OC Kids Cawthon is designed for kids ages 6 weeks to however old they are before reaching kindergarten. Each of the teachers here are positive role models and clearly display their love of little ones. On a daily basis, these teachers stay dedicated to the well-being and safety of every single kid in their care. It's impressive to watch. Each room is beautifully decorated with positive phrases, pictures of the kids, and then of course there are the crafts upon crafts created by the kids! If your kid is ever creating a not-so-safe atmosphere for others, the teachers will give an earnest attempt to correct the situation before sending your kid home. Our son has had his fair share of being sent home for his harmful behavior towards others, but in being sent home, he has learned that if he wants to stay at school, he needs to make better choices. Both my kids having been going here since August. My daughter is in the infant room and my son is in the 3 year old room. I have nothing but great things to say about oc kids! They communicate so well with us. And you can tell the teachers and assistants are so great and really have the kids best interests at heart. My son has been attending this daycare since 15 months old. The staff is very sweet. He's currently in the infant program (baby - 24 months). I was really worried about his care since he's been at home with Grandma since birth. He's really adjusted so well. He's socially more outgoing and even does art projects. There are usually 2-3 people watching him and the other children. He comes home happy & seems to have had a good time. I knew he was doing just fine with his care there when one day he didn't even want to go home. He wanted to show his Momma around. :) I'd definitely reccommend the infant program for this facility. Miss Andrea really helped my son with the adjustment period. He really likes her. Also, the rest of the staff is really warm & friendly. I'm so happy that my 5 year old and 2 year old attend OC kids! They always look forward to going to school, the teachers are friendly and always engaged with the children. I feel confident that my children are safe, happy and learning so much in their care, and there's not much more to ask for than that! I am not one to post reviews, but as a mother I feel obligated to spare another family from the nightmare that OC Kids turned out to be, as I relied on Yelp reviews when choosing them for childcare but quickly found they are just money hungry and not willing to give your child the care that they need. Our experience quickly turned for the worst when our daughter came home with severe diaper rashes at the end of every week. We had previously informed the staff of how to care for our daughter during diaper changes and provided several diaper creams in order to avoid diaper rashes. Clearly, this was never followed as our daughter came home with terrible diaper rashes by the end of every week that she attended. Our daughter spent 6 hours a day, 5 days a week in the infant room. I stopped by at different hours in the afternoon throughout the week to pick up our daughter and several times she had a heavy soiled diaper. I am assuming she would sit in her bowel movements for longer than the two hour rule that they claim to have for diaper changes in order for her diaper rash to get so bad. There was never any record of her diaper changes as the daily log sheet was never filled out in regards to diaper changes or naps. The communication system between the teachers and directors is basically non-existent once you are enrolled and they have secured their $1,300 a month from you. After 3 weeks of rashes, we decided to write an email to assistant director Ms. Amy about our concern and reiterating they please be more watchful for dirty diapers and asked that they follow her diaper cream regimen. This email was ignored, we never received any feedback, not an apology, not any reassurance that they would address the issue. Nothing. When I brought up the issue in person to Ms. Andrea again during drop off she agreed that they would be more careful and quickly brushed off the issue. One of the last few days my daughter stayed at OC Kids, she had to be put down for a diaper change while I was still in the room and it was the most heartbreaking thing to hear her cry in fear of a diaper change. She was in so much pain. A few hours after dropping her off, I received a call with several excuses of why my daughter needed to be picked up early. They claimed, loose stools, and a runny nose. None of which were true. On this day, suddenly the daily log sheet showed record of bowel movements. My husband had to leave work and miss the next day to take her to the doctor per their requirements to return. Our doctor concluded that she was healthy, all allegations were false and instead he agreed that OC Kids simply found it easier to send our daughter home and not deal with the difficult diaper changes due to the rashes that she had because of their negligence. Our pediatrician had to prescribe a steroid cream to get her better, we had never had to go to this extreme to treat a diaper rash and really disliked the idea but had to do it in order to bring our daughter back to health. OC Kids is negligent, fails to communicate and reassure parents that they are willing to give the appropriate care your child needs. They are also unreliable, as they pick and choose which of their rules will force you to leave work and pick up your child when they do not want to give them the extra care they need. To top it all off, they trashed my daughter's picture and art that was posted in the classroom before I even made it to pick up her belongings the same day I sent our separation from childcare email. We couldn't get our one year old out of their fast enough, we hope our 1 year old did not suffer any additional negligence or maltreatment while under their care. They have no surveillance cameras which now seems suspicious to me as to why they don't want any record of what goes on in this classroom. They also act very annoyed if you call throughout the day to check on your child. I would avoid this place at all costs. For the price, there are other nearby options with better communication, care and actually care to earn your trust and work hard to meet your child's specific needs. read more

My son has excelled in his early intervention program and no longer meets medical necessity nor qualifies for an IEP. I am a huge advocate for early intervention due to my witnessing his growth. However I have learned from this agency that because of his history it does not matter how well he is adjusted, he will still needs an ABA to begin attending this school. This is impossible since he no longer qualifies for an ABA. It's unfortunate that although I have been a huge advocate for my son and helped him reach normal developmental milestones, the owner suggested that I did not want the best interest for my son because I could not provide an ABA. Nor is she willing to meet him or assess him. I am saddened that children with ASD are being treated as if they "need help" without an assessment or expressing any unmet needs. As a LMFT and child advocate I'm saddened that people in the community are scared of children's behaviors because of a diagnosis rather than the child's behavior itself. read more

3 days ago, I was so excited to see my 2 1/2 year old attend her first day at the OC KIDS CHILDCARE pre-school, with the expectation that we are entrusting this institution, with its staff, to care and love our daughter as if she was their own. With high spirits and the expectation of her crying on her first day, I had the utmost confidence that it would eventually pass after we had left her in the care of the staff......until, my worst nightmare came true...I received a text message of pictures of my daughter, sent by her mother, clearly showing a hand print bruise and fingernail indentations on the inside part of her bicep, painting a picture that someone had clearly held my daughter by the arm with so much force, it left bruises on her arm....mind you, a 2 1/2 year old! To my shock, I immediately became angry to the point of being unable to sleep, just thinking about what I am going to say to these people whom we TRUSTED and now have brought HARM to my child. Clearly, the staff is incompetent, unapologetic, and unprofessional, except for one person whom we thought gave us an honest and heartfelt answer yet left us with more questions than answers. It is too bad that one particular staff member, who felt the need to forcefully control our child, has not only hurt herself and her career, but the whole staff and the facility, needs to accept the blame and responsibility for what they've done to our child. They have staff members caring for smaller children who have no children of their own, which leads me to believe, that they have no daily child rearing experience whatsoever! The Director also needs to learn how to protect the children and not the integrity of the COMPANY as she represented the facility with very poor customer service, apologizing, though insincere, because she already knew the amount of trouble she and the facility were in, then compounding the problem with saying that '....maybe our child DID NOT belong there as she was a handful..." To place blame on our child is ridiculous and absurd. So you mean to tell me, the way you handled my child was an acceptable act? I think not! Apparently, it was enough to warrant such an action, that they had to be PHYSICAL with our daughter. I'm 6'0 ft 205lbs, yes it requires strength to calm her down, but not to the point of using so much strength that it left a hand print/ bruise marks and nail marks on my baby's arm. So its been 2 days, since the incident.....no phone calls to apologize, nor to remedy the situation. I had to call the office to obtain the refund. They didn't even offer to give us our tuition back. If I didn't ask, they would have kept it and called our situation 'an accident' only it was not an accident. To any parent who is worried about leaving their child at a facility such as this one, make sure the staff is fully qualified, you agree to the rules, and have full trust in them. It's sad, looked like they knew what they were doing....apparently not! I DO NOT recommend this place at all. read more

My review is based in a tour. I honestly couldn't wait to leave the building after watching the way that staff was interacting with the children. I witnessed a total lack of respect for their little personalities. I didn't feel that individual strengths or needs were tolerated let alone respected. I couldn't imagine ever leaving my daughter in their care. read more

I don't know why it's taken me so long to give this lovely place a review. Maybe because there are so many great things to be said!! My 2 kids attended OC Kids (Cawthon) with my oldest being there for almost 4 years. The only reason we left was because we moved away from Orange County. We left a year ago and my son still asks about his teachers and remembers all the activities he did. He started preschool right after we moved and he was SO prepared because of the hardworking and caring staff. I wanted my kids to experience something other than "just a daycare" and they delivered! They really get to know your child and their individual needs. They are wonderful at communicating any issues that arise. I really could just go on and on about this place! read more

Feel confident sending your child to OC Kids! Our daughter was 8 weeks premature so you can imagine our apprehension in sending her to daycare at 4months old, 2 months adjusted. OC Kids made us feel so comfortable! If it wasn't for the amazing teachers, I don't know how I could have gone back to work. Now 10 months old, our daughter loves to go to "school" to see her favorite teachers, play with the other children and all the fun toys. She regularly comes home with arts & crafts projects for the fridge. Her teachers know her so well and have helped us to create a schedule and routine for her. I would recommend OC Kids to anyone! I am certain OC Kids is the best choice for our daughter while we are at work. read more

This review is long overdue. We enrolled our son here in November of 2016. My son had barely turned 2 years old. This place was recommended by a friend and when we toured their facility, I was attracted by their daily schedule and numerous activities they do with the kids. His first teachers, Ms. Laura and Ms. Stacci, were so wonderful to him. They are just the best! They really settled our worries. I stayed at home with him for several months and had a private nanny before his enrollment here, so this was a big step for us. With the help of his teachers, our son adjusted very well and he really blossomed in being more social and he started talking so much more! He is now in the 3's class with Mrs. Kelly and she is also great! She helped us through potty training and is very good at giving us pointers on things we can do at home to help further our son's growing mind. Ms. Ebony was also wonderful and is definitely missed by our little boy. I won't forget to mention Ms. Amy! She is a sweetheart and has guided us since day one! Everyone here is kind, professional, and dedicated. You can't go wrong with this place. read more

This daycare has always shown the best care for my son. Not only does he have such a fun time, but his teachers are AMAZING!! Amy(assistant director) goes above and beyond her duties. We recently moved to Cypress from Northern California and were desperate to find a preschool that would make for an easy transition for our 3 1/2 year-old daughter. We settled on OC after a 2 week search. It was not our first choice but since we were moving at an odd time the schools we wanted were not available. On her very first day We were shocked when we dropped her off and witnessed a teacher telling a crying toddler that if they didn't stop they would be placed in timeout. Now I'm all for tough love but this raised a small red flag. After 2 1/2 weeks, we noticed that our child would cry worse at every drop off and she was having terrible anxiety the night before school days. This was not the case at her previous school. At drop off time, while my daughter was sobbing, the teacher reluctantly helped ease the transition. Finally, a neighbor and close friend of my wife's family witnessed an employee, whom she described as a tall thin blonde woman (whom I believe is the director of the school) yelling at the kids because a rake was out of the sand box. She then proceeded to throw the rake back into the sandbox near where kids were playing. It's one thing to raise your voice with children but to throw something out of frustration is completely unacceptable behavior for a child care professional. The rake could have easily bounced and injured a child. Needless to say we pulled our daughter out immediately. My wife called the director and we hope by sharing our experience and shining a light on this behavior that they will improve for the benefit of the other children and parents. read more

My husband and I are both teachers and have very high standards for our kids. We checked out 5 preschool/daycare centers in the area, and OC Kids is by far the most clean, friendly, organized, and fun place for our kids. The teachers genuinely care about our daughters and they love their jobs. The teachers' passion for working with children is what makes all the difference in the world to our family. The teachers take extremely great care of our girls and have helped our daughters learn in a fun and nurturing environment. On top of the positive social emotional connections and wonderful learning environment at OC Kids, our girls are also enrolled in Amazing Athletes during the school day, for introduction to a variety of sports such as golf, baseball, hockey, basketball, football, soccer, and volleyball. On Thursdays, a company called Webby Dance comes to the school for in-school dance classes, which my girls absolutely love. There is also the option to have hot lunches provided by Cypress School District. The teachers communicate with us daily through a quick journal entry about how our child's day was, what they ate, and for how long the nap was. The Two's teachers potty trained our 2 year old daughter when she first started at OC Kids. I am so thankful for all that the staff has done for our girls. Our kids are on a positive behavior incentive system (which you will see when you walk into each of the classes). There are small prizes earned for every 10 tickets earn for positive behaviors. I would highly recommend this preschool/daycare to all of my family and friends. It truly has an amazing staff. read more
