This has been my go to spot the last 2 years for my christmas tree. They have a nice selection in a variety of price ranges. I like how they have the trees hanging from the ceiling but not wrapped up so you can still pick out the shape you want. Their staff members will cut it down from the ceiling, wrap it and help you to your vehicle with it. If you come at the right time of the season they even have fresh kettle corn for sale and last year there was a coffee truck. I came the week before Thanksgiving and there was no coffee truck but there was kettle corn. The nursery is quite large and sells everything else you can imagine but I have only came for a Christmas tree. The parking lot is large and easy to get in and out of. It is also right next to lots of other shopping. I will definitely keep coming back for my Christmas tree. read more

One of my favorite haunts. They always have a good selection of perennials. In the spring and fall they sell bulk bulbs that allows you to try a couple handfuls of something new. I shop here often to earn a nice gift certificate each year as a loyalty reward. read more

Treated very rudely by a "manager" when trying to return a $29.00 plant for exchange after just spending $1000+. She gave me the 3rd degree interrogation and was accusatory of my blame for the plant not surviving. Great selection but sub-par customer service. Went in today to browse as we had a coupon for 10 free tulip bulbs with purchase. These bulbs are only 16 cents normally, but still kind of fun. They were out of the bulbs and I accidentally picked out another variety of 16 cent flower bulbs instead. When I went to check out they said they were the wrong bulbs and I would have to come back another time as they were out of stock. This is after making a $50 purchase. I said no I wouldn't come back for the $1.60 worth of bulbs but since they were the same price could I just keep these. They were very adamant about the fact they were the wrong bulb and since they were out of stock I would have to come back. Just really stayed with me as a poor customer service experience after dealing with this rude woman at the check out counter who was texting when we got to the counter might I add. Granted it's $1.60 we are talking about but they should seriously take a look at their customer service model and try to capture new business like mine with honoring the reason I actually came in. I would expect great customer service from a local nursery as a differentiator over the big hardware stores. read more

I go to Oakland every year to buy my Christmas tree! The tree selections are nice and the prices are reasonable, if you have a coupon it's even better! Coupons can be found in the Sunday paper. Oakland has a wide variety of interesting gift ideas. It's always fun to look around and see what's new. I love the feel of their shop and the way it is set up. read more

Being from out of town (State) I stopped in here just in case they had something I had never seen before and of course I rented a truck just in case I found something large! However, though they had a huge selection and some unusual trees and shrubs - not everything was marked, but what was marked wasn't on the expensive side - at least not to those who know much about the strange and unusual. The selection, variety and price were all within reason and there was plenty of parking. What I did find odd was that there was no one around to ask any questions. I could have purchased something - anything - but I couldn't find what I wanted and didn't have a lot of time to really look around. If you live in the area - I'd certainly stop in here and take a look around - I'd probably plan on spending 30 to 45 minutes looking though, but I bet you find something! read more

I really enjoy browsing here and we buy hundreds of dollars worth of plants every year we've lived in c-bus. A heads up, though - if you have a tree delivered and planted by them -or their contractor who does the planting for them, they throw the whole thing in the ground - burlap, wire basket and all. Also they brought no compost or fertilizer. I'm aware that this is common practice for some planters- but I'd never seen it done and wanted it done without the wire basket and burlap - which I was told would rot over time - but was told that I would have to do that myself and that would void the warranty of the tree. Delivery and planting was $150 for one tree. Live and learn. read more

I've been going to Oakland (original location and Delaware) for years. Recently I was in at the Delaware location looking for specific plants. The two people I inquired with outside acted like i was bugging them and one made a comment that if they aren't out then they don't have it (in a very condescending way). Like I was wrong asking for help locating a certain plant. Just very rude. I asked someone to call another location to check their stock and again very little help. I really love going in here I swear I lose myself every time! I just love how friendly people are here literally I go in no matter what time of day it is and they are all smiling and willing to help me! I love when the spring season Comes and they have various plants to choose from (I mean year round it's still amazing!) I love that they have a green house that's my favorite sometimes I just go I To walk around because it's so wonderful. Lots of really cool stuff, but holy hell is it over-priced... $40 for A SHOVEL? I can get the same qaulity shovel at Tractor Supply for $10. Also, their trees, the apple & pear trees were $40+, & their Willow trees, $150+, SAME trees at Tractor Supply (except TSC's were taller) $19.99. So that being said, we got a bunch of ideas, then hit up the back wall where they keep shrubs that are out of season (for $5, each, that's a good deal, we got many). Also we bought various seeds from them, as they have a pre-labled price, so those were consistant with other stores. They're glad bulbs, at .24cents each was another decent price. But I did see them at TSC today, 25 bulbs for $4, grrrrrrrr..... So although they have a lot of beautiful things, I can't spend triple the price. After getting those few items, we went to TSC, bought a ton of beautiful trees, then I ordered everything else in seed for from Ebay. Oh, also the clerk told us when we were checking out there's acoupon on their website, $5 off every $20 you spend.... Well we spent almost $200, & since we didn't have the coupon we didn't get the discount. Had she not told me, I would've never known, but since she did I was kind of put off. I almost said to return everything & we'd be back with a coupong, but a half hour drive, then an hour to gather everything, with a fussy baby, meant I didnt want to do it all over again... They should've just given us the discount so we left feeling better about the purchase, instead I just feel like I threw away money... read more

Thanks Jason Lange!!!! I stopped into Oakland Nursery in Delaware Ohio today to ask about fruit trees. I asked the young man that came to help me, if he knew anything about trees, given the fact that so often in other store workers don't know anything. Jason Lange proceeded to tell me everything I needed to know about fruit trees. I was so amazed. I told him he needed to write a book! If I ever have any other questions about how to care for my trees, how to keep animals from harming them or how to get better fruit, I will seek advice from Jason.
