I am so glad I found Dr Kokkas on moving to Ocala. The New Patient Special is great value and Dr K…read moreand his staff were so caring and attentive. Yes, I couldn't get my first appointment as soon as I would have liked, but if a Doctor is very busy, there must a lot of people putting trust in him. As it was, I offered to take any cancellations and they got me in within a few days. Face book and Google both show a lot of good ratings for his practice but Yelp seems to be the goto site if you are very dissatisfied. I read the reviews on all three and it weighted heavily towards giving him a try. So glad I did.

SAFETY WARNING FOR PARENTS I am writing this to warn other…read morefamilies about the dangerous lack of consent and medical negligence at this office. My daughter was scheduled on March 19th for a permanent crown placement ONLY. Instead, without my consent or even informing me, they began other dental work. My daughter was pre-medicated with 75mg of Hydroxyzine for dental anxiety--a fact this office was fully aware of. Despite this, they administered epinephrine, which caused her to have a severe medical reaction involving tremors and turning deathly pale. We sat there for 3 hours, no work was completed, and she was so ill on the way home I nearly took her to the Emergency Room. The office staff kept saying she was just cold, but that was not the case whatsoever. She was having whole body tremors. The administrative side is just as bad. I had to call my own insurance to find out the office failed to submit the correct dates for the permanent crown. When I called (April 20th at 10:40 a.m. EST) to resolve this, the office manager/front desk, McKayla, refused to look into their own error, refused to give me any contact for escalation, and hung up on me. I have already filed formal complaints with the Florida Board of Dentistry, the BBB, and my insurance's grievance department. Do not trust this office with your child's health or your money. They do not respect parental consent or basic medical safety. UPDATE (August 2026 - Billing Dispute & Refund Refusal): Following an official insurance determination confirming balance billing and ordering a refund, management (Operations Leader) refused to reconcile my account against my cleared bank statements, which prove higher total out-of-pocket payments ($1,345.49) than their internal software ledger logged ($1,306.30). Despite receiving cleared bank receipts showing the higher amount paid, management stated in writing that the refund amount was "not up for discussion," quoted a refund timeline of "up to 90 days" (despite Florida law requiring patient overpayments to be refunded within 30 days under F.S. § 456.0625), and issued a formal patient dismissal letter. The complete paper trail--including cleared bank statements, written email correspondence, and insurance determinations--has been submitted as supplemental evidence to active complaint files with the Florida Division of Consumer Services (FDACS) and the Florida Department of Health / Board of Dentistry.
