The hotel is located in the former Observatory of the Canterbury Collage which is now the Arts Centre. The building has all of the original historic character, with a wonderful library near reception, complete with local history, art and culture books to browse through and Nespresso and tea amenities. Our room was on the top, third floor with a nice view of some of the historic buildings. Loved the dormer windows, exposed beams and our bed was very comfy with down pillows, nice big shower and comfortable seating. There is a spotless, small gym in the basement with treadmills, bike, weights and yoga mats. We had the optional continental breakfast which was kept spotlessly clean and filled up by the attendant. This is held on the top floor in an atrium with a deck (in good weather). Time reservations are required as it is a small space. They had gluten free options including an excellent muesli , several yogurt types and nice cheeses, pastries, fruit, etc. Wish there was a better selection of meats, perhaps smoked salmon.
Overall we would stay again as it was very comfortable, staff were excellent and everything was clean and renovated to the highest standards. The art on the walls was also enjoyable to look at and is for sale. read more
