This place was amazing!!! They are the truest of professionals and are wonderful at what they do. So my 12 year daughter has beautiful red hair. She showered, brushed it and put it in a bun. She then slept on that bun. Next day she takes another shower and comes out with huge knots in her hair. The biggest one was the size of two golf balls. So my wife tries to get it out, we're putting coconut oil and conditioner in it, special detangler. Nothing. Barely making a dent. I call a few places. Not interested or closing or already closed. I called here and they asked if I could come in an hour. So we show up, and Elizabeth(sorry if I spelled your name wrong) gets to work. She didn't promise us success but she did tell us she was going to give it her best shot. So, she got to work. She puts a good half hour into it, has another person help her out. Got some smaller ones out but the big one remained untouched. We warned my daughter that you going to have to get it cut, and we were right. Elizabeth called us over and said well we're gonna to just chop it off. We said ok. She worked for maybe another 30-45 minutes and my daughter had this cute layered cut that she of course loves! So this place rescued us!! They rock. My wife even said they won her business from now on. So go there and let them take good care of you because they will!! read more

I scheduled an appointment for getting a hair style to look nice for my brothers wedding. Over the phone they told me it'd take 40 minutes and I got there and she said an hour. But I also figured out they scheduled me with the most inexperienced employee who literally just graduated high school My hair is medium length. All I wanted was my hair down and curly. She took a really long time to curl it and the hot ironed curls didn't look that great. But at that time they had already used up all my time to get ready for the wedding so I just had to accept it. The worst part when I went to pay the lady told me $55!!! I was shocked! For a hot iron job I could have done better myself. All I wanted my my hair to look pretty for the wedding without me having to stress. All I got though was stress and more $$ taken from me. read more

Very unhappy with the outcome of my hair!! Went in and talked with the stylist before setting an appointment. Explained I didn't want to have orange hair! Needless to say $320. later orange fried hair. The solution that was offered was to return and have same stylist try to lighten my hair even more! Declined to allow this to happen. read more

Amazing service that goes above and beyond...even for very picky clients. My daughter wanted a formal hairstyle for homecoming but in order to get the end result it took a few appointments. Our first appointment was a sparkle highlight coloring. Her hair was growing out of a former coloring so we needed to get it retouched up and Caitlyn did an amazing job. For the hairstyle she wanted for the dance. we had to go buy extensions at a beauty supply shop. I had never had any experience with hair extensions but Caitlyn gave the best guidance in what to look for. In order to blend in with her hair coloring we needed to have the extensions colored, which was the next apppointment, and Elizabeth did such a good job you would never know it wasn't her hair. This included having the two different hair colors to blend. I was amazed how well it turned out. For the final appointment on the day of the dance she had the extensions put in by Elizabeth with the help of Caitlyn and then the formal hairstyle creation by Elizabeth. Above and beyond even further, Elizabeth did her makeup because we didn't have the experience. My daughter was very happy with how everything turned out and left feeling beautiful for her special evening out. I very much appreciate all these ladies put up with to get to that point. We would never have had this same excellent customer service at any other salon, never have anywhere else, and that is why since we first discovered Ocean View Hair Color Studio we have never been anywhere else. I also want to mention Andrea and the wonderful customer service she provides every time we are there. She is a joy to talk to and always makes us feel welcome and like family whenever we are there. I recently had my hair done for the 2nd time by Elizabeth. She always gets me in on time and does a great job. She is friendly and knowledgeable. Last week I wasn't sure what color to dye my hair. She took the time to go over the options and suggested a shade that would compliment me. I absolutely love the cut and color. I can't even begin to describe how impressed I am with this salon! I tried to find somewhere that could do the bright neon colors that won't fade in a few weeks. And these guys knew exactly how to get me what i wanted. They couldn't fit me into one session so broke it up into 2 so that I could have the hair I was wanting without having to wait days for an appointment. Got my first 'Deva Cut' curly girl hair cut from Ocean View Hair Color Salon and I hate it. If frizzy poodle cut was the look I was going for, she nailed it. Found out after she cut, she said 'Honestly, I didn't go to New York for training, the owner of the salon showed me how to do it.' I'm so disappointed, and I will never go back. I went in with hair down to my bra strap and now it is shoulder length. So Curly Girls of Hampton Roads, OV HairColor says they have DevaCut specialists, but it is a lie. A lie in the tune of a horrible haircut and $50. She also treated my hair improperly, she used a fine tooth comb on it when it was wet and pretty much just snipped curl after curl dry with out really knowing what she was doing. The biggest problem was the lying about certification. If you are not trained in something, please, please don't say you are. I called the next day and was told "Well it is just hair and I can't make it longer", so on top of everything else terrible customer service too. read more

Was in Ocean View Hair Color Salon on January 15, 2020, to have my hair done by Elizabeth. I had asked for a permanent all over color to cover my grey hair. Elizabeth insisted that I need all over foils to cover the grey, even though, I had told her that foils NEVER take in my hair, but she said she that is what I needed. I just wanted my hair to look good. And, after spending almost $300.00, for services, tip, and products, I DO NOT FEEL THAT I GOT WHAT I WAS PROMISED BY ELIZABETH. Less than 3 weeks later, my hair is just a "mess", all frizzy, with a "yellowish" tinge. Ocean View Hair Color Salon, did send me a survey a few days later, and asked for my review, I replied, and asked someone to contact me back regarding the services I had received, but of course NO ONE ever contacted me back. Also, I need to mention that I had gotten my eyebrows waxed, and the wax, Elizabeth used was too hot, and left a small scab, over my left eye, and a much bigger scab over the right eye (to the point, that I do wear eyeglasses, and even my friends and co-workers, were able to notice the scab), how sad. I WOULD NOT EVER RECOMMEND THIS SALON TO ANYONE. read more

I went in for a consultation with Liz to go platinum blonde and she quoted me between $200 and $225. I scheduled my appointment for the following week. I went in and was there for a few hours. My hair was not what I expected at all. It was very streaky and brassy. I went to the desk to pay and book my next appointment to lighten it up and fix the streaks and was told my total was $500. I was very confused as to how the price had more than doubled. $500 had never been mentioned to me at the consultation and if it had I definitely would not have had services done here. Liz said it was $500 because she had to use extra product in my hair. She had mentioned she would have to use extra product at my consultation and that was why the price would be from $200 and $225. Not $500. They should be more upfront about their pricing and be honest to possible clients about being capable to fulfill their requests. I would not recommend this place to anyone wanting to go blonde. Make sure you ask what your bill will be the day of your appointment before getting anything done! read more

I have been going here for years . I did not know that the salon had changed owners when I booked appointment for the same haircut and color . They had my color formula and I even had photos of my last hair cut and I was in their online portfolio !! IThe gal that cut my hair had tried to cut my hair at a previous date and Andrea, the last owner had to take over . I came back before I went to Italy and had color and highlights with a different stylist and Amber was fabulous . I have fine, short hair and after a short conversation Amber colored and cut my hair . She used foils . I loved it. When I returned it ended in a nightmare. Andrea was gone and there was a very different vibe. The women that worked there were not just unfriendly but outright mean. Lacey tried to cut my hair previously and Andrea had to take over to finish. The razor she was using was dull and Andrea changed to a new blade. AndreA was patient with her but it was obvious that Lacey did not have a clue how to cut my hair. I had a bad feeling from the beginning when I walked in and realized who she was . I am not a rude person so I thought maybe I will give her another chance, she even had my formula that Amber wrote down. She did not use the foils. She painted it on and the color was nothing like the color Amber had done . I even showed the new owners with past photos of color and cut from Amber . I kept telling the Lacey that it needed to be cut with a razor and she ignored me I have never had a problem with any hairdresser. I am very friendly lively, nice person. When I looked at my hair I was so upset but I went up to the desk and said please I need to come back to have this done the right way and I showed the picture and one of the owners came up and yelled in my face " it is the same color and cut ! $138!!. "I was in shock. I have never been treated like that. I paid and asked when I could come back to fix the cut and color . The other owner that took my credit card and cash said in a very rude nasty tone "we don't want you to come back". I was in shock, and the aggressive mean owners didn't care . Please, a word to the wise! unless you know these two owners, don't go there . I was absolutely floored. I never yelled, I didn't say anything nasty. I was a very good customer. I always had been. I want people to know how I was treated. They had no problem yelling $138 into my face but it was so obvious to everyone that I showed the photos, that my cut and color was nothing like the cut and color I received from lively friendly Amber. (She was no longer worked there) and I wish I had walked out when I realized it was same inept stylist from Past) It was so upsetting and in all sincerity, I was crying and angry that these two rude women were so outrageous . Maybe the women that frequent that salon are treated differently because they grew up in this area, but the way that they treated me was the most unprofessional rude experience I have ever had. These two elderly owners need to retire. read more
