I parked in Royal Oak downtown and my wife and I attempted to use their app to pay for parking…read more This is the only way to pay for parking downtown, can't even use a credit card on the meter which most have nowadays if they don't have a coin slot. When my wife tried to pay, the app told her that parking was "free". So we went along with our lives assuming we were fine. A couple weeks later, I get a letter saying that I owe the city $2.75 for parking. It's not a lot, so I just decided to pay it. That's what I would've paid in the first place. But today, I just got another bill in the mail for a grand total of $17.25?!?! And it ends up being more like $20 with fees and crap. Literally makes me never want to park on the streets of downtown ever again. Should've parked in a parking structure and walked the extra 10 minutes to downtown. Royal Oak needs to fix their shitty ass parking meters. The next time I get a ticket from them, I will be protesting it.

Ended up doing an informal hearing, got the speed reduce to 1-5 over with no points, cheaper than I thought by almost 50buckeroos. The courthouse is extremely busy, and the staff do a good job at keeping up and keeping business running smoothly. Don't break the law and you won't have to come here. Come as a plaintiff, and usually the job gets done. Just stay on top of things and double check so there's no errors because they definitely happen in a courthouse this busy. The judges have always been fair (the ones I've encountered), and the police as well. There's bad apples in every profession so I won't let one or two spoil my rating of them. They get the job done. Of you feel they're not, then speak up and say something!

It is a non-profit organization, always looking for a helping hand. They were closed the other day when I visited. This location is run solely by volunteers, and had no signs with hours of operation. Ah, but during my visit, a couple of the volunteers happened to stop by and gave me information about the organization. I took a brief walk around the well manicured grounds and found that they have a farm museum, carriage house, root cellar, smoke house, summer kitchen, school house and of course, the Wisner Mansion. While I was there, I shot a picture of the historical marker which is prominently displayed close to the roadway. Their next big event is an Ice Cream Social on 26 JUL 2014 and it promises to be a great time. Hours of operation are 11am - 4pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, library included. As time went by, and fewer people met the eligibility requirements, membership was opened to the descendants of pioneers and other residents of the county. Throughout the 19th and 20th century, the Society collected newspapers, books, photographs, manuscripts, and artifacts relating to Oakland County, and the collections were stored in the county courthouse in downtown Pontiac. In 1945 Pine Grove, the Pontiac homestead of Governor Moses Wisner, was purchased as a headquarters for the Society. In 1962 the organization was renamed the Oakland County Pioneer and Historical Society. As part of our mission, the Society continues to devote itself to the preservation of the history and culture of Oakland County, and to maintaining the Pine Grove estate.
