I had been to this eye doctor before they changed locations and was assisted by Brooke at the time. After they adjusted my contact and glasses order, I was owed a credit of over $500 that I never received. Thankfully, my bank flagged the issue and helped protect me. When I contacted Ocean Eye about it, they directed me to resolve it through my bank rather than addressing it themselves. This experience left me very uneasy, and I won't be returning. read more

I had my first visit to Ocean Eye at Carnes Crossroads last Friday (1/10/25) and the experience at the time was ok. I got there on time for my appointment but proceeded to wait at least 10 minutes if not more before I was taken back by a technician for the eye exam portion ($39 out of pocket for the digital exam). The digital exam was quick and easy enough that it took less than 10 minutes. After some brief Q&A with the technician, she then told me that the doctor would be right in. I waited what felt like almost a half an hour (although it was probably about 15-20 minutes) for the doctor to come in and finish. It went ok and Dr. Palmer answered my questions, provided me with my prescription (as I usually get my glasses online) and I left satisfied. It wasn't until I got home that I looked at my prescription and realized that there was no PD (pupillary distance) # listed. Thinking it was just an oversight, I called back today to get it and they said it would be an additional $25 because it's only given when buying glasses from them. Excuse me? Now it may be because I don't go to the eye doctor often, (and charging people extra for the faster more updated eye exam I understand) but you're going to charge an additional $25 just because they choose not to pay for your glasses (frames and lenses) too? If I had known that I would have to pay over $60 just for an exam and a PD number on my prescription I never would've gone there. Now being that I don't go to the eye doctor all the time, that may be a new thing that I just didn't know about but I was very clear from the beginning of my appointment what my intentions were and the technician nor the doctor did not tell me that while I could get a prescription from them it wouldn't include a necessary detail without a additional $25. I might have even paid it if it was $5 or less but I just expected it to be included with the $39 digital eye exam I was already paying extra for. I'm sorry Ocean Eye but this was the first and the last time I will be going to see you. I'll take my business elsewhere if you expect me to pay over $60 for an eye exam and prescription that includes the pupillary distance number needed for accurate eyeglasses. read more

Carnes Crossroad office location. Similar experience as others have stated. I don't understand why the wait as there was no one else in the office. Didn't see the extra $39 digital exam fee which was on the right side of one of the sheets of paper that I had to sign so that was my fault for not thoroughly reading everything. Long wait between parts of visit. Eye exam person, don't think she was a doctor from a comment she had, really just did the "which one is better" process. Didn't really exam my eyes. Never said anything about the digital exam. Didn't really tell me anything. Worst eye exam I have ever had. read more

I love Ocean Eye Trolley Rd. I have been going there at least 10 years. The staff and doctors are always very nice. They are very helpful when looking and trying to pick out eyeware as well. I love the experience there and will not go anywhere else. Would highly recommend. read more

Excited my eye practice is now at Carnes Crossing! I live in Cane Bay, so this is super convenient for me! I appreciate the evening hours available so that I don't have to take off of work for my yearly appointment with the eye MD. The new location is super clean, modern, and has a great look! The staff was top notch and the doctor was even better. I did see a new doctor this time, but she has been my favorite so far since I have been using Ocean Eye! The good, Every employee, Drs, technicians, support staff, that I have met at every Ocean Eye office is knowledgeable, pleasant and eager to help. The frustrating: My challenge has been that I have been bounced around to different offices and different doctors over the past 3 years. I am hoping this office will be where I'll go from now on, and I will have same Dr every time :) Their selection of glasses is nice. Every location has some same and different. I never leave negative reviews online but I wish I had awareness about this organization. Be very careful about doing business with this Ocean Eye. I saw an optometrist during a June appt and she shared that I should opt for the eye imaging that costs $35 as it was "more accurate" than dilation (I will come back to this inaccuracy). When viewing the pictures with me, she shared I had two retinal hemorrhages that she directed me to speak with my internist about. At 44, I was a bit concerned about this so saw my internist the next day who questioned why Ocean Eye didn't send me straight to Storm Eye. I was able to get an appointment the same week with Storm Eye with a retinal specialist who is a surgeon and an MD/PhD. He did a full work up on me with the dilation and the eye imaging and said that dilation is always more accurate. $700 later (AFTER insurance), I learned that I don't have any issue with my eye! I have no hemorrhages at all; and I'm out over $800 between my internist appointment and the storm eye appointment from the follow up recommended by Ocean Eye. I reached out to Ocean Eye 5 times requesting a call back from their office manager before I finally got in touch with her July 8. She committed to follow up with me 2 business days later. It is now almost two weeks since I spoke with her, and there has been zero follow up. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON OCEAN EYE. Their clinicians lack expertise and knowledge on critical eye problems, and their leadership and staff have complete lack of follow up and follow through. The poor customer service has been absolutely staggering. read more

Bought glasses at "SAMS" and returned them. They even remade the glasses again and still not correct; finally got my money back. Went enee ,meanny ,miney ,moe and wound up at Ocean Eye; cause the new location is close to home. Glad i did. The glasses Varilux-x progressive were expensive, but the old saying is you get what you pay for. Double the price of Sams. But Sams doesn't offer the Verilux brand; and their cheap lens don't compare to "Essilor Varilux" . I have used verilux for 20 years and in my cheap mode i made a mistake. The exam at Ocean Eyes revealed a tear in my retina and recommended a second exam in 6 months. They too pictures of my inner eye also. Well worth the $110 they charge. OH ..before i forget , there is "GINA" who was a tremendous help to me. It's because of caring people like her that gives me the incentive to return.
