I used this service for Kayaking and the worker tipped us at the end of our trip and lost my husbands prescription glasses. They had zero empathy and didn't even offer to retrieve the eyeglasses or provide refund for a horrible ending. Then following year we attempted to rent jet skis two days in a row since they were the only company to provide this near us and both reservations were cancelled because the "boss didn't want to go out in the water that day". This company is not ran by professionals and does NOT have the best interest of the customers experience at all! Do NOT recommend despite convenient location! read more

The staff were very accommodating to guide us, provide safety rules, instructions in driving the boat and getting us set to the water. We had a great experience renting our double kayak! We made reservations in advance and signed the waiver online. Doing this online made everything easy when we arrived. Make sure to arrive early so you can find parking before your reservations starts. We went to the earliest time slot so we had no trouble finding parking. Check the weather because mornings can be a little chilly. Overall great staff! We enjoyed kayaking the harbor. It was fun seeing sea lions, boats, and other people passing by. I'd definitely come back to rent from them if we go kayaking again! They also rent boats so I'd like to try that sometime. read more

I always come here to rent a kayak for a couple of hours. The employees are always very kind, helpful & make sure you understand the safety and zoning before you go. it's very affordable: for 1 hour I paid 30$ which that included the kayak, paddle life jacket and storage of my backpack and belongings in their locked shack. I also love that they have a "frequent flyers" card. once you do 10 rentals you get an hour free. The harbor is beautiful from the water side. I would definitely reccomend renting from Oceanside boat retal. read more

We rented their 22 foot electric boat with surry top to cruise the Oceanside Harbor with our 8 grandsons and some adult guests. What a pleasurable time it was. Sea life abounds, boats with all sorts of names, and unusual sights like two military small vessels loaded with combat ready Marines and a sea lion who flipped a fish out of the water and then promptly made a meal of it. The boat rental people are efficient, friendly, and very cooperative. We got a wonderful safety briefing for the kids that was educational and humorous. We rent a boat every year when we come to CA. The staff is friendly and they are really laid back about the rentals. One time, we rented for an hour, they said, if you decide to stay out for 2, we'll just charge you when you get back. They tell you if other parties have seen dolphins and where they may be. The only compl we had was this weekend, we were not allowed to go out on the ocean, we could only stay in the harbor. We still had fun, but it's not the same. Hopefully, that restriction will be lifted before we rent again. read more

The boat was clean and sanitized, which is greatly appreciated during these times. The whole process of checking in was very easy. Everyone working was very kind and helpful! We rented a powerboat for 2 hours. I brought my dog with me and they allowed him on the boat. We brought snacks and spent the time in the harbor. It was so much fun! The views are beautiful, there's plenty of sea lions swimming around which my dog just loved! When our time was over we wanted to add additional time because we were having so much fun and that was easy as well. We'll definitely be going back soon! Shoutout to OBR for the great customer service. I didn't have a reservation for a 1-person kayak, but was able to get one without any problems on a Friday morning. The crew got me in the water minutes after signing my paperwork and payment. My girlfriend brought her own personal paddle board, and they even allowed her to launch her board on the same dock even though she didn't rent anything from them. Not only that, they were nice enough to let her hose down her board using their hose afterwards as well. They went above and beyond, and I'll definitely be coming back. read more

We were loooking to do something very special for Father's Day and we decided to rent a Duffy boat to cruise Oceanside Harbor. This is a very fun thing to do for anyone looking for a relaxing fun time. We booked our reservation a week prior. They cand we were told to arrive early for instructions prior to our time. We packed a picnic loaded with appetizers and beverages. We opened a fine bottle of wine and toasted to celebrate my wonderful husband and worlds best father. It was overcast and June gloom. But, nothing could stop us from having a wonderful afternoon with family celebrating our special father/ husband we love so much. If you're looking for a special thing to do. What a fun experience! We rented 2 double person kayaks and 1 single person kayak for 1 hour. Reasonably priced rental for 1 hour at $20 for a single person. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. It was pretty straightforward. If you have never been kayaking before, they will help you. A few tips: *I highly recommend bringing a waterproof and floatable case/bag for your phone (or wear a smart watch to keep track of the time. *Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult on the water. *children 13 and u der must wear a life vest. *you must bring a debit or cc card to have on file, for security reasons they won't rent to you without one. *bring sunglasses and a hat for those sunny days on the water. Have lunch at harbor fish and chips afterwards! read more

Really sad to write this review, because I've had some amazing experiences renting boats from these guys. I've referred dozens of people, and have shared videos of dolphins, whales, and sea lions I've seen from their boats. But, I just got back - and they've stopped renting anything that goes outside the harbor. No powerboats, no jet skis, no sailboats. They've got a bunch of 9hp electric boats you can putter across the 1000ft x 1000ft harbor. To me, that's pointless. You can also get paddle boards and kayaks. I think that's it. The staff has always been great, and no doubt they still are. Note that the description of this place still says they rent jet skis and powerboats. 60% of the pictures are of things that aren't possible anymore. I'd be a definite 5 star if they even had like one or two of the three (power boat, jet ski, sailboat...or anything I could leave the harbor in) - but they removed all three, and so sadly I guess they're dead to me ;) Pour one out. read more

With Covid and all they were really short staffed, but the guys working the facility the day we were there got us in and going in short order. I had spoken to Arthur (the head manager) regarding a miss understanding a few months ago (July). He was very kind over the phone and asked to email him the dates and times i was available and he would honor my 2 hr boat rental. This is where it gets BAD, i emailed 5x, called 15x, left voicemails 10x trying to reach him. After i did what he said and he was DODGING me the whole time. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. The funniest part is that till this day he hasn't returned any emails or messages regarding what he promised. We rented 3 kayaks this past Sunday 8/23/20. The staff was very friendly. I definitely recommend booking any pedal boats and electric boats a few days in advance. We were not able to rent a pedal boat online 3 days prior (website was not allowing me to select that as an option) so we arrived thinking we can just get one, but they had all been reserved for the afternoon so thats how we ended up with the last 3 kayaks. What a great first time experience for all of us on a motor boat, through this boat rental. I know that my husband and friend had gone through them before renting paddle boats years ago and I don't know what his experience was then, but this is mine. My husband made the call to make reservations on a covered boat, which we would not be able to take beyond a certain point. As we arrived my husband changed the reservations to a motor boat. I had met Arthur the one my husband was dealing with on the phone. Both Arthur and Israel were very friendly, and very informative of safety procedures. They informed us we "may" see some dolphins and sure enough we found a pod of them as well as seals on the buoy. My friend from out of town suggested we go paddleboarding, I asked her if she wanted to go in the lagoon or the harbor, and she picked the harbor so this rental place came to mind! It's right across from the fish and chips place. We parked in the Joe's Crab Shack lot and walked over. We went on a Saturday around 10:30 am. Very easy, you just sign some forms, put your stuff in a cubby, your valuables in a lock box they keep under the cashier register and you're ready to go! The guy sets you up and then they push you off! Pretty big area to explore, you just can't go into the open ocean. Bummer, but oh well. Still a fun time! $25/hr $40 for 2 hours. Friendly service! What a fun way to enjoy the Oceanside harbor. They have kayaks, paddleboards, electric boats, jet skis & ski boats for rent. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I find it very therapeutic to kayak around the harbor and enjoy seeing the boats and seals. You can make reservations but in the off season you can usually just walk up and rent what you want. read more
