What an incredible first time experience I had at Women's Choice in Lakeland, FL!!! I am currently…read more16 weeks pregnant and was unsure as to where I should go in regards to help with baby preparation (i.e. parenting classes, breast feeding suggestions, necessary baby items, car seat safely, sleeping safety, parental encouragement, etc.) While using google to find resources, Women's Choice popped up, so I gave them a call. The very first phone conversation with a young lady named Angel, was absolutely delightful and very informative. She was polite and explained the program in detail- I never felt rushed or uncomfortable with the questions I needed answered. She took her time with me and was very patient. Angel scheduled me for an appointment the same week I called and kept in contact with me prior to my appointment. Once I arrived at the facility, it was homey, clean, organized and inviting. I was assigned to Mrs. Amy for the intake process and what a blessing she was to me that day. It was as if I was talking to my mom, my counselor and a teacher all at the same time. She went above and beyond to educate me about the programs offered and to actually listen to my story to see how Women's Choice could best assist me in this pregnancy and after birth. She actually brought me to tears with her sincere compassion and empathy. She made my experience one that I will NEVER forget. During the same day, after my intake process, they were actually able to get me in for my first ultrasound!!! I was excited and nervous, but the ladies at Women's Choice surrounded me with love and affection. Angel (I think the name says it all) was a breath of fresh air as she completed my ultrasound. She made me feel calm and relaxed while doing my ultrasound - I was so nervous. But those beautiful individuals helped me through a very tender moment in my life and I am so genuinely grateful for Women's Choice. I would definitely recommend this program to any women out there who are undecided or don't know where to go for help during pregnancy. Trust me, it will be the best decision that you make for you and your little one, whatever decision you decide. Women's Choice will be a support system and resource that you will NOT regret. Regardless of anyone's religious beliefs, what my girlfriend experienced here was completely out of line and unprofessional. She had marked 'none' for religion on the intake form, but they still brought it up multiple times during the appointment. They questioned her about it directly: 'I see you put none for religion--why is that?' First off, she put none. Leave it alone. She was caught off guard by this and said it was a mistake. Next they followed up with, 'What does your relationship with God look like? Is it good, bad, or something that needs work?' She felt so uncomfortable that she just said 'good' to move on. Then they escalated by asking, 'When you die, where do you think you'll go?' Who in their right mind as any type of medical consultant (I use this word VERY lightly) pressures a pregnant woman in a vulnerable moment with questions about her eternal fate is outrageous and has no place in a medical or support setting. They kept probing about her church attendance and how often she prays, where she had been baptized etc., We had zero idea this was a religiously affiliated center beforehand, and while we respect people's faith, this kind of aggressive proselytizing during such a sensitive time is unacceptable. I had to retype my Yelp review because yelp took it down, but she then responded on google "If you wish not to speak about spiritual matters, then just ask. Perhaps your girlfriend was caught off guard and couldn't express it". HOW ABOUT YOU DONT ASK A PREGNANT LADY WHERE SHES GOING TO GO WHEN SHE DIES???? I WOULDN'T EVEN ASK A CHRISTIAN LADY THAT! The website is incredibly misleading. They say they provider free STI testing & yearly physicals, but they actually refer you to a different off-site clinic, where the services are not free. This they are not medical providers and cannot provide you any medical advice. Even the limited number of ultrasounds they provide do not diagnose problems in your pregnancy or defects with your baby. DO NOT waste your time going here - the only thing they provide is a pregnancy test that you can pick up for $6 at a local pharmacy. They say they will give you diapers and baby wipes for free, but actually you have to "earn" them by taking their programs. Staff at these kinds of places coerce women who are considering contraception & abortion and scare them with inaccurate information about reproductive health care. This place does not provide abortion care, which they hide in small print on their intake form. They also push you towards adoption and giving up your baby if you do not think you can support a child. They may even delay the fake "results" of your ultrasound, so you are forced to carry your pregnancy to term.
