It was very dark inside, I was bumping into things. We spent an hour here. Walked around in the dark to the Kiwi inclosure and waited patiently. Later in the morning the lights were turned off and both nocturnal kiwis began to move around. The foot tall blue penguins were very active as they glided through the water. They have 16 rescue penguins, we saw the 9:30 feeding, A lot of the fish reptiles are not native to New Zealand & not particularly interesting for us. The aquarium filled very quickly with small children.

I'm unsure if it was because of the day we went when several cruise ships were in port or if this was normal. The aquarium is very small and you can see everything within hours (or if you're like me and hate crowds, within 20 minutes). I loved the kiwi area but I didn't stay long because of the amount of people. It was amazing to see kiwi for the first time so that was a huge highlight. The aquarium was clean and the bathrooms were as well. The gift shop was extremely small. I decided to leave early and just hang out by the beautiful ocean that the aquarium is next to. All in all, I'm glad I visited but I don't see myself coming back.

The beach itself seems to go for miles and miles along the magnificent Hawke's Bay. Our driver did mention that this part of the beach was not suitable for swimming because of all the rocks everywhere. With that being said, "Beach Domain " consists of more than just the beach area. Its grassy areas are ideal spots for picnics and relaxation ! There is also a bike trail that extends up the coast towards the aquarium and beyond! The trail can also be walked with plenty of benches along the way. The waterfront offers fine dining /spa treatment/playgrounds/beautiful gardens/camping parking/shopping/music events at the "Napier Soundshell" and so much more ! We were on a tour of wineries with a guide and also had a chance for a quick peak from the top…read more To be honest I was glad someone else was driving as the road, while paved, it quite curvy and steep and in some spots not too wide causing us to pull over to the side to make room for cars on their way down. We got up there on a hot and sunny Thursday around 11 am and there were only a few people at the top. Thirty minutes is plenty long to take in the view and snap a few pictures. When conditions are right, hang gliders take off from the summit too and it is also the starting point for a mountain bike trail. Definitely worth a short visit if you are in the area.

In fact, every town other than Auckland seems to have pride in their surroundings... Auckland Council could take a harsh lesson from every town south of the Bombays and north of the Habour Bridge. ESCAPEROOMers was really excited to visit Napier, New Zealand. This escape room is located in an…read moreactual prison that has been transformed into a tourist attraction. Getting to this location was a bit of a hike and there's a pretty steep uphill climb. We suggest taking an Uber or taxi to get there. All the escape rooms are authentic and have remained true to scale. For the "Therapy Unit" room, we started off blindfolded and handcuffed in separate cells. Obviously, we felt immersed into our game the minute that we started. Since they kept their rooms true to the storyline, there wasn't that much technology incorporated.
