The first words out of my mother's mouth when she arrived in the room for rehab was "This place is…read morea dump!". There was nothing on the wall facing the bed other than a TV and a very crooked mounted wall holder for the activity calendar. There was no shelf or place to put pictures of family or vase of flowers that she could see from her bed to help cheer and motivate her. The built in dresser was also positioned to where no one in the bed could see any items on top of the dresser, and the wooden drawers stuck and twisted making them very difficult to open or close. The bathroom appeared clean, but a strong smell of urine was always present. In addition to the room being totally depressing, not even one chair was present in the room for a visitor to sit. Missing also was the portable thermostat (finally brought days later from another room) or bed controls (brought to the room 2 weeks later again from another room) that my mother could use. Even the staff struggled to adjust the bed with the controls at the end of the bed. Shortage of equipment continued with the staff struggling to locate foot rests for the wheel chair. There also appeared to be a shortage of staff for let visitors enter or leave the facility and not even a door bell to press when leaving. Visitors just had to wait until a staff member walked by in order to leave. Although my mother was able to walk 25 feet upon arrival for the evaluation physical therapist and another 15 feet after resting, she failed to show progress after that day. A major cause of this was the difficulty we had getting the facility to add nutritional supplements to her diet until over a week after we requested this, resulting in continual weight loss and energy. My mother's appetite was poor and though we were told we could select from a choice of food for her meals, nothing we ever tried to select were brought to her. The final draw was when I found one of her diapers on the floor on the far side of the bed. We made the decision immediately to locate a better place for her. That was probably a relief to the social worker who was continually pressing us for our plan "B". While several of the assistants and the physical therapist were very kind and caring to my mother, the experience overall was very unpleasant. If you care for the health and recovery of you loved one in need of rehab, choose another place.

In time we were glad to return to the clinic to reopen patient file and continue treatment , Either through insurance that we now carry or out of pocket as we are in a situation to be able to financially do so if necessary. Was a very embarrassing situation when an office manager pulled us into a room to ask us if they were not in network with our insurance then how were we going to afford to pay? Now there we're no problems in the past for payment. Never having a reason to have met their office manager in the past . Although I thought it was a very unprofessional question to ask a patient or potential patient as I was there to fill out new patient papers as well.Loss of a child can and did change many things within a family unit.Finances are back in place and able to pay out of pocket if necessary.This office manager proceeded to ask us why do you have insurance if you can't use it here?I did my best to explain to her that there are many other medical reasons to have insurance other than psychologist and psychiatric care.You might get pregnant , grow a tumor ,not to mention no ins. at the end of the year fee on taxes lol . It was quite amazing to me to be in an office that is supposed to be able to help people that may have disorders or difficulties and are there asking for assistance in dealing with their every day situations and have someone create one within the office that seem to be , something that had never been put in front of me to deal with before in 57 years. Needless to say that if a person does have certain disorders, I would think that anyone working in these offices would be educated in this area enough to know that this is definitely a trigger for people with certain disorders and to explain this to the lady that she was making us feel very uncomfortable making us feel like we weren't worthy to pay them orwelcome there and we were going to have to wait till the following day to find out if she was going to allow our file to be reopened and to be a patient in their facility again, there were no problems in the past and we were given a nice letter when we did have to discontinue treatment and it states in that letter "at a later date you would like to return as a patient. Please contact the office to schedule an appt.Then repetitively more than three times.she wanted to know how we would pay for our own prescriptions. How are we gonna be able to pay for that , have you ever been asked a question like that before ??Told her to look back at the file or call where they called in our prescriptions and see we've always picked up our prescriptions and if there's been any difficulties there and that maybe she could take that into consideration when she gave us her decision and if she would be allowing our file to be reopened is whether or not she would allow us to be patient there ....will let everyone know how this turns out . just wanted to let you know that it was the most demeaning unfair uncalled for unprofessional treatment at a facility of any kind and most of all to be one of mental health behavior by no means is any of this a reflection on Dr. Read. .Amanager myself for 27 years, I felt compelled to let the public as well as the facility itself made aware of how their patients returning for care had been made to feel and for the doctors to know that something this simple could really cause some back steps on progress that they had helped people take steps forward. I would've wanted to know ?myself in my situation so that I would know better how to get with my colleagues and my employees and address these things to help them have better public relations skillset after all these are the places we go for help. not to give as complexes about oneself and need help.

Dr. Crews is an amazing doctor. Their facility is highly equipped and he also treats adults. After…read morea horrific hospital experience, which resulted in negligence, I called Dr. Crews and in the first two minutes upon meeting him, he had sourced the problem and immediately began what should have happened during that hospital stay. I knew we had found the right doctor. I have never seen a doctor work as quickly and effectively and never had a doctor call me from his personal cell to follow up and let us know to call him directly if we needed anything. He treated us like we were his family, and to me that's a rare quality to find.

This could have been better but no one told me that I should have fasted before I came for my…read moreappointment. That was an easy catch from the person making the appointment who took my call. Before I arrived a followup phone call the day before would have been adequate to ensure that I was fasting but for me to drive all the way from Savannah is frustrating. The rest of the visit seemed okay but the main reason I drove here has been wasted so hard to recover from that. I will need to come back and I think that I will. The receptionist could have been new and that is why I wasn't warned to fast but still a significant reason that I didn't give out a five star rating.
