I would say in general, Officemax is a delightful chain that takes my favorite part of the grocery store and expands it beyond my wildest imagination. I could spend hours in here. I wasn't able to spend a lot of time methodically combing through this particular store, as I would have preferred, but I will say I spoke with an associate who knew exactly what I was looking for and where it lived. I was able to check out quickly, there weren't a lot of people at this location when I went (in the middle of a Saturday). Anything you're looking for here is available in several options, there are practical looking office things, as well as some really stylish notebooks, pens, pencil bags, desk organizers, decor, etc. I will most definitely be back to peruse their resplendent selection of paperclips soon. read more

Walked into this OfficeMax today to buy a plastic mat that goes underneath my office chair. I couldn't find one in the store and there was nobody around to help me find one. So I left, went home and ordered one on Amazon. It will be delivered tomorrow. OfficeMax really needs to step up their service or they're going to lose all of their business to Amazon. read more

Yup. They still sell office stuff. And lots of it. This have become my de facto office supply place, and so I've been maybe a dozen times or so since the last review. Of note amongst those visits I should mention was a fairly large purchase of a laser printer/all-in-one. I caught a crazy good clearance deal, so it's always worth perusing in-store if you're in the market. The printer was a gift, so I have no idea how it's working out...but that's on the manufacturer, not the retailer, anyway. Mostly I'm here for the simple stuff--markers, pens, the occasional ream of paper, and most recently, an ink pad. Their ink pads are kinda lousy--they're great if you're looking for a gel-based pad that's nice and clean--but I was after the old school ink pad that takes a mighty fine fingerprint. I bought an ink bad here a while back and it was already dry. I went back today to look for a replacement, and all they have is the lousy (but admittedly cleaner) gel kind, so I ended up at a craft store. And that's the longest paragraph you will ever read about ink pads. All in all I have no complaints. There's office stuff, and lots of it. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! Their print center is horrible and they couldn't care less about the customers or their jobs. Tried to have one of them help because one of their printers were down. They yelled at me told me that I could do was wait that they wouldn't help in anyway. I tried to copy down the email to send them the papers I needed printed and have them do it so I could pick up later. They grabbed the email paper from in front and yelled you can't use that email. read more

Officemax is a pretty decent office supply store. They offer a wide selection of products for your home office or business needs. The store itself is pretty nice inside, not overwhelming huge like the Office Depot on 21st, so it's a little easier to find what you want. The store's inventory is neat and well-organized on the shelves, but just confusing to find sometimes. I don't know if office supply stores are designed to be intentionally confusing (maybe they figure you'll get lost and buy more impulse items, "Yes I DO need five Hello Kitty mousepads!"), but it seems like it's always hard to find what I'm looking for right off at Officemax or any other office supply store. When you go to the grocery store you can look up, and BAM!, find the right aisle for the purple Kool-aide no problem. But at Officemax or any other office supply store I feel like I always end up wandering around for at least 5 or 10 minutes before finding what I'm looking for. This problem would be easily remedied with some better signage and a few more staff members. It seems like every time I don't need help the employees ask me if I need help... but when I really do need help it's hard to find anyone... oh the irony... Contrary to Jeffrey's review my experience parking at this Officemax has not been easy. The turn lane to pull into their parking lot serves many nearby businesses and it is always busy. I always feel like something is going to hit me as I pull into the parking area because there is a crazy four way stop right there and people never seem like they are paying attention. Had to buy ink but the Brother ink was very expensive. As such I started to consider a new large format printer. Canon, Epson, and Brother were out of stock. Ended up buying a new HP because of the stock problems with others. Sucked even more when the cashier made a snide comment that if I really wanted a different model I could find it somewhere else. OfficeMax, more like OfficeMin. I came here looking for some stationary supplies, and found myself wanting. Unfortunately for an office store the stationery supplies here are sparse. You will find better luck visiting a store like Michael's or Target. The gentleman who work here are not very helpful either. They may point you in the right direction, but I get the feeling they don't know their store very well. There is a reason these office stores are slowly dying off. My recommendation would be to call the location and ask if they have what you need before driving over. Save yourself some time and gas. read more

What ever you do, DO NOT purchase the 2 yr. warranty for Laptops from OfficeMax or Office Depot. I bought a Laptop and it had problems which they couldn't fix. The warranty department is easy to work with but they wanted to replace it with a refurbished one or one that's comparable to the one I have. I have an i5 processor on my Laptop and now they're trying to pushing an i3. When you talk to the salesmen, they'll tell you they'll replace it or give you back the money you paid for it, that won't happen. And if you go back to the store where you bought it, they'll blow you off. They'll replace your computer, but it will be an older model laptop. The warranty is a JOKE! read more

The best customer service I've ever had. I stopped in to get two items and within five seconds of walking in the door an employee asked me if she could help me find anything. She led me straight to the item I needed and was so polite and friendly. Then another friendly employee asked me if I needed help and led me to the second item. The cashier was helpful and happy. I was in and out of there in three minutes and was impressed by the cleanliness and organization of the store. Plus the employees were attentive and nice. Dropped off some papers to be copied and bound into a book. IT TOOK THEM 3 days. I came in on then2nd day and they hadn't even started yet. Half way through the 3rd day I came in and they hadn't even bound the book yet, I had to wait 20 minutes. I had the same book made at staples months before and it took them 90 minutes. I asked for a discount they agreed to 20% and then refunded me 3 dollars, the original total was $58.00. read more

Recently move to salt lake and used to always use staples. Decided to try office max and I received super fast and super friendly service. Unfortunately when I get home and actually looked through my entire order the last page was missing. I went back and explained it to them and they happily reprinted my last page and didn't charge me. The location at 1016 E. Fort Union Blvd. Midvale, UT 84047 is a cesspool of the most incompetent, apathetic idiot managers I have ever seen. I've used this location for about 6 months. I will never use it again. Without fail, every single time I submitted an order online, I ended up waiting for my printing. (Something you're not supposed to do, because the Online Printing option sure sells it as a plus.) And I don't mean 5 minutes, I mean 20 to 30 minutes while someone struggled to find my order or reprint it because it hadn't been processed. When I was lucky, they could find their ass with both hands, a flashlight, and a special ass-map. Without fail, every single time I went into the store, I saw the rank-and-file peons scrambling while the managers sat around shooting the shit. One of my longest visits was because the girl behind the desk was struggling to answer the half dozen questions of the man in front of me, while fifteen feet away management joked about moving a display. And then they moved a display three inches, which was clearly a critical task they needed to do right them. And when I said the girl needed help, they looked annoyed at being taken away from their fun time. My last visit was this Friday. I submitted an online order at noon, and went in at 5:30PM. A manager was working the printing desk, and spent 20 minutes insisting that I must have submitted the order somewhere else, and then struggling to find my printing when a phone call to another location proved that I hadn't made that mistake. He had no idea where anything was, because the employee who normally worked the desk had called in sick. I was on a timeline, and when he finally offered to reprint things for me if I just so happened to have the files on me, I gave up in disgust. I asked for a chargeback to my card and asked to speak to a manager. "I am the manager," this fellow said. "You're the manager?" I said. "Of the WHOLE store?" "Yes." "Then I think I need a phone number for whoever is above you." I told him the incompetence of his store was breath-taking. And it is. I cannot believe how long it takes your employees, Office Depot, to print things when they have a machine that prints things for them. I'm awestruck by the number of employees working the printing area who have no idea what DPI is, or that when I haven't indicated "fit to size" I mean I really don't want shit blown up to 8.5x11. And lastly, I cannot believe your MANAGERS, of all people, are not trained OR training employees on the proper place to put things, organize, or for God's sake indicate where the Online Print Orders go. Does any of this sound like good training to you? Or sharp employees trained by clever managers? Because this was black-and-white, occasional color on glossy cardstock shit; I wasn't trying to print photographs on canvas. Something this simple seemed to utterly and completely baffle your employees at Fort Union, time and time again, so I'm not exactly sure what you're paying them for, but it's most emphatically not to print things. When even your managers appear completely and totally helpless over basic tasks, it makes me wish I had a job where I could just suck air and get paid. read more
