Absolutely shocking. I have never endured a more horrific experience at any store than I have here at Oakes Farm Market. I purchased rice from here that had RAT POOP in the box. I was hoping to make an easy meal to surprise the missus but everything went sour when she discovered the droppings in the food she was eating. The woman behind the counter is awful!! Her name starts with an M. She is so rude and is constantly talking to the women in the back while she's slicing. She never gets the quantity right. I asked for a pound of the ham, when I got home it was barely a half yet she over did the cheese. She was so rude I didn't bother getting anything else. Very nice independent grocery store that has fresh produce, grown near here, at really good prices! Then they have a deli that has many prepared foods and Boars Head lunch meat for sandwiches/subs to eat here on their outside umbrellaed, table areas or to take home! Drove to Naples for the day from Miami. I did not need anything from the grocery store but I knew I wanted to give this store some business. The store was clean and the staff friendly. I love that if you wanted to wear a mask you can and if you don't it is not mandatory. Freedom finally . I love that they have the American flag proudly flying in the front of the store. The food is actually very good but the service is undesirable . The lady behind the counter serving dinners randomly gives extra food to her favorites and will not allow other people to order what they want even if they wanna pay extra. The staff step in the middle of the line or to the beginning of the line and put in their order. This seems acceptable to the rest of the staff. When you go to check out the cashiers are more interested in talking to each other then to you. Unfortunately a few make the rest look bad. There is something fundamentally wrong in the bakery department. The other departments are right on when you arrive at their counters. Bakery...they are in anther world. I live here full time and go the the Davis location weekly. Last Saturday there were 7 people including myself waiting to purchase something. There were 3 employees behind the counter. One was doing something with dough but, looking right at us, the other two were taking. One had her back to us and the other with the pink hair, kept talking to her while looking directly at us. No one was working the counter. The one with pink hair left to go up front, you'd thing she would have stop talking, go out back and tell someone there is a line out front, she didn't. It's like she didn't work for Oakes. The other two didn't tell anyone either. At this point another woman and I just left. I went back today, there was one customer. Happiness for me...wrong. The woman had her purchase and was deciding on another. She said she'd think about it and walked away. The girl asked what I wanted. I said one piece of plain cheese cake and a piece of Italian cheese cake. I yelled when I spoke and pointed, because of my mask. She came back with the plain one and put it on the counter. I asked for the Italian cake, she said she didn't hear me. At this point the other customer came back talked right over me and said she decided she wanted what ever it was she was looking at. The girl says OK. She starts to wait on her and left me standing. She said I have to wait because she was there before. I told her to forget it and left without the cheese cake. She should have told the other woman she'd have to wait because she walked away and finished with me, before she waited on her. A few months ago, I did speak to the manager. He asked me how I was at the register. I told him I was fine until I got to the bakery. Same story, they are all talking to each other behind the counter and the customers are left standing waiting. He said he was going to take care it. Apparently he didn't. I don't know who hires for the bakery, but they should find someone who is a better judge of people and knows how to train them. The bakery people are on another planet. As I stated, the other departments are on top of things; when you arrive at their counters, they are right on it. At the bakery they have two speeds, slow and reverse. This is two Saturdays in a row that I have left the store talking to myself. For the prices they charge this should not happen. From now on I will go to Fresh Market, their bakery people are on this planet and are happy to see you. They don't look at you like you are an inconvenience. read more

I picked up several items Saturday and Monday ,one of them is the oaks farm raised shrimp which are very exceptional. also the bakery walnut cake and the cherry cream crumb cake. in the deli spicy chicken salad with cranberries and they have a shrimp ceviche and medium spice corn and black bean salad. work that in with a French baguette and you have a excellent lunch every time Fresh guacamole made daily right now Fresh salsa Dozens of different dips made fresh in store. When you can buy over 50 prepared foods or dips and spreads sauces and they all have 4 to 6 ingredients on the label and there's nothing on there that requires a chemistry degree then you know you have good fresh local food. read more

Stumbled on this place next door to swanky resale shop that closed early. So glad I did. Park in the strip mall two doors down and walk over. Been there twice on this trip in a week. White asparagus? Purple asparagus? What a treat. Strawberries the size of lemons and cheap. Raspberries are just great. Five cheese homemade bread sliced makes unbelievable sandwiches. Fish! Buy the fish. Cheaper than downtown markets and far better and fresher than Whole or Fresh Market. Got hogfish and grouper. Smelled like the ocean and tasted like heaven. Pan fried with cocunut oil and some Old Bay. Got scallops the next trip. Beautiful. No grit and so soft and creamy. The salmon and crab cakes were perfect appetizers and they tossed in a cod cake to try. Really light and fresh. Would buy all three again. We served for our superbowl party and they were gone in a heart beat. Even the kids loved the salmon cakes. I could shop here everyday if I could afford it. Fresh fish is expensive anywhere but more affordable here. Shrimp were great and crab claws were priced fair. Free cracking too. The fish mongers (staff) are there to help. Ask them anything. I like Oakes & I am giving their deli department 1 star. The rest of the store gets 5 stars. Today I went into Oakes specifically to get sliced turkey and cheese from the deli to make lunch for the week. I took a number and waited for someone, anyone to acknowledge me and ask what I would like. There were at least 5 deli employees behind the counter screwing around talking with each other and ignoring the customers on the other side. There was 1 male employee helping a lady with sliced turkey. There was nobody else in line except me. I waited at least 4-5 minutes and then walked away, highly annoyed. Now I have to tell you this is not the first time I have had horrible service at Oakes deli department. It's an ongoing issue even my friends have made remarks on how poor the service is. Upon checking out the cashier even agreed with me and said it because the deli manager isn't in. And other customers have complained. Clearly the store manager need to address this issue. read more

My favorite is the chicken salad with cranberries..Soo Delish! We also ordered the Neptune salad which was fresh and tasty! The loaded potato salad made for a nice side. Tasted like a loaded baked potato. A quick stop over by the fresh baked breads and we were ready for lunch. I also grabbed a tub of fresh guacamole and a bag of tortilla chips.
