No wonder there were only two other stragglers there besides us. When she was finished she got out a pile of papers for a craft. I have no idea what this was supposed to be (see photo). But I DO know that it has been photocopied 750,000 times since it was first made and it was faint and pixelated like an Atari game. Really, how hard can it be to find a perky, animated, woman to read stories once a week? And throw a little craft in there? Besides being the Land of Children, Utah also holds the title Land of Perky, Energetic, Women Who Love Kids. You've got to get yourself together, Davis County Public Library.

I was greeted when I walked in to the security office and given a mask (they still wear masks in this office). They had me sign in at the kiosk and then wait for my number to be called. I think I sat there for less than 2 minutes when my number was called. They told me to go to a weird window, so security pointed me in the correct direction. They even walked back to make sure I made it. The person at the window was really nice. He helped me get my name changed and it took probably 3 minutes max. I was in and out of this place within 10 minutes. Going through security took the longest because there were two groups ahead of me. From the beginning to the end, every single person I encountered was sweet! Even the janitor smiled and said hello! I will 100% visit this location again.

Some people can chose to go inside and park, but if you want to avoid traffic I would recommend parking at the high school and taking the shuttle bus in. A lot of people chose to park at Weber, I would avoid it cause the line to get on the bus I super long. Important note to do is to apply sun block. Lots and lots of sun block. There is no where to hide in the shade here cause a lot of people already took the good spots under the planes, the only shade available. I see a lot of people and at the end of the day they are so red and sun burned. I was even super sun burn cause I forgot to reapply sun block. Also remember to keep hydrated. They sell drinks and food every corner you turn. So keep energize/hydrated. The food isn't that bad. I bought a burger and it was actually juicy and not dry. I would recommend buying your food/drinks before you hit the crowds cause the lines are shorter. There are a lot of cool looking things everywhere during the airshow. You're able to go into the transporter airplanes. Sit in jeep trucks and see all the different airplanes and helicopters used. The air show itself is wonderful and can be seen anywhere on the base or even off the base. Totally worth going to.

This is my brother's library. It serves the Ogden Valley where he lives. The hours here put our…read morelibrary hours to shame. It's even open on Sundays. The building doesn't look particularly elegant from the outside, but inside it's spacious and the walls of windows bring in a lot of light and frame the surrounding mountains. There are computers lining the long front wall and there's always been at least one and usually more available when we've been there. The librarians are friendly and helpful and of course they know my brother, who's there a lot. There's a community meeting room and as you might expect, it serves as a gathering place for the valley's residents. Movies are shown and there are book groups and lectures. Art exhibits rotate through and paintings are hung on the walls of the entryway and beyond. There are attractive iron gates which presumably close off the library when it's closed but leave the community center available. I am unabashedly a library fan and this one is a gem valued and used by its community. I've sat at the computer when the weather outside is sunny or snowy and watched people drive up and come in, staying briefly or for a long time and then leaving.

It was literally shaking my windows on the fifth floor. I called the police department. It is now 930 and the guy is gone and no-show. Not a call not a response at all. Totally useless. Dogs are up here every day of a week unleashed and I've probably seen a police officer up here twice. There are a few officers on the force that are not honest. I have a girlfriend who drinks and drives quite often and the Ogden Police Dept covers up for her because her husband was a police officer. Just like most Ogden Police Dept has some bad seeds.

People were making comments in line with my thoughts, and I decided to call and ask if they could do a wellness check. I explained everything, and the dispatcher was extremely nice to me. (Not something I'm used to here locally, sadly). I left my name and number but asked to remain anonymous should the person they are checking on asked. I spent probably a good 5 or so minutes on the phone with dispatch. A bit later my phone rang, with an unknown number. I had a feeling it was related to this, so I answered. It was the officer calling me back to give me an update. Also something I am not used to here, locally. I am so appreciative for everything related to this. From the second I called to the time I hung up with the officer. Everything was ok - but had I ignored my feeling and something happened with my friend, I never would have forgiven myself for ignoring my gut feeling. Thank you to the dispatcher, and officer for everything. You are amazing. And thank you for everything you do, every day. You are all true heroes.

My job as an investigator in the private sector means that sometimes I have to send the bad guy or girl to jail. People steal and if they didn't, I would probably be doing something else for a living. As a professional interrogator, I have learned that people steal out of need, greed, and opportunity. I get the "need" and even "opportunity" reasons. But when a suspect takes advantage and gets greedy, then I have no choice to get the local PD involved. My company has a good history with the Layton City Police Department. Anytime we have an issue and their assistance is needed, they're always quick to respond. Keep in mind, I work in Vegas too and sometimes PD response is over an hour. Layton is quick. I was recently at the Layton City Police Department to file charges against a couple of thieves. I came prepared with their confession statements, video evidence, and paper trail. The process is simple here. There's a phone at the station that I had to pick up and talk to dispatch. Dispatch took my info and sent an officer to meet me. I met with the officer and we discussed my case in the interview room. I could tell that the officer was very interested in my case. He took my evidence, wrote his statement, and gave me the case numbers. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. It's a breath of fresh air when I deal with PD that's willing to take one of my cases. In SoCal or Las Vegas, a lot of cases get dropped because PD either takes too long to respond or have bigger fish to fry. I like the fact that Layton is a smaller city.
