They can get books you request in a pretty timely matter, are linked to other libraries to fill requests for popular or difficult to find titles. I visit at least a couple times a month and am in two book clubs. They also host making events and artists. Can't say enough good things. Love this place.

What I really love about this library is that it's an a suer convenient location that is waking distance from a lot of great bakeries and restaurants in Ferndale. The library itself is quiet but not to a deafening degree. There's some light chatter and it gets a lot of sunlight which is also a plus. The staff is super friendly and there are plenty of computers and seating available. They also have a kids corner with books, games, and other activities to keep kids occupied. I also love that there's a lot of different seating options with spacious countertops for work and individual seating if you want to study alone. Highly recommend getting some work done here or just stopping by to dig into a good book !

Staff is friendly and the building gets the job done. My only question - why are you locking the drop boxes on days the library is closed? The drop box exists outside of the library so that you can interact with it without having to visit the library. The library being closed should not impact being able to drop off a book in a bin outside the library. What are we doing here? Stop that.

Would have been nice to have access to this community center, good space. Access to the water and grounds too. The enclosed patio is quite nice. The main space was big enough for our party. Too bad we couldn't access the upstairs balcony to take cooler photos.

It was cold and rainy, so not a day for cruising the grounds, but the shuttle drivers were most accommodating. Lovely gift shop and restaurant. Brittany was our waitress and was an absolute gem. We had the shrimp and grits. My friend and I haven't seen one another in a couple years, so this visit was mostly about reconnecting, which we were completely able to do. There was no rush and we were able to chat and sip our coffee from the lovely China cups. It was a great afternoon.

And yet, the overall experience left me with one word: tacky. Not tacky in the sense of bad taste, but tacky in the way a museum can be when it doesn't trust its audience. The message throughout is clear: Please, middle class, come see how the well-to-do lived--but on our terms, at our pace, behind our ropes. You arrive, eager to explore, only to find the doors locked until a specific tour time. So you wait. Outside. Like a guest at a party no one's ready to let you into. Once inside, you're sorted: self-guided vs. those who paid more for a guided tour. I could only imagine if a self-guided were to stand close and eavesdrop! Then come the barriers. Physical and psychological. You can see how the ultra-rich lived, but do not step deep into most rooms. Velvet ropes whisper stay back. Much of the art has been replaced with copies--originals long ago donated to the DIA (how generous, but also how convenient for security). Even the books are brazenly zip-tied together, presumably to deter mischief or theft. A low point? The kitchen. There, plastic, shiny faux-food--maybe straight from Target's preschool toy aisle--sits arranged to show what a prep area might have looked like. A plastic ham! A plastic cake! Oh, in a prep area! You crane your neck into an ahead-of-its-time bathroom like a zoo visitor spotting a rare animal. Yes, this very bathroom. The one someone used. Then you learn it wasn't ahead-of-its-time bathroom--this was what wealth bought for you! There's the playhouse--charming, yes, with electricity. Oh, it's a house. The Ford's philanthropy, parenting, and perfection are woven into every communication: nannies were present, but they were involved. Citizens, yes. Philanthropists, absolutely. Divine beings, apparently. The whole thing feels less like history and more like hagiography--a shrine to benevolent gods who once walked among us, now preserved in amber and zip ties. Verdict: Tacky. See it on your own if you must, but honestly, try an online tour first. It probably has more dimension, access, and interesting details than what you'll get on foot.

What a great feeling and honor to walk into the City of Roseville municipal office and library!…read moreEven though I am no longer a resident of Roseville since 1993, I grew up in Roseville as a child, teenager and adult along with 10 years of "Cruising Gratiot" in my many rust bomb cars to a few hot rod fancy classics. On this check in with my 87 year-old Mother we were walking up the sidewalk to enter the building to pay her winter tax and water bill. She was overwhelmed as well as myself to see and read the bronze history plaques along our walk with memorable information, and history of our city. (SEE MY MANY PHOTOS). The flagpole was flying the American Flag, City flag, with the State of Michigan flag. The statues along the way were clean and glossy polished. Inside I photographed the library door with hours along with the plaque of board members for the city. Since my mother is having memory issues she was happy to read the current names of them to refresh herself since she worked in the City Assessors office in the 1970's. The treasurer Michael Switalski is always happy to see my Mom and myself since I went to Roseville High school with his younger sister. All the departmemts along with their employee's are pleasant and available at the counters when needed. Also in the area is the police station along with the circuit court offices. I never had to use those 2 department's or building in my young adult life and while driving on Gratiot. I was always obeying the law and speed limit on the weekends. In conclusion it's a great feeling to drive by, or stop in here to assist my Mom and remember the good old days of Roseville!

RPL has a substantial collection of books, magazines, and papers - I cannot find an exact figure, but compared to the size of Royal Oak PL, it's about 3/4 the size, bookwise. RPL also offers an extensive online presence, both on site computers linked to a digital library and other catalogs including full text of local newspapers, which are also available for at-home viewing using your library card as a login. The one thing that RPL falls short on is with events. Now, they do have a strong summer reading program and a great once a month book sale (which I highly recommend. There's some treasures here), they don't have much in the way of arts. After being at Royal Oak PL and seeing that they have performing arts in an auditorium, as well as special guest writers, playwrights, musicians, film screenings (which RPL has also, but geared mostly towards children's cinema)... RPL just can't hold up to some of the other libraries in the area. Of course, I can't mention Detroit PL because it's king considering events AND selection size. Still, RPL is a great place to find books, whether you're a kid or an adult. It's the place that made me love to read - bring your kids here and maybe they'll become bookworms too!

24 Hour Library…read more Kresge has been my dwelling place for late nights of cramming. The library has wonderful amenities that are available for students as well as guests. I love the interlibrary loan and the writing resources for students. The library website can be the best resource a hard-working student can have. Library OneSearch is a new search engine that features everything from the library catalog and other library databases. OneSearch also includes scholarly content publishers and view results ranked by relevance. The library is now open 24/5 for OU Students from Sunday through Thursday and closes at 2 on Fridays and Saturdays.

They have an atrium where you can snack and be loud, but the inside has the expectation of quiet! They have a little "bookstore" at the very front, I assume for books they want to retire, and operate off the honor system! Everything is $3 or LESS! Lots of carts marked $1 or 2/$1. I think they may have reading classes or story hour for children in the mornings, I got here at 9:30 and heard what sounded like a teacher talking to parents about their kids! They have toy bags and activities for young kids, a fish tank, and a globe! It's overall a really comfy place to spend quiet time in the Word.
