So we look over and we see no customers waiting to cash out or anything. Talk about micro management.. why can't see relax her feet when no one is around?? Is it any skin off this man's back? I worked in a fast paced factory setting and an American Eagle store before and it wasn't that serious. I don't know who or what this man's role is but if he really didn't want an employee to be comfortable at work then he should've assigned her something else to do while she waited for customers. I've seen this cashier work there before and she is friendly and works so I really don't know what this man's problem was. Oh and also, I was shopping in the bathroom section when I saw father and son(customers) testing out a soccer ball and this man really said "we have to sell that so dont do that." I see nothing wrong with testing out a product you're potentially going to buy. If I take it home and it's flat I would return it so why not give it a little test. Needless to say the duo walked away and I don't blame them, I personally would've walked out that store really upset. So I give 5 stars to the cashier because she held her composure for the most part, she was upset rightfully so. And I DEDUCT 3 stars for that man's micro management behavior at a RETAIL store because I don't believe all Ollie's have someone like that working there and I really do enjoy Ollie's most the time. I bought a floor turbo fan for $30.00. They sell some really nice rugs plus bath, bed & kitchen items, super cheap car items like windshield wipers and seat covers, yard items and more! The staff is friendly and you can see they work hard so treat them nice---they're helpful and accommodating (hope it stays that way). Every Thursday is when the new stock comes in. They give 15% off coupons on their rewards program. I take a trip there weekly to discover great bargains--especially on books, toys and food! The person behind the counter is very cheerful and makes small talk with the customers. A lot of these dollar stores have an "All Sales Final." Rule. Dollar Depot pretty much carries a decent amount of typical dollar store type items, and some things you wouldn't find at a Dollar Tree. The pricing is decent for most of the merchandise. the size of the store was a lot bigger than I thought it was gonna be. I loved how I found Foca liquid laundry detergent! I have been searching for that for awhile. I was stoked when I discovered they carried it! Especially at $1.99. Way cheaper than the $2.50 Family Dollar was selling it for. It's way bigger on the inside than it looks. Plentiful amounts of merchandise, and the owners (I think) are very friendly and polite. The guy who cashed me out almost gave me the incorrect amount of change back and when I politely pointed it out, he seemed sort of embarrassed, but remained calm and thanked me. I bought a bandana, a Du-Rag, and a black hand towel for my bathroom which I had been looking for, for a little bit now. The prices are pretty decent, seeing as how I'd be more inclined to visit a place like this versus a Dollar Tree. There's just something special about these types of places that you don't get at the corporate stores. The Gold Stars Gift Store is a highly underrated gem in Pawtucket. The main attractions (esp. if you're a girl) are really when you walk in-- your eyes draw you straight to the load of hairclips and headbands. If you're like me and "uber kawaii hipster fob" styles entice you then I have to say this place is for you. Okay, back to talking about the hairclips, the ones they carry here are the exact same styles that I buy from a little shop on Thayer called Details for $10 each. (I know what you're thinking, who the hell buys hairclips for $10 a pop? Well I'm one of those crazies. Anything that shines and sparkles and makes me tune into my inner child I just can't resist. It's a sickness really, but I think we all have our weaknesses). ;) Anyways, back to the review. Since Halloween is later this month, my search for wigs was what really brought me to this place. I was looking for a nice long blonde wig for a potential Alice costume and sadly the only selection they carry are brunette wigs. Lovely nonetheless, but nothing really costume-y. A plus for the wigs ranging from $20-30. I did ask the merchant about their limited selection on wigs and his response was understandable. (because lighter colored wigs don't sell well). Oh and they have a nice selection of jewelry, nail polishes, yet smaller selection of makeup. As far as clothing goes I did see a few pajama styles I thought were cute, though I gave up when I tried looking for smalls. Besides hair accessories I did buy a makeup palette and a really cute knitted beanie. Again, similar to a style of hat I bought at another store on Thayer, kinda like UO (forget the name of it) that sells over-priced new vintage-looking clothing. That hat I bought for $30 (yes $30 for a disposable knit hat?! Yesh tell me about it) I ended up buying this similar looking one for $4. Cons about this place would probably be due to the fact that their stock is so random. Anything you find here they probably would have limited duplicates for. I guess for some that might be a pro, esp. if you like unique finds. I guess overall as far as shopping experience goes, organization could be better. It's not bad, but I think it has a lot more potential. And as far as stock goes would love to see them expand their selection of shoes, purses (preferably lower the prices), makeup, and wigs! All in all I'm satisfied with my purchases, for the prices at this shop you can't complain. For as long as I like uber fobby/kawaii goodies I'm going to keep checking back at this place for sure. :)
