I won't get into the previous altercation as I decided to write it off to youngsters trying to enforce adult rules. So we walked in past the hostess who we let know we were going to have drinks in the bar, she said have a good time. We were served by the bar tender, 2 servers and involved with 2 guests at the bar. 25 minutes and 2 drinks later the manager comes to me and says, I need to have a collar, I am wearing my military unit hoodie and had my navy hat in hand and the other people sitting at the bar are not wearing collars.(Which is a dinner requirement not lunch/bar) They were wearing sweat suits which I pointed out, he stated the collar on the sweat suit counted as a collared shirt. I asked him to bring me the rules, there was nothing about wearing a collar, instead it said golf, tennis or sports wear, nothing about hoodies or collars. Found the rule for before dinner: Clubhouse Casual resort and golf attire is allowed in the dining rooms. Tennis attire is allowed in the dining rooms for lunch and on the Terraces. No bathing suits, tee shirts, or cutoffs may be worn in the Clubhouse. The observation I can make is they are anti~veteran, elitist or just poor staff training, and they will sell you a membership but you aren't members. Use caution and remember you may pay hundreds of dollars for visiting member but they will work real hard to prevent you from enjoying the amenities you have paid for while allowing members to usurp the rules. We paid $50 for tickets for Christmas Eve Brunch I will NOT be attending. Do not do The DHICC membership.

The ceremony began outside next to the Shoals club wooden pergola overlooking the ocean at sunset. This alone makes the shoals club special, it was gorgeous! Once the ceremony concluded we were shown to the patio area of the Shoals club, where there were several bars set up, staff was also passing glasses of wine and bottles of beer so the bar lines didn't get too backed up (why don't more venues do this?), and there was a seafood buffet on ice that would make King Neptune jealous. Crab, shrimp, mussels, bacon wrapped scallops, crab cakes, I died and went to heaven. Seriously. It was incredible. After the seafood appetizer buffet had been destroyed by the party, we moved inside for a sit down dinner, which was casual bbq fair. If there is a weak point at the shoals club, their bbq didn't hold a candle to it's fresh seafood. But that's okay, I was good. After dinner, we moved back outside for a DJ and dancing! It was a fantastic evening, and one of the best wedding's I've ever been too, and I've been to too many. Overall, the Shoals club is a special place on a special island and my husband and I are trying to get back there next summer.

This is our 3rd year buying a temporary membership while renting a large house on BHI. We had a…read morelarge multigenerational group which is typical. The rules about showing cards for everything are archaic and annoying. We had to show cards multiple times including entering the club area, requesting towels and requiring cards for the cabana chairs and umbrellas. Our approach was to send a couple of the adults out first to set things up before the children and older family members arrived, but that was not possible. You can't get in without a card and there is no electronic record the club utilizes to confirm that we have paid our membership and to keep track of how many towels, cabana chairs and umbrellas we had. At one point, we had 3 cards with us and needed 3 chairs and 2 umbrellas but were told we could only have one umbrella for 3 chairs even though the full sun was blazing overhead and one chair could not be shaded at all. We left feeling like we were an irritant to the staff and the rules and silly enforcement of the rules after paying close to $1000 for the week left a very bad taste in our mouths.

Over the years we've experienced terrible food on many occasions, so much so that we've stopped attending events and eating in the restaurant almost entirely. For Easter one year the food was inedible and we were reimbursed for our meal for our family of 7. Another time my husband took our children to the pool and was declined food due to a brunch service happening which is not the end of the world. He was then directed to the snack bar to get a hot dog, but they had no buns. It's silly and simple but it all adds up quickly when you're paying thousands of dollars each year and you come to enjoy your amenities and are unable to feed your hungry children. This has happened multiple times, whether the pool is closed, and not one communication has been sent out so families pile in their cars, get their kids ready and sunscreen on, only to drive up and be turned away. When we joined they had family friendly events like hayrides and now they look to charge $25 per child for their events. It's absurd to think that a family with two children would pay $50 for dollar store crafts on top of food and beverages while on-site. Keep in mind nothing is included in the charge of $25 per child so if you're hungry or thirsty, better pay up. There are members of the staff that are very sweet and long time employees and I do appreciate their work but the management of this club has continued to decline year over year. They will communicate 757867863 times regarding anything to do with the golf course but ZERO regarding the pool. There is an entire demographic of social members that use the pool each year. This year, it's not even open yet because the management has taken such poor care of the facilities. The pump was broken, they have cut ties with the pool maintenance company and brought in a another but the algae bloomed so bad they cannot get it open. The pool typically opens each April and it's almost memorial day with no opening day in sight. The icing on the cake is that they've only communicated this onceto the members. Remember when I said they email 24/7 for golf. Once, one email that's it. Most people are getting updates from the swim team. Meanwhile, they are expecting us to cough up hundreds of more dollars for renovation projects as social members. If I can warn one family, I'll warn them all- save your money, go to a functioning club with a better experience. I would never advise anyone to join PVCC. Just when we think our expectations can't get lower, they fall to below sea level.

I had it Oscar style and the crab cake was the size of a half dollar and there was barely any crab meat in it. It was mostly breading.
