I originally rsvpd for 12:30 cruise on 7/13, but got text saying it was cancelled, but what it should have said is that my 12:30 is cancelled n that they rebooked me for the 9:30, but it was very confusing, luckily I get a text at 1:30am telling me this so I was able to go early Monday, at the counter I told the gal what happened n she upgraded us to the upper deck, which was a very nice reward. We were able to see many humpbacks, rafts of seals n birds on migration to the south. The day turned out lovely with little wind n some overcast so it was easy to see the sea life. I've been very happy with the crew on the sea goddess family, thanks for all the whale tails. read more

Awesome! The crew was knowledgeable, courteous and even entertaining. Captain Julia seemed to know right where to go. We saw a good number of Humpbacks, pods and even mega pods of dolphins, sea lions. We even saw a Mola Mola which I understand is a pretty rare occurrence. We had a great time and we saw three whales. One of them hung out with us for quite a while. We moved a bit farther out and we saw a mother and her calf swimming nearby. The calf surprised us by coming up right next to the boat. We got a great look but we weren't quick enough to snap a pic. Emily, the naturalist on our ship was wonderfully knowledgeable. Because Moss Landing is one of the best whale‑watching places on the West Coast and it's just an hour drive away from San Jose. After some research we picked Sea Goddess because they have one of the largest whale‑watching boats in the area and we had a ton of fun whale watching! The tour guide for our trip was Julette, she is very friendly, super knowledgeable and high energy. We learned a lot about the marine animals in Monterey Bay and the life of humpback whales. We were extremely lucky to spot almost 20 humpback whales in our 3 hour ride!! Pro tip: If you are worry about sea sickness, definitely pick a tour with bigger boat because it will be a lot less rocky at sea. Also make sure you take non-drowsy motion sickness drugs like Dramamine 8 hours and 1 hour before boarding. This will help reducing the symptoms. read more

Had such a great time on our tour with Sea Goddess Whale Watching. We saw so many humpback whales on our 2.5 hour excursion, and were even lucky enough to see one breaching! The guides were extremely knowledgeable about whales, the Monterey Bay, and just about all other sealife. It was so fascinating to hear them talk about all the whale and ocean facts. I had so many questions and they were happy to answer and talk about them all. This tour was just as educational as it was cool. Aside from whales we saw some otters, sea lions, and thousands of jellyfish. The jellyfish sighting was almost as cool as the whales since there were so many of them. We went out on the 9:30am tour and had pretty gloomy weather, so it was very chilly. They aren't kidding when they say you should have a hoodie, I had my hood on the entire time until we headed back into the harbor. Layers were a must, I had a windbreaker on over my hooded puffer, and gloves or a hat are also a good call to have with you. The boat is quite large and spacious. Even with a very full tour it rarely felt cramped. And I never felt unsafe being out on the water, even when a whale went under us and came out the other side of the boat. We ended up getting a groupon for Sea Goddess Whale Watching. A quick search of whale watching in the area led me to the groupon, then with a look at their Yelp page, and some great reviews, we decided this was the one. read more

We bought our tickets through Groupon scheduled for 4/27/2025 @ 9:30am. Followed the detailed instructions on how to register and book on their official website. I received a confirmation via email about our upcoming event and all that. We arrived at around 8:45am. As soon as we parked in the facility, I went inside the Harbor Master to pay for our parking, but Maria at the counter said "Sea Goddess has not been here for over 2 weeks, I believe their boats are getting fixed." I tried knocking at their RV office but there was no employee on site or some form of sign stating that there is a cancellation of today's scheduled event. I also called their phone number but to no avail. I did not receive an email regarding any cancellations or a phone call at all. We traveled quite far for us to have this experience only to go through a very disappointing business practice. Very unprofessional and unethical. I would NOT recommend this company based on our own experience! You've been warned! read more

We got tickets from a silent auction for the Central Coast Junior Achievement. We had the most amazing experience. The crew and narrator (a young man who is going to school for marine biology) were amazing but watching a humpback whale launch itself out of the water was absolutely one of the most amazing sights I have ever seen.... We had a great time on Sea Goddess' afternoon whale watching tour this month! THE TOUR // + The afternoon tour was 3 hours long, which we thought was a good amount of time. I lost count of how many humpback whales we saw - it felt like at least 20! Oftentimes they were in groups of 2-3. It was super cool seeing them surfacing to breathe and then diving deep, showing us their tails as they went under. + We also saw a ton of sea lions on the piers on our way out of the harbor, plus more rafts of sea lions swimming after the whales in the open ocean. + The boat, Goddess Fantasy, was spacious and clean. We were on the main deck and had plenty of room to sit when we wanted to, and move around inside & outside around the boat. + There were two guides on the boat: one was up on the VIP top deck who also talked over the speaker occasionally to announce whale sightings and share various facts about humpback whales and the local area, and the other was on the main deck walking around and answered many of our questions. We chatted with the guide on the main deck, who was a graduate student at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories and shared a lot of cool facts with us about fish. Loved to hear the passion in their voices! PRE-TOUR NOTES // + Buying tickets online was easy. We bought ours on their website the morning of; the website will show if there are available spots for the morning or afternoon tours. + Arrive at Moss landing harbor early recommended 30-45 min before the boarding time, so that you can check in and board on time. + Their mobile shop/check-in also has medications for seasickness, snacks, a few drinks (water, canned coffee, soda), and souvenirs. The boats themselves have water for sale for $2/each. OVERALL // I do want to try a smaller boat tour next time for a more up-close experience, but this afternoon tour with Sea Goddess was a great tour for larger groups, first-timers or those prone to seasickness, and relatively lower cost. read more

The sea breeze, fresh air, and beautiful sea creatures - whales. I was delighted to go on this tour. The staff answered all our questions, showing their professionalism. However, I was slightly disappointed. Instead of seeing four different types of whales, we only saw one in three hours. And I understand it's not the company's fault, but I wanted to see whales jumping out of the water to fully appreciate the beauty of these unique marine creatures. Overall, I recommend to take this tour at least once, especially if you have children (they will enjoy it). read more

My boyfriend and I recently went on the tour this past weekend and we really enjoyed it. We purchased our tickets through Groupon back in May and had originally reserved for a different date but it was cancelled due to weather conditions, I didn't reschedule it until recently (2 months later) and it was a really easy and fast process through email. Since our third person didn't come along, we were both able to upgrade to VIP with that unused ticket. Personally, we enjoyed being in the lower deck more than on top in VIP. Not only did we get better views of the humpback whales, but there is also more seats and the wind doesn't hit you as much. 11/11/2024 - Veteran's Day This was quite an experience for us first time whale watchers! The whole process was so smooth even though it was raining. Before checking in, make sure to get your parking pass at the office. Check in is located inside the RV. It was Veteran's Day so there was free donuts and coffee at check in. After checking in, we waited in line by the dock and was boarded into the boat 10-15 minutes after. The young ladies were so informative and good at spotting and explaining about the whales. Like I mentioned before, it was raining that morning so our hopes of seeing other sea animals like orcas and dolphins were very low. Saw a couple of humpback whales and got soaked but was worth it. We're considering making another trip on a better day. read more

I took a friend from out of town who unfortunately got seasick pretty early on. As a result, she spent the majority of the trip at the back of the boat feeding the sharks while I was at the front of the boat taking pictures. We had a lovely deckhand, Mason, who was kind enough to check on my friend many times during the trip and to relay information to me on how she was doing. We were able to see about a dozen whales and a fur seal and the only reason my friend wasn't totally down about the trip was the kindness the crew showed her when she was at her worst. read more

The experience was really great. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. We didn't see any whales for a long time, I think they went out a little farther than they normally do, but it was worth it. We finally saw a few pairs of mother and baby humpback whales. It was so cute to see the mother and baby fin come up together. Also saw one baby come up for a jump, then later a solo whale come up for a jump. Wasn't quick enough to get the jumps on video but it was amazing to see. I don't live close by, but plan on going back as soon as possible! read more

One of my best days was spotting humpback whales multiple times and seeing otters along the way. The weather changed quickly from sunny and hot to foggy and cold within minutes, but it didn't stop us from sailing out to meet the whales! Unfortunately, we didn't spot any dolphins or other types of whales besides humpback whales, but it was still wonderful to see wildlife, especially birds, otters, and the ocean in their natural habitat. I truly feel this is a therapeutic experience, absolutely loving nature, and learning more about life while protecting what we have on Earth. Definitely worth it and highly recommend! We had an amazing experience with Sea Goddess! We saw sea lions, humpbacks and orcas! The whales gave us quite the show, and the three hour tour flew by. The crew was awesome! Initially, we had tickets for February (via Groupon), but were cancelled half an hour prior to the tour due to a tsunami warning! Sea Goddess let us rebook up to a year from that date. They're not that responsive via phone, but we managed to get everything booked via email after a couple nudges. You can also upgrade to the upper deck of the boat for $20. We could see the appeal of the top for the birds eye view, but we were quite happy with the lower deck since the whales at one point came right up to the boat! The only downside was there were quite a bit more people on the lower deck vying for the primo spots! Even though it was a sunny, calm day, we still experienced some choppy waters when they cut the engine. My friend almost yacked, and I felt a little green. Moral of the story: if you're prone to sea sickness, prepare yourself even if it looks like smooth sailing! Parking is $11 at the harbor master. They take cash and credit cards. Disappointing to say the least. I was in a party of 8 and while I understand that "wildlife is unpredictable" like the announcer said probably 40 times while on the boat, what we "saw" was unfortunate. For the entire 2 hours the Moss landing smoke stacks were never that far away which is how I knew we did not go out very far over the whole 2 hr period. My husband said he saw 2 small calf sized whales. The first was just the whale surfacing for about 10 sec and then diving again so he said he saw the tail come above the surface for a few seconds. The second was from very far away he saw the whales back... again just for a few seconds before that one dove down and did not come back up. And that was about it. I saw the back of what I thought was the second whale for a few seconds but I believe I got lucky as people were quickly moving from one side of the boat to the other once the announcer said she "saw" something. I thought it was also sad that as we were leaving the harbour the announcer warned us that we basically bought tickets during a slow time and pretty much let us know we should not expect much as were were already trapped on the boat . What is even more sad is that there is a chalkboard sign posted at check-in listing a number for how many whales were spotted and what species . Shame on me I guess for not asking when they were actually seen and if they were seen by their boat. We saw a ton of seals but I could have walked down the road and pier and seen them for free as that was where they all were. I have no pictures or video's to post because mostly nothing happened and I did not have time time to get my phone out for the few seconds I did see something. read more

Fantastic Tour - we went on a warm day (was 80F in Moss Landing) which made a perfect day (70s) out in the Monterey Bay. Tour was well managed, everyone was super polite and the crew did keep us reminded about the 3-point safety rule (keep your feet on the deck and one hand on a rail or seat). We saw over a dozen whales. At least 3-4 good sightings of whale showing us their tails as they dove. And finally a pod of dolphins swimming right next to the boat! All this and the decently sized Goddess Fantasy boat never gave us any motion sickness - was very stable - even the prow was easily managed by my frequently motion-sick kid. Finally the best rates we could find. Would definitely do again & highly recommend! read more

I've been on over a dozen whale watching tours in Monterey Bay and this was by far the worst. The boat left late, returned early, and spent most of the time circling near the harbor with no clear plan or effort to find wildlife. Communication was poor throughout, and when I raised concerns, the naturalist (Chris) was dismissive and uninterested in feedback. It felt like they had no intention of delivering a quality experience that day. Disappointing, especially compared to the incredible tours typically available in this area. Great first time whale watching experience! Check-in was easy and well organized. The crew (Sierra the naturalist, Mike the deckhand, and Captain Julia) were professional and knowledgeable and made sure everyone was safe. They did a fantastic job pointing out wildlife and Capt. Julia maneuvered the boat closer so we could get a better view. We saw humpback whales (Fran and her calf), moon jellies, harbor seals, assorted birds, and.... Mola Mola aka ocean sunfish! Sierra and Mike both had lots of information to share and happily answered questions. Passengers ranged from toddlers to grandparents. This was good family entertainment for everyone! Update 9/1/22: I just read that Fran was the victim of a ship strike and she passed away :( RIP Fran. Prayers your calf is ok and thriving. read more
