You can only get in here with a member - and most people are either married into or born into membership at Hurlingham because the wait is around 15 years - but luckily members can bring a bunch of people at a time. The grounds are gorgeous and with a perfect weather weekend you can spend hours wandering around and taking in the beautiful scenery. If you decide to opt for a membership, by the time your name is at the top of the list 15 or so years down the track, you may just be about nearing the right age to fit in with the clientele here. Yes, I'm talking OAPs. This club is a million miles away from the media crowd you find in most well known members club, this really is a place for the old-school English gentleman in his suit - which gives it a special vibe. Oh and don't forget your crisp whites on the tennis courts, no other gear allowed here!

You feel like you've stepped into some alternate universe where everyone is friendly and nice. There's a great playground for children, an outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi i think, tennis courts, croquet lawns etc. There are the usual rules regarding wearing only white. The restaurant is also quite yummy though I wouldn't say it's mind-blowing. The BBQ in the summer is delicious though! Obviously the down-sides are that it's ridiculously expensive to become a member and the waiting list is close to almost a century.

But if you think that The Rushmore Group which owns all these establishments had given up on exclusive drinking dens, you'd be wrong. Nestled under Tiny Robot is the Starland Social Club. As you might imagined, under a place called Tiny Robot, it's not big. A maximunm capacity of 50 covers I'd wager makes the place feel really special, not cramped. This lastest members only club is a fantastic haven from the pretentious (yes I know it's called Starland - but bare with me) wilds of Westbourne Grove. You won't find botoxed yummy mummies down here, nor will you find a hen party giggling in the corner. This is a place for relaxing, meeting friends and having some brilliant cocktails in very low (and therefore very flattering) light. Ah, but it's members only - however the last few times I have been this hasn't been adhered to particularly strictly (although on a Saturday night this might be the case due to space). It's essentially a fantastic little secret bolthole. So if you're in the area and fancy a Gimlet or a laugh with the super nice barstaff, or a giggle at the pictures of the founder members on the walls, pop into Starland, if there's space.

The poached eggs were pretty much solid, the hash browns a bit undercooked and sausage a bit dry. Coffee was good and came out hot.
