I went on the extended tour on Apr 28th. And it was such an amazing experience. There are cheaper tours in Moss Landing & Monterey but I definitely see the reason for the price difference. Well worth every penny. Only thing I'd say is to manage expectations: The website says "whales guaranteed" but type of whale and whale behavior is not guaranteed. The extended killer whale FOCUSED expedition, does not guarantee orcas. They are the smartest creatures in the sea, ridiculously fast, & can be elusive. But Mark & Mary do a great job trying to track them & keep up with them when they are spotted. Ideally the whales will breach, but again there's no way to force it. So with expectations managed, it is a wonderful experience. The small boat and 6 pax max makes it truly personable. You're able to really get close to the whales. Mark & Mary are so friendly, knowledgeable, and flexible. Excellent customer service. I'm glad I traveled across the country and booked with them. It was everything I hoped it would be

Highly recommend this whale watching expedition! It was a wonderful, personal experience. The smaller boat experience allowed to us to get up close to about 1,000 dolphin and we easily saw 20 humpback whale on our excursion. Great experience!

Don't trust their website when you are booking. They said they're going to give you a 6-7 hour tour for an extended whale tour. In reality, you will experience the 4-hour 50-minute tour and still have to pay the full cost of it. 300(tour)+50(fuel)+tax=371dollars. When finish the tour, you're going to hear from the captain that you have to understand the short trip because anything can be happened in nature. That's ridiculous

Captain Mike and Mary were incredible hosts- we booked an extended excursion and had the time of our lives. The boat is the perfect size- maxing out at 6 passengers was ideal for maneuvering toward the whales and dolphins. We got to spend over an hour with a mom and calf, quietly earning their trust and getting tons of close up encounters. You won't want to go on a big boat again after this experience!

Awesome trip! Saw an Orca family feeding on a recent gray whale kill and some humpback whales...great perspective to be low to the water on a small boat, really gives a sense of the size of the whales! Capts Mike and Mary were friendly and informative and great hosts!

Me and my friends with our awesome hosts Mike & Mary!

Because of their location in Moss Landing, we saw several whales within minutes of leaving the harbor. In addition, we saw otters, sea lions, and dolphins. Both the captain and guide were professional and checked on us during the excursion. Also very knowledgeable and shared lots of great info. The boat is not as big as some of the tours we saw, which was nice because we all got a great view without being on top of each other. Highly recommend for all those reasons. The big plus is location. Don't have to deal with traffic getting in/out of Monterrey.

Capt Kate doesn't book the boat full this way everyone has a great view 3. The boat itself is more suitable for an optimal viewing experience 4. Capt Kate will seek out various viewing opportunities. 5. Capt Kate keeps a respectful distance to the whale and never chases them 6. It's out of Moss Landing which is right where the activity is. Most other whale watching companies go out of the Fisherman's Wharf which means you have to spend 30-40 minutes traveling just to spend 35 minutes with the whales and then spend another 40 minutes it's traveling back. Bottom line you get more bang for your buck with Blue Ocean and it is truly a whale watching EXPERIENCE rather than a boat ride.

We seen 4 different species dolphins, 2 baby humpbacks near the harbor and a trio of full grown humpbacks further out. Chase was great and even let our little one go in steer the boat on the way back. We bought one of his framed photos before leaving and would for sure do this again. The smaller boat allowed them to get the dolphins to "surf" along the bow and that was a super fun experience.

Brian was super helpful and kind with our booking and called us back promptly. The captain Joey knew right where the action was, allowing us to spend a whole hour watching two families of Bigg's Orca whales celebrate a successful hunt with breaches, tail slaps, and other incredible acrobatics. We also watched humpback whales put on a show and lunge feed off to the side of the boat! Naturalist Luke shared fascinating stories about these amazing creatures. I have regularly taken my science students out on this boat because they always provide personalized, phenomenal service, and make everyone feel at home and safe. You won't regret booking a trip with this outfit!

The boat is nice enough although it's the smallest in the area. Their boat goes to the same place Sea Goddess goes so the experience is basically the same once out on the bay. As a whole they are A-OK (definition of a 3 star yelp review). The crew and staff are fantastic, and alone would get 5 stars. My only personal issue with their setup is that the boat you go out to admire marine life in is the same boat used to go out and slaughter marine life. Kahuna fishing does all day excursions where they take fishermen out to sea in this ride. I love animals so I don't kill them. I don't fund the killing of animals by eating them either. There's an irony that we can marvel at one segment of the marine life and thirst to destroy the other.

We had the privilege of heading out with Captain Kate, and what unfolded was truly beyond words. We witnessed countless humpback whale calves breaching all around us-so many that we didn't know which direction to look-left, right, behind the boat...it felt like nature's ballet on full display! The raft itself is impeccable-comfortable, smooth, and incredibly close to the water, which makes the encounters feel all the more intimate and powerful. It's small-group, thoughtfully guided, and environmentally conscious. Captain Kate's knowledge, passion, and deep respect for the ocean and its creatures created a sense of reverence and wonder that elevated the whole journey. This is not your average whale-watching tour-it's in a league of its own. A soul-stirring, jaw-dropping, life-affirming kind of outing. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Whether you're a local looking to reconnect with the majesty of your own backyard or a visitor hoping for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, this is the one to book. Truly unforgettable.
