I walked into the shop, the bulk of the shop, where all the merchandise is, is cordoned off with red barrier posts. The method of this shop, this MSY, is that you go up to the counter and you tell the people what you want, they fetch it for you, you pay, you leave. Shopping experience completed. I wait in line for a while, there are only two people behind the counter and a few customers are milling about within the confines of the barriers. I tell him I want an external hard drive. "Two Terabytes" I say. He gives me some options and makes a recommendation. This is more customer service than I had expected. The device is much cheaper than you can get it elsewhere. A quick search of the internet confirms this. As I stood in line waiting for my turn I did overhear a conversation between the store clerk and a customer in regards to why they had more people in the store moving things around. Apparently they are changing the system up to be more like a classic shop where people can browse and walk about the property. Who knows how long that will be.

I recently stopped by to pick up some goodies for my three-year-old niece. I chose a Hello Kitty mug and filled it with an assortment of wacky hair-clips and lip-glosses. It ended up costing around $30, which in my opinion is a little too expensive for the quality of the merchandise. Nonetheless, the kids (particularly little girls) LOVE the stuff. So in that way, it's worth paying a little bit more. And encouraging toys that aren't Barbie's or Bratz is an added bonus!

Intrigued, I parked and called the number. A lady answered and showed me into her home. The floor was scattered with works in progress. Little chairs, dressers, old mirrors. Upstairs her partner is a carpenter and builder. It's a strange little set up but what a great marketing tool. There's a lot of traffic on that busy street and it certainly piqued my interest enough to purchase a repainted 1920's bedside table. It's really cute and she has done a great job in retaining it's original beauty. The other day I was passing again and they have a retro bathroom sink and a kitchen sink in their window.
