Some good prices, but other things are marked up heavily. The food is expensive and you can get both reading glasses and sunglasses at Dollar Tree for $1.00. Here they are $2.99 and $7.00 respectively. I did find a cooler on sale, but a lot of the products are junky plastic. Staff seems friendly but doesn't know what they carry. Cashier didn't ask if I wanted a member card said I had to have one, didn't care when I said no and I don't shop there normally. Was visibly upset when I said to throw the card out that I didn't need it. read more

Older woman doing returns at the Service Desk was mad rude! When she asked me for the reason for the return, I told her that I had impulse bought them. The look on her face said everything that she wasn't saying verbally. I had picked up a few items that I needed and she said "you're getting tho things now?", again, I saw her face and the attitude in her tone. Like, if you don't like dealing with the public, that's no reason for you to be ride an d bothered when a customer comes to return something! I help to get you a paycheck AND I deserve to be treated with some form of respect. I was going to call and speak with the manager but this is wayyyy better and it will reach farther audience an getting an empty apology from a store manager who really doesn't care. With that being said, I will not be going to the Leominster or Southbridge Job Lot. read more

Like random chinese made junk you've never heard of? Disorganized messy aisles? The smell of old carpet from a bad Kitchen Nightmares episode? Overpriced junk that looks like it's from a dollar store circa 1980? Oh do I have a treat for you! This place is like the worst of Caldors,Kmart and dollar stores with higher prices,messier aisles and junk for selection. I have always shopped in the Tewksbury store. Found lots of items I could use for ten years I shopped there, one of my favorite stores. After moving to Ayer and have visited the Leominster store twice, I will drive back to Tewksbury if I need anything. This is one of the messiest places of business I have ever been in. It is shameful that they run this the way they do. Obviously their only concern is making $, not customer service or appreciation! If you can't get enough help then pay them more! Hire enough people to clean and organize things. There is also a Job Lot in Oxford Maine that is very similar. There is never any managers that you can find that aren't so rude you think why bother, I just won't give them my business! Customer service is lacking . I had 2 50 # bags of calcium chloride in my cart. When I was trying to load them from the box they were in , two employees looked at me struggling to pick them up and neither offered assistance. And at the register when the cashier asked a male employee to lift one of the bags so she could scan it, he seemed very put off . Usually have good or ok experiences but this was the worst. read more

I really like Ocean State Job Lot. I shop at several different ones, and will travel out of my way to walk their aisles for interesting items and good prices. The one exception is the mismanaged, under staffed, disorganized pig sty that can be found at the Leominster, MA Store. At noon on a Tuesday afternoon, there is no reason that one should have to wait (as the 6th customer in line) for the single register to check us out. Two of the advertised items that I made a special trip to purchase were not to be found, unless they were in one of the several isles that were either roped off, or simply too cluttered up with merchandise, making it impossible to maneuver. As I said earlier, I've been to quite a few OSJL's, and enjoyed the experience, but Leominster has its own problems without importing more sludge from Little Rhody. read more

For the kind of store it is (always random inventory) this place is pretty well organized and stocked. Lots of great deals on name brand stuff but don't be scared to try no name things either! Lots of stuff made in the USA too, check the labels you'll be surprised. Imported food like Italian cookies are awesome too. Only complaint would maybe be the lack of open registers on a busy weekend! read more

Grabbing some gifts for Toys for Tots, I thought it'd be smart to check out Ocean State Job Lot because they supposedly have decent prices. I grabbed 3 items and headed towards the check-out counter...And this is why I will never go to an Ocean State Job Lot again. With about 5 registers open, I headed to the shortest line. After waiting a few minutes, I noticed the woman in front of me had a dozen or so coupons. I wasn't in a rush, and told the woman I didn't care. I continued to wait, and realized the cashier had no idea how to process the coupons. She kept asking for help, and this person or that person would come and assist. Finally, I realized the middle-aged cashier had no idea what she was doing, so I moved to another register...only to have the young cashier tell me she was closed and go to the other register. What was once 4 check-out lanes was one, with a couple buying what looked like every item in the store. I had 3 small toys to buy for charity, and in looking for assistance to leave the store, I was only met with multiple conversations about how certain employees had to leave and even the manager seemed more interested in leaving than assisting. I finally, put down my items and left. I went to Target and got them quickly without issue and for better prices. When I was younger, I worked retail, and I know how it works. But it is not asking for much to just do your job. In my experience at Ocean State Job Lot, it seemed like no employee cared, and even the supervisors were preoccupied with leaving. I will never again shop at a Ocean State Job Lot, and I advise everyone else to do the same. read more
