child a racial slur nothing is done. This is ONE OF the earliest environments these children should learn what is socially, ethically, and morally acceptable because obviously they are not learning this at home. To not hold children accountable for their actions is enabling them to continue the deplorable behavior. In addition the school is saying they agree and encourage the behavior by doing nothing to punish or prevent this behavior.

Del Norte is a beautiful and academically sound high school. The leadership over this school is second to none and the teachers truly care. I'm grateful for the opportunity of my child attending this school as I truly think they work to prepare her for college. Don't get me wrong, this school isn't a cake walk, but it's apparent she will be well equipped to attend college when she walks out the doors her Senior Year. Not only is the academic program better than a private school from what we experienced, the sports program is amazing. Some strong athletes come out of this school. Great facilities, coaches and supervision over the sports program has been a wonderful experience! Love that they invest in their academic and sports programs alike! Common to new schools there are "growing pains" of sorts to work out. At this point, DNHS is 4 years old. So far, the administrators, student body, faculty and parents have stepped up to make this a more than "good school". If MC is better, why are so many kids from its vicinity coming to this school? Some kids coming from RB high neighborhood or even WestView and Poway high neighborhoods make the commute here. Go ahead and ask those guys "why not their area high schools?" Or do you even have to try? Seems obvious... Clearly THEY think Del Norte IS the better school.
