I've been there many times for dental work...What can I say? It's a trip to the dentist, where very few of us wish to go...However, the staff that works there is very nice and very helpful. I feel like there exam rooms are very small and tight, which makes me feel somewhat closed in. With the type of work I have done, I have made many trips but have had very little contact with the dentist, and more contact with the staff. I was offered an option and chose one that I could afford, and paid for it even though they kept pressing for a more expensive option. Then I went several visits back and forth 3 times, doing impressions for dentures was very uncomfortable. They kept doing it with my existing denture when I wanted a new one. I felt given the run around, and then after the 4th visit, I was told to come in. The dentist wanted to discuss treatment again . he had told me he wasn't able to do it, even though I was offered that option, but to go the more expensive route. This dental office is a RIP-OFF. They overcharge for ALL dental procedures. I have two dental insurances that covers 100% preventative care and I still had to pay out of pocket for a cleaning that would have been no charge at other dental offices. I was quoted for a dental procedure. When I called back about 4 months later to try to get the procedure done, the price went up around $500 dollars more. I knew that this dental office was not for me anymore. "CROOKS" The front office staff can be rude and nasty if you allow them. However Dr. Salifou is a top-notch dentist. This place is a SCAM BEWARE I had an appointment here for a faulty dental crown I had gotten done elsewhere. All I needed was the crown to be removed. The crown was too big for the implant I had, anyways I show up to my appointment they have me pay $100, ok that's fine, then they say it will be $600 to have the crown simply twisted off and removed.... Yeah I left, went to UF Shands Dental SAME PROCEDURE WAS CHARGED $130. This place tried to pressure me and told me I could do payment plan but I knew $600 was crazy ridiculous, I know this place specializes on implants, just feels greedy and wrong on their part. These people seem to want to keep you in some kind of financial contract over and over. They saw me for about seven months,( including X rays ). At the end . One doctor in there gave me a "clean bill of health " after my x rays and cleaning. And then they told me I needed a "Deep Cleaning,$1800.00 before the next cleaning. That's a lot of money to me. I had an old crown get ripped out, post and all, while eating lunch on a Friday during the week of New Year's. Nowhere was open... I called Ocala Dental Care and they said come in immediately we will see you right now! The front desk was super friendly and helpful over the phone and when I got there. They took X-rays, it was obvious that the tooth needed to come out and since it was a back tooth... I needed an implant and since they took my insurance, it saved me about $1500. The most amazing part was that then they scheduled me for the VERY NEXT Monday thanks to what I assume was the AMAZING, office manager holding the only open spot available for surgery for the next 3 days. When I went on Monday the dentist did a wonderful job extracting the tooth even though it was very hard to get out because it was an old root canal, decaying and fused with the jaw. He then put the implant and bone-grafting in and stitched me up. Outside of a small pinch from the shots it was a completely painless experience. It's been about 10 days and I'm pain free, the socket is closing up super fast and it's almost as if nothing has ever happened to it. If you're in a pain and need someone to help you desperately, don't sit around and suffer, absolutely go here! All of the Dr's I spoke with were kind, listened to my questions and were happy to answer them all. You just need to be willing and able to pay that day but they do have financing options if you qualify. I couldn't be more thankful it truly could not have gone smoother or better!!! read more

If I could give negative stars I would. When I first went in for an extraction they wanted to charge me 5k to replace it and pushed me to finance that cost. I obviously refused and the service on the extraction was mediocre at best, I was in extreme pain for a week, and no I did not have a dry socket. They were simply so rough getting the tooth out that I was left bruised for a week. After, I was told to come in for a follow up and cleaning. When I came in that appointment I was told I needed to pay $140 for tests and exams, which I don't need and refused ( I had just had a full exam at my extraction). I was then told that I will have to pay for a cancellation fee. When I inquired why (I showed up on time for my appointment) I was met with "it's our policy." I politely wanted to know why they couldn't get my info from my previous provider and indicated that they previously did an exam before the extraction so I didn't need another exam two weeks after I just had one. It was at this point that a customer behind me was making noises and when I asked him to stay out of it he became very aggressive, stood up and started yelling at me and at one point threatened me. The biggest shocker of this whole situation is not only did the office personal say nothing as this man is screaming at me and threatening me, they actually applauded him and blamed me. I never raised my voice, I never was rude I simply was asking questions about a policy and they responded by implying I was stupid for asking. I am very disappointed with the way they treated me. I call to cancel appointment because of having to go to surgery in a few days. I must say I don't believe they believed me. 8 weeks later I came home from the hospital to find out they charged my account for services not rendered. When I tried to explain again they could care less. They insisted that I didn't cancelled. When I wanted to speak to accountant they told me she does not work in the office and they will have her contact me. Never happen. So now I am paying 400 dollars for services. Have you ever been to a medical office that has a magnetic lock on the EXIT door? We will get to that in a bit... I cracked a tooth and had my wife find a Dentist in Ocala for me to go to and figure out how to get the problem addressed. I gave them my insurance card, and then 20 minutes after the appointment time they come out and explain my insurance is a closed network, and they can not bill them for anything. I explained I fully anticipated to pay out of pocket for the treatment, and would submit the bills directly to the insurance. I also was somewhat disappointed that they delayed my appointment while they tried to track down an insurance payment, but on we go. I PREPAY the $97 exam fee. So I go into the "pre-exam" room with a lady that seemed pleasant enough. She asked what I had going on, and I explained to her that I thought I bit into a rock hard pistachio, and I thought it cracked one of my molars. She asked if I had anything else going on. I explained I had some other concerns. She offered to upgrade me to a "full exam" for an additional $97, and I declined. She mentioned she would have to take an additional x-ray. I believed that fact to be an "as a matter of fact", not, "there would be an additional charge for that". No dollar amount was every discussed other than the "full exam". So the doctor comes in, from Ghana, seemed pleasant enough. He explained my molar was cracked and it would need to be extracted. No worries, can you do that now, I asked. He said he would have to check the schedule to see. He left. I waited, not for a long time but I became concerned that he may have been pulled into another patient's room. So I went to the front to ask the nice lady at check in if she could find out what was going on. She went into the room behind the receptionist desk and inquired. The nurse says she is checking the price and then will let me know and if I agree, then she will check scheduling...??? Excuse me? Can you perform the extraction today at some point or not? I don't care, and never even asked the price. I just wanted the pain to go away. Then she said it would just be a little longer...for a dentist office to find out the cost of a molar extraction?!?!?!? They should have those costs memorized, so I got frustrated and say, "Forget about it, I am leaving". They said you have to pay the bill, I said I already pre-paid the $97. She then tries to tell me that there is another $27 due for the second xray. I explained to the Head lady talking at this point, that was never disclosed, not agreed to by me. She came out to try and plead her case, and I explained to her to not tell mistruths. Then I said, I am out...AND YOU CAN NOT LEAVE THE OFFICE BECAUSE THEY HAVE A BIOMETRIC LOCK ON THE DOOR THAT LEADS TO THE WAITING ROOM AND EXIT. Only staff can open it. What would happen if there was an emergency and people had to evacuate? That's a whole other topic. Proceeding on, I explained to open the door and allow me to leave, or I would have to call 911 and have an officer dispatched to save me from my unlawful detainment. I put my cell on the counter, with 911 inputted on the display for them all to see I was not playing their games, and requested nicely for the last time that they unlock the door. They refused. I called 911 today, 03/08/2023 @ 1556 EST. Miraculously, after they heard me having Ocala's finest dispatched to our location, they opened the door while excessively badgering me saying things like, "we'll just send you a bill and when you don't pay it, we will send you to collections". These people are brutal. This atmosphere is like a boiler room "farm", and they are only interested in your dollars, and doing everything they can to extract every penny with cause, or without. This place is a huge ripoff...took lots of xrays, dentist came in and looked in my mouth. Told me I needed 8 crowns. I had a crown on a root canal tooth and he told me there was decay, the crown had to be replaced. I had to pay $180 up front for the xrays and exam. Told me my insurance was maxed out, which was completely incorrect. In order to get any of the work done, I had to prepay. Needless to say I left. Found a very competent dentist who reviewed my xrays, did a thorough exam and found none of the above issues with my teeth Also, they billed my dental plan after I paid them cash and the reimbursement also went to them. I do not recommend this company for implant work I had implants done by 4Gulpa in Vegas, excellent job But this company how ever made me pay before any consultation or budgetary estimate I paid $180 for X-ray I didn't need and they wanted $800 to clean my prosthetics which is highway robbery Gulpa does it for $200 but he's a 20 hour drive away I specifically ask what it would cost (ball park) to remove them, clean them and reinstall. As a new family to the area, we needed a new dentist. We have delta dental and this office explicitly stated that they take our insurance. After calling delta dental, they confirmed this is an out of network provider. Look at the other reviews, this place is all about a money grab and very deceptive. Nine years ago ODC did an excellent repair on my lower denture plate. Fast forward 2 years later I opted to get a new set of dentures. Good fit. No problems. 2021 in February I went there for a problems in my upper jaw which another doctor advised me to see a dentist. It was all about money when I came in. Very unprofessional. Dentist talked behind my back about cancer. He called in another dentist and sought his advise. The other dentist said could be a good allergy. They did another test for $90. Set another appointment for two weeks. I had zero confidence in the new owners. I called two days later and cancelled. DO NOT GO THERE. RIP OFF. No regards for privacy. read more

initially went to a Ocala Dental Care in 2020 to meet with them about a consult for some dental work. After the consultation the amount to get both top and bottoms done came out to be around $20,000 basically, $10,000 for the top and $10,000 for the bottom work to be done. Covid at this point was beyond hysteria so we were told if we felt sick at all, do not come in. There were two occasions that this happened that I had to call and reschedule my appointments not knowing that I was going to get charged $200 a pop for this each time. After the tops were complete and I was getting ready to have them start the work on my bottoms it came to my attention that I only had around a $3000 balance on my account. This, in no way was going to cover the work that was going to need to be done on my bottom teeth. I should mention that my husband is IRF (military) and in 2021 while I was trying to resolve this issue he got deployed which means we have to get ready fairly quickly to leave out. I wasn't overly concerned about the balance at that time because I knew our situation was temporary and that we would be back in Ocala at some point. Fast forward to a few weeks ago where he got called out again, unexpectedly, after what happened in Maui. I immediately called Ocala Dental and spoke to Heather and was informed that I needed to come in and sign some paperwork before they could release my funds which I did the very next day. Apparently their accountant only comes in on Wednesdays and on this particular week she did not come in on her regular workday and I was told I would have to wait till the following week. My question to them was if it were possible, could she just put it in the mail and mail it to my in-laws house in Ocala. I needed to try to get the check in the bank so that I can close out the bank account here because at this point I have no idea what our final destination is going to be and do not have a forwarding address. The one thing that I asked them repeatedly to do was to please call and keep me informed about the status of my check in which I never received not one phone call from them. It had to be me constantly calling and trying to get answers while continually being told there was really nothing they could do about it other than to wait on the accountant to come in. Well, last week we had the hurricane on Wednesday, and I had to come back to check on our property so no doubt the office was closed. Still, after no phone calls, at the advise of my attorney, I wrote a demand letter which Michelle, the office manager, refused to sign. I practically begged them at this point to just please contact the accountant and put the check in the mail so that hopefully it will get to me before I have to leave back out again. Again, I asked them to call me and please let me know if they've spoken to the accountant. Big surprise!!! I got no phone calls and have had to call again and I'm still being told that they have to speak to their accountant. Please know that we do not expect any kind of special treatment because my husband is a veteran and unfortunately this kind of stuff happens when you live a military life but most of the time people are willing to help us out and it is greatly appreciated when they do. I always know there are issues I can't get resolved when these things happen, but this situation should be fairly simple. Ive worked in administrative positions before and honestly this one is not a hard one to figure out. The lack of disrespect for our military is astounding to me at this point and the lack of professionalism in this office is over the top. It is absolutely ridiculous the lengths I've had to go to just to get them to send me a check which is still not being sent yet. Both Heather and Michelle's flippant attitudes toward me in this situation makes my stomach turn. Also, the only family we have in Ocala are my in-laws who are well into their 80s and one has dementia so this is not a responsibility I can just throw on them to take care of. Still no phone call! I needed to have a tooth pulled or a root canal. I set up an appointment for a root canal, but then changed my mind. I called the morning of the appt and told them I had change my mind. She told me to go ahead and come in and take the tranquilizer pill one hour before I got there and talk to the doctor and let him know that I opted for having the tooth pulled rather than a root canal. I got there and told them what I wanted to do. They said it was a different doctor and I would have to come back. So I made another appointment. I thought the appointment was for Tuesday. Keep in mind I had taken a tranquilizer. The appointment was for Monday. They called me on Monday and, let me know that I was late for the appointment, but that I could come in on Tuesday. I went Tuesday had the extraction. I had paid $2000 for the root canal that I did not have. so I asked for a refund because they told me the extraction would be about $355. They told me they'd have to send it to their accountant and would get back to me. I waited a week. I heard nothing I called them. They were waiting on their accountant. I called another time she said she would check with the manager and call me back. Finally several days later they called and said they had processed the refund. They kept $300 extra for the day that I came in and wanted an extraction rather than a root canal and the missed appointment on Monday. I called to talk to him about it. Several times. I told them I planned on being a long-term patient, having a implant, but would appreciate consideration for returning the $300. They said no. So I'm finding a new dentist. I did some checking around and this place seemed friendly and economic. I asked and was given a discount for my military service. I informed them of my extreme sensitivity to dental work. I was only given a sedative which didn't help at all. I am also a scared cat. I cried several times "Why are you crying now". Thankfully finally done, They literally had to grind some my teeth down to fit right. Had to sign off without looking at them. So if you decided to go there buyer beware. Wow! I regret not checking the posted reviews for Ocala Dental. Had I checked (as I always try to do) I won't be $534 short at this moment for the unsatisfactory work done by them. I went to the dental office because when I called concerning a small hairline crack in my upper denture, the CSR informed me that, since they had their own lab, the denture could be fixed right away. As soon as I walked inside their office, I was charged $225 and after them taking Xray, etc of my teeth (I really didn't understand why they needed to do this for a simple repair) they charged me an extra $309. A few weeks later I noticed that the repair was not done right. I called to make an appointment to have it fixed and I was told there was an extra charge. I asked to speak to the manager and was told that I could make the appt and that the manager would be calling me to discuss the extra charge. Bottom line: no call received so I went to the office for my appt and I was asked for my payment. I insisted on speaking to the manager [she came to speak to me and tried to convince of having to make the extra payment). I decided I would just go to Walgreens to get a repair kit. I agree with most of the reviews I read. OD is QUICK TO TAKE YOUR MONEY, but NOT SO GOOD IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. As another reviewer said, "OD is money motivated". read more

I was there to get a root canal done. I have crippling anxiety being at a dental office and asked the lady dentist to give me a minute cause I needed to collect myself and calm down. I was doing the process that helps me which is rubbing my forehead because I am focusing on that action and it helps me to calm down. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST!!! I came here with a Groupon. I had a 3pm appointment wasn't seen till 4:30pm. Then I had x-rays which was covered by the Groupon and had a consultation with the dentist, at which point I was advised that the work they wanted to do would cost $5000!!! I spoke with the receptionist and advised her that I would be consulting with my dental insurance since they were out of network. They advised of there financing and also said if there is an adjustment on the work that they would adjust the amount accordingly. This office moves REALLY QUICK TO TAKE YOUR MONEY. I left Wednesday evening and called them Friday morning to cancel my appointment which was over a week a way and the work they wanted to do. Since then I've have been going back and forth with this office. They were paid immediately from the time they placed the financing and now it's been a nightmare dealing with them. On top of that the are still going to charge me $340 for some 3D x-ray they took and a 25% restocking fee for a implant that I canceled less then 48hrs and they never even took a mold of my mouth!!!! I had a implant lose and then they were trying to take out another tooth that didn't even bother me. I had a abyss behind a tooth which had a root canal done, he could have treated the abyss and performed another root canal which would have been way less and would save my tooth. What ever teeth I have now I'm trying to keep. And the billing manager here is garbage she's the worst. Looks like the owners have a way of deleting reviews that they do not like. My advice from my experience there is to stay away . The procedures are delayed and overcharged. You have to sign a wavier before you get out of the dental chair that you accept the procedure so that you have no recourse if something is not right. I think I cracked my tooth so I called around maybe 20 offices ( I have delta dental but my plan was not accepted here - shocker ) and I think farm animals are treated more humane and more fairly! This place is nothing but a revolving door of poor innocent souls that go in for dental work and leave with THOUSANDS of dollars in debt. I'm pissed over paying $97 for an X-ray/ exam then being told I needed a CT scan which is theoretically no different of a setup than a panoramic X-ray, and for a room that uses " radiation " they don't even have any radiation warning on their open door as it occurs. Then there is a lock on the door where once you are in the treatment area , and you are not leaving unless an employee lets you out talk about a safety issue ! Looking back on the day it is actually adding up to be a theme for a horror movie. Getting back to the " CT" that they needed to see if my tooth was infected- and how far down the crack went which wouldn't actually change the course of them telling me I needed a crown for get this " $2,000. - so essentially like CT was like throwing $390 out the window. You read that correctly !!!!!!!!!!! And let's top it off - when I go to leave they throw an extra $27 in there for an extra xray never-ever telling me once that I needed to pay for an extra xray. This practice is disgusting in the way they work. Not only would I NEVER let them touch my teeth , but I will make darn sure that their shady behinds don't take advantage of any more innocent people. DO NOT GO HERE! I had a pain under a crown. It was determined that I woul need to have the tooth removed and replaced with either abrige or partial. I was told that I had an infection and would not give me anttibiotics until the tooth was pulled so they left me in pain. The next day I called and decide to go with an impant and put $1500.00 down and would finance the remmainder od the $4800.00 charge. The following day I decided since it was in the back and unless i did a huge smile you would not notice. I am 64. I called to do the change and asked how much it would cost to have the tooth extracted and needed the $1500.00 returned. Was told that the person that does the billing was with a patient and someone would call me back. Hiedi who was my dental assistanant and advisor on my iniotial visit called and drilled me to change me mind. I was told that there wopuld be a 25% return fee if the implant was alreadu ordered which was only the post. Since thay advertise 1 day implants I would think they would have several. The next call was with a quote for $550.00 which included the return fee. I stated that since I have legally 3 days to resind and did not sign any paperwork I was not going to pay that. The final call was that they will refund my $1500.00. The Dentist would handle the return fee but i will no longer be able to have any services done there !!!!!!
