Anglers Marine - Robalo 222

Anglers Marine

I recently visited Anglers Marine Supply in Shallotte, NC to purchase a boat, and unfortunately,…read morethe overall experience was disappointing. The staff (with the notable exception of sales representative Carter, who was helpful and professional) came across as unwelcoming and unfriendly. It genuinely felt like they were not interested in earning our business, which was surprising given that we were there to buy a boat--specifically, to repurchase our own boat that they had in inventory. The attitude from most of the team left us feeling undervalued and frustrated. If it hadn't been for the specific boat we wanted, we would have taken our business elsewhere without hesitation. While the facility and selection seemed decent, the poor customer service overshadowed everything else. I would recommend potential buyers consider other marine supply and boat dealers in the area that treat customers with basic courtesy and enthusiasm. Unfortunately, this visit left a sour impression, and I won't be returning.

Was a little disappointed in the delivery time, but that was more the fault of the manufacturer than Anglers Marine, in fact they were kind enough to store it for me over the winter so I wasn't paying extra fees while not being able to use it. Closing on and picking up the boat happened at two separate times, both went smoothly. There was a minor hiccup with the seats, which they have promised to correct next time I bring it in for it's first service. So far, have been very pleased with them and my purchase. They have been highly responsive and accommodating.

(Jimmy's Marine supposedly filled the tank as an infinitive for buying however only 30% full and obviously old gas or something because water in fuel alarm.) Called and was told it was fine and to use the gas in it and add more and it should fix the problem. It did not. The screen spontaneously stopped working along with the tilt trim and depth finder. Took the boat back to Jimmy's and was charged $600 for supposedly the first service. This is after all the issues as well as the time they had to look into a so called brand new boat while on vacation. This place is pathetic I will NEVER do business with these people again. Stay away from this place, nicest people ever until we actually purchased this boat and now they don't know you or care anything about you.

The boat was running great and it was Jimmy's marine that did the last tune up. I took the boat directly to Jimmy's marine and left it for about a week. They did the tune up and replaced a throttle and shift cable. When I put it back in the water it was running very ruff and I couldn't get started one time. I let them know and they told me to bring it back in. When I went to pick it up they handed me a bill for $300.00. Boat was fine when I brought it in and not right after they gave it back to me. He said that they didn't damage the part and refused to do anything about it. Now I need to sue the company to get my money back.

Be aware of how this company bills- I have no idea if he is good or not because a diagnosed or…read morerepair was never completed. Was told 150 an hour -ok! Showed up Thursday with a "helper" in tow (no helper was ever mentioned prior - 2 hours on the boat total- But owner sat down at our table for 30 min plus on a phone call unrelated to our issue. Owner Took breaker from panel and part of our manual for research - heard nothing back till Monday asking if we could pay the bill. Owner resent bill- Charges - 150 and hour for owner and helper EACH Travel charges - 225 EACH with a ferry charge???? I'm at a marina you can drive too!! Charged me 150 for his research at shop. Then when questioned - response was I told you we are good but expensive and I charge for travel- his shop is in Wilmington - boat was in Southport. Charged 3 hours of travel for owner and Helper each. $1200 dollars for nothing!!!! Oh did give 10% military discount. I drove to his shop to get our breaker and manual back - he said he would drop off Saturday as a favor. Be aware and ask charges before he comes to your boat!!!!!
