Well, unfortunately, while the service was nice, and that this place had a pretty decent atmosphere, and a lovely beer garden, I can't really say that it was one of my favourites. Mind you, it was a nice pub, and certainly a reasonable one to sit down with a beer, but with all the other great places nearby, it is hard to compete.

The place is really wide and open, with plenty of space, although I'm sure it would get packed out on a Friday or Saturday night. The food menu is also decent, but averages $15-$20 for a meal, so it's not cheap as chips, but not fancy restaurant either, although by the looks of the menu, the food is just a shigh quality. It's a great place if you're looking for the pub meal, but the pub atmosphere, but maybe also want a bit more of a contemporary styling. And you can stop off at the bottle-o attached to the bar and bistro and take something home; the staff there are really helpful to when you're not sure of what you want. List your range and general product type, and they'll take you for a browse.

My other friend had the burger and was also happy with that. This pub has changed so many times over the 20 years I have lived down the road. It is right on Pennant Hills Road. It is much brighter and cleaner now than it has been in a very long time. The new renovations are truly amazing. I personally think it kind of looks and feels a bit RSL club like. If they would add some more soft furnishings and a lot more plants it might take this feeling away. But then maybe that is the feeling they were going for. There is a nice function room that has all the soft furnishings and differently set up than the club looking atmosphere. It was open when we were there but I don't know if that was for anyone or if it was being used for a function. There is an area for kids to play that is very popular. The day I was there I will tell you there were babies crying quit a bit :( There is a nice outdoor beer garden. They have a few large TV screens around the place too. It's nice that they have a place for kids and if loud kids bother you, kids are not so bad later at night. They have a sports bar with a pokie area a pool table a large TV and of course a TAB that is separate from the eating area. Mind you, there was a public holiday the next day, so I am not all that surprised, and it was also the middle of summer. Ironically there is a courtyard in the middle of the hotal, for the smokers, that isn't actually shut off from the rest of the pub. Its changed management several times lost its beer garden (courtyard full of smokers) but now has an internal area which is pretty cool decked out with plants on the wall. I really like the beer of the month rotation John Boston on at the momment which is not to bad. Still one of my go too pubs when I want something local and easy.

Most locals refer to the pub as the "Pymbie", drawing in workmen for its cheap steaks and a beer or two. Upstairs houses functions and can hold over 100 people. Unfortunately the bistro closes relatively early in the evenings if you want a bite to eat. The food is good and there is plenty of entertainment from the standard pub trivia night to pool competitions and social events. I certainly wouldn't recommend this place for a big night out- it's usually quieter than a mouse.
