You can always judge a place by their staff and you can tell Stephen Marr is awesome because their staff are awesome. They always look really fashionable, are friendly, and willing to go above and beyond for their customers. I recently went to the Takapuna Salon to get my hair done for a wedding but had booked in at the Newmarket one. Oops. Luckily they rearranged their day to fit me in and I am so grateful as if they hadn't I would've had to of tamed my crazy hair myself! That would not have been fun at all. The salon is also an amazing place with plant walls and cool industrial furniture. They also gave me an awesome coffee to enjoy while being pampered which won me over even more.

With the only instruction being "pleeeeease fix it", Donni and her colourist Dani set to work and within a few hours I was walking out of there with freshly cut ends and creamy blond highlights. Before Jerome, I had actually stopped dying my hair because I was sick of being disappointed after forking out a cool $250/$300 on a cut and colour that was poorly done or not what I wanted. Things were getting dire as my regrowth went past the stage where I could legitimately pass it off as balayage and so I booked an apt at Oscar & Co. I could tell Jerome was going to be great from the get go. He did a really thorough consultation before we got started and then absolutely delivered on both the cut and colour. But the cherry on top was that he asked if i'd like to come in the following week for a free blow dry, "just to check-in and see if I wanted any styling tips." What a champ! Having previously used Toni & Guy salons for a while in the UK and also once in Kuala Lumpur, I thought it would be a sensible move to go to a brand I could trust whilst here in Auckland. Luckily the Auckland salon didn't disappoint. The girl I had, Vicki, was really attentive and listened to exactly what I wanted before making a start on my cut. She worked really quickly; usually my short hair takes around an hour and a half, but Vicki did the cut in little over an hour including hair wash and head massage and a blow-dry. The salon is modern, tidy and provided a great atmosphere and all of the staff I came across were really friendly. At $70, I thought the cut was a reasonable price and I was able to walk out of the salon pleased with the overall result. I am confident I will return there next time and would highly recommend Vicki.

Definitely going in a little nervous, worried and skeptical, I came out feeling completely the opposite. The staff knew exactly what I wanted and delivered more than I'd hoped for. They let me know what they were doing at every step of the way. And they were also really fast! Definitely a plus for me as I've been on salons for over three hours sometimes and it is not fun, there's only so many magazines you can read. I love this place and will definitely be back there next time. Really sorry to my other salon, but this place has seriously won my heart over.

My main reason for this review - my jacket got damaged by their air conditioning unit dripping onto the suede. A staff member had offered to take my jacket from me and hung it up on a for me, while I was seated at the mirror. I noticed later on that it had been moved from the peg she placed it on, when I went to get it. Picking up my jacket, I noticed it was sopping wet on one sleeve and at the back. I am very unhappy that staff not told me my jacket was wet when they moved it tor a different hook and placed a bucket on the ground, beneath the heavy drip. The store owner did not offer to get it dry cleaned. She wanted to dry it with a hair dryer. I had to push for any offer of discount due to my wet jacket. I was given $10 discount. I have just discovered at home now after drying my jacket naturally, that the jacket is badly stained, now that it is dry. I don't know if the mark will come out with dry cleaning. I am very disappointed that the owner was too tight with her money to offer to dry clean my expensive suede jacket when I was in the salon. She wanted to do the cheap easy way to use a hair dryer to dry it. I now have the fight to get them to get my jacket professionally cleaned. I am really not happy with their service.

Sam was so lovely and calm and a rarity for hairdressers - she actually did what she said she was going to! None of this "I'll only take off an inch" only to go on and hack it all away. Sam was incredibly understanding and made me feel completely safe in her expert hands.
