Well, I guess I wouldn't say it's close, but it's closer than going to the west end. My guy recommended this dentist, as this is the one he goes to, so I figured, why not make this our family dentist. Huzzah. This dentist must be pretty busy because I called in for an appointment and they were able to schedule me in a month later. No biggie, I had no pressing issues to speak of. When I arrived, it was a blustery typically rainy Glasgow day so I was quite happy that it was so warm and toasty inside the Dentists doors. The waiting room is full of antique furniture, I almost felt as though I had stepped back in time. Very cozy indeed, I was able to relax a bit while I waited to be seen. When I was taken back for my check up, I was greeted by friendly staff and we got down to business. I spoke of a few small issues I was having and without even blinking, we were off and running, chatting about the ins and outs of teeth, and how mine are pretty great. (Years of braces and the want to keep them as clean as possible probably helps). I quite enjoyed that the dentist was chatty, as it helped ease any anxiety I have about being in the dentist chair. I'm back in a few weeks for a cleaning and it's funny to think that I'm actually looking forward it it.

Can you go as far as to say you love the Dentist?…read more If it were possible I would say I loved this one. Although no one wants to go to the dentist McCarte and Swan's is just about the least intimidating, most friendly surgeons you could hope to find in the centre of Glasgow. They're based on Douglas St in a surgery that used to be a house. With comfy chairs, Smooth Radio in the background and a cozy, living room ambience, it's hard to feel nervous. You may have to wait a couple of weeks to be seen so if you can afford to, book in advance. They do, however, offer emergency appointments, are open late on certain week days and will strive to see you as quickly as possible should you require assistance. And you know, even when you do get to the part where you're sitting in the chair, the dentists and nurses are so good you're out before you can blink. I've been in for some pretty painful infections in the past and had to get a number of jags in one day but the crazy thing is I don't remember it being as sore or unpleasant as it could've been. My dentist is Dr McCarte and he always offers friendly advice and chats away. So even in the most severe cases he goes out of his way to make your life a lot easier - he seems completely at ease which also helps. The general upkeep of your teeth is up to you but a check up and tooth cleaning in here is just over ten pounds and it seems to ward off any further infections. Dr McCarte always keeps up with you and even though he is a very busy man he always remembers you, making it feel more like a family surgery as opposed to merely a service. If you ever do have dental problems, his empathetic but pragmatic approach is always a huge help. So after my earlier years being fearful of the dentists, I can honestly say that Dr McCarte and his professional staff has eradicated my concerns, making my dental health a lot more manageable with minimal stress. The attitude, work and interest from all staff mark this surgery a cut above others, and each individual is an asset to the health profession.

I had toothache for close to a year, and the reason that l didn't go back to one was that the last one wanted close to a thousand pounds to have it seen to. My friend and I were leaving in the morning to make our way to the Scottish Highlands and I knew I had to be seen before our departure. I emailed 2 emergency dental clinics. Hammaad, the dentist, emailed me soon after they opened at 8:30 am and said he could fit me in at 9:15 am. I called him as requested and told him I would be on my way. The location was easy to find. Every single employee at the clinic was so kind. I was seen right away and they quickly took x-rays and started on my root canal. I told Hammaad that I was leaving to go to the Highlands and not returning to Glasgow. So he made sure to set me up for success. He cleaned out my tooth that had a bad infection. He constantly asked how I was doing during the procedure. Afterwards he gave me antibiotics to make sure the infection would go away. He told me he would call me the next day to check on me and called me while I was still in the office to ensure he would be able to get a hold of me. The cost of the last minute appointment, x-rays, and the root canal was 299 pounds. I paid out of pocket since I am a US citizen. But it was worth every penny as we all know toothaches are the worst. They gave me directions to the pharmacy and it took just a few minutes to pick up my prescriptions. Hammaad called me the next morning to check on me which was thoughtful and kind of him. I highly recommend this dental clinic. Everything and everyone was perfect from start to finish. I was able to still make it to the highlands and enjoy my holiday without any further pain. Thank you, Hammaad.

Going to a new place is always a bit worrying because you don't really know if they are any good but my boss has been using Kelburne as his dentist since he was 1 year old so that reassured me. The nerves settled more and more the longer I was in this dentist. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and went about things efficiently Cleanliness and hygiene excellent and with very modern equipment and decor - so one by one my anxieties disappeared. The dentist spotted my problem right away and took time to explain what had caused it. The treatment was painless and the toothache problem fixed and I didn't need to get the tooth out. Before I left I was given a printed list of further possible treatments that would be needed to finish the job, and their costs. I felt I was being treated by people who were interested in me, and not just another mouth and source of money, and left feeling as if I had been looked after by friends. I realised on my second visit that no only are there u to date magazines in the waiting room, there's a big flatscreen TV and free wifi for patients. Treatment went well, but when I suggested that I was thinking of splashing out to get my front teeth crowned, the dentist threw his hands up in horror and explained why this would be a bad idea, and a very expensive and unnecessary treatment. So full marks to everyone at Kelburne.

I'm updating my review very quickly, as I have been at this practice 3 times in the last 3 weeks,…read moreand I'm really happy with the treatment and service that I have received every time. This place genuinely deserves its 5 stars. For a dentist, I think that in itself is truly remarkable! Firstly, Preeti is the loveliest dentist on earth. She is so reassuring, so patient, and just has such a lovely manner. I feel in very safe hands with Preeti. Since my initial visit, I have had a further 2 visits, to have composite put onto 3 of my teeth, as I have very bad enamel erosion, for various annoying reasons. I have been really scared of injections into my mouth my entire life. I think I must have had one when I was a child and have had the fear ever since. My whole adult life, I have not had any injections into my mouth. So for the first treatment with Preeti, I had no injection, and had composite put onto 2 front teeth. I was getting a bit tense and a bit jumpy, and jumpy is not good when you are having composites put on, so Preeti very patiently suggested that perhaps I had had enough for one day, and she would do the third tooth another time. That was a great suggestion. I had a week to build up courage, and today I actually took an injection. I was a bit jumpy again the first time she tried so the lovely nurse held onto my hands, and the ever-patient Preeti ever so gently did the injection. And then the treatment was SO MUCH EASIER! Honestly, I couldn't feel a thing. I couldn't feel my nose never mind my lips or teeth for a few hours afterwards either, but that doesn't matter. If like me, you have been scared of mouth-jags, take it from me - just DO IT. Get it done and the treatment will be so much better, honestly. Preeti has helped me overcome my life-long fear, and I will be forever grateful. The dental nurse on reception was so nice again - I love her too. I even got an Elsa from Frozen sticker cos I was such a brave girl, hahahaaa! I'm really happy with the results so far. I've now to wait 3 months, using my special toothpaste, then I've to go back to talk about the possible next stage - more orthodontics. Strangely, now that I feel in safe hands, I'm almost looking forward to this.

However, Partick…read moreDental Practice is adorned with huge yellow posters saying that they are doing just that. I got in early. Registering was quick and easy - although to make your initial appointment (as with every other appointment) there is a deposit of £10. This deposit is supposed to be refundable if you attend your appointment - but it usually goes towards any fees that you have to pay. For example, you have to pay for x-rays and teeth cleaning - and so your £10 deposit will go towards these. On the plus side, this dentist practice is open on Saturdays and till quite late on Monday night (7pm). However, waiting times are long, as you would expect, especially if you're wanting an appointment on a Monday night or a Saturday. Expect to wait over a month. The dentists in this practice all seem to be quite young and newly qualified - but are all nice and friendly. Partick Dental Practice is bright and clean - and also offers cosmetic procedures.

I'm sorta doing this review on behalf of my boyfriend and fellow Yelp partner in crime. Yeah,…read morethat's right, Mr B - I'm stealing the first review, bitch! The Berkeley Clinic specialises in cosmetic dentistry and cosmetic treatments such as Botox. For teeth, they seem very clued up and professional. Their dentists are very prestigious and have won awards, including Young Dentist of the Year. The Clinic couldn't really be described as a surgery - it's clean, more like a salon. It's very progressive, and the Clinic has brought new teeth repairing techniques to Glasgow, such as 6 week orthodontics and safe ways of removing mercury amalgam fillings. They do this in a very secure setting, and make sure that the patient doesn't inadvertantly breathe in the fumes of their old mercuy filling. In the long term, it keeps your mouth clean and safe. They seem very quick and apt at getting to the source of your oral problems, seeing that the patient is kept in the know at all times on what treatment is best for them. It's very personal, and their non evasive way of scanning teeth and projecting the results to the patient quickens lengthy, archaic procedures of taking moulds. They also have panic buttons on the side of their chairs so if you are geting a filling or feel uncomfortable in any way, you can stop treatment immediately by turning off the equipment. This gives the patient a feeling of control, which is the idea behind why they put such techniques in place. They run an anxiety workshop to help alleviate your fears even further. Crowns, veneers and bridges are costly, but the lasting effects seem aboslutely excellent. The dentists work alongside the guys who do shows such as Extreme Makeover, so as far as cosmetic dentistry goes they are great at bringing the magic. Overall, the Berkeley Clinic's consultations and procedures take you out of the chair and into modern dentistry. My boyfriend received a goodie bag that looked like he'd been away a spa weekend, and his dentist is giving him a diet program to help keep future tooth decay at bay. They are equally as good at helping the patient realise why their teeth are a certain way, and giving them control over fixing the problem. I have a really bad snaggle tooth and know what it's like to have a smile that I'm a wee bit embarrassed of. I would give an arm and aleg to get my teeth fixed in here, because as the Clinic outline they know that adults can feel socially insecure if they aren't proud of their teeth. The professionals here encourage good habits and offer great techniques which can give you a Hollywood smile years before braces can. When I have more money, I'll stop by the Clinic and swap my fang for some sparkly gnashers, and it'll be a good day!

I have to say that after the experiences I've had at other dentists, THIS was incredible. If you…read morehave any dental work needing done you would be an idiot not to go here. Can't thank them enough for what they have done.
