These guys are just wonderful. Old timey butchers who are also good businessmen. They know their cuts and will cut anything you want if you give them the noice they need. Thanksgiving two years ago, it was the only place in Savannah that knew what a crown roast was and how to do one! That used to be standard knowledge in meat markets. Truth is, we no longer have meat markets. We have folks who unwrap frozen cuts, package them and put them out. We do have two chain markets that try but they just aren't the same. read more

It's conveniently located off Hwy 17, right across from Southwest Middle School. Parking is easy with a small lot out front and an additional lot in the back. They offer a huge selection of meats, everything from deli cuts, bacon, homemade sausages, beef, pork, and chicken, to a nice variety of local seafood. You'll also find a small section of local eggs and produce, and trust me, the eggs are far better than anything you'll get at the grocery store. For families or anyone who meal preps, the meat bundles are a fantastic deal. They come fresh or frozen and can really stretch your budget if you're cooking for four or more. I love this meat market! This was my first visit. The staff and market itself left a wonderful impression. Ogeechee Meat Market is in a new building. The old building is directly across from Southwest Middle School. The new building is a little further down the road. You cannot miss it. The building is black and red and has a barn facade. It has plenty of parking. The inside is clean and crisp. This is exactly what I love to see in a meat market. It is easy to maneuver. The meat counter is to the back of the building and spans most of it. But you can find more than meat at the market. There is produce, local honey, premade meals and more. The staff were incredibly helpful. They were all eager to help. We picked up four Italian sausages(they make their own sausage), a pound of bacon, four chicken breasts, two of their hamburgers and a pound of ground sirloin for sixty dollars! Their meats are Georgia or locally sourced, when possible and ask for the organic products. They also have seafood. We enjoyed everything. I love that there is a butcher close by that can make specific cuts you like. I will be back! Oh and the robot bringing the meat to the register for us was lots of fun!!! read more

So this was my first time visiting this market and I like what I seen the customer service could be more friendlier. Also I purchased a couple of things and when I went to check out, my total came to like 170 something dollars and I was like in my mind I know I didn't get a good bit of stuff, but I don't think it was that much but anyway I went ahead and paid it and the trip home. I just couldn't help but thinking in the back of my mind that I was overcharged so when I got home, I added up all my items about two times just to make sure I doublecheck myself and I was correct. My total came to like 120 something dollars with tax so I was definitely overcharged by 50 something dollars so they got them a nice little tip our bonus and I don't appreciate that being overcharged. The customer service lady cashier lady. She could've paid more attention to what she was doing cause she was running her mouth and just type it up stuff, they don't have where you can scan the items and a ring up like that like in a traditional grocery store so you can see how much stuff is the they type in the prices on their register so definitely I believe she intentionally overcharge me for whatever reason, I don't know so note to future customers pay attention to what you're getting and the prices and add it up in your head so by the time you go to check out, you can know about how much your item total is gonna be so these people don't be lying in their pockets with 50+ dollars read more

The steaks are really good. not a fan of the sausage they use way too much sage. The customer service is really horrible. I waited for 5 minutes for someone to help me. They were all too busy talking to each other mind you I was the only one in the store. After I purchased my steak I decided to get pasta salad. The person helping me was very rude. I asked him to mix both pasta salads together. No problem!!! but when I asked for pimento cheese, shit hit the fan. Not only did he give me a nasty look, he slammed the pasta salad on the counter and it hit the floor. At that point I didn't want anything and walked out. read more

You drive up and they load it - no contact ! The quality of the meat is unbeatable. It's packaged however you would like too. They offer other items as well. I have been searching for a Savannah area meat market that combines customer service with quality meat at a reasonable cost. Coming from Bowling Green Ohio, we had a wonderful family owned business, The Belleville Brothers Meat Market. Finally I have found a top notch local meat market. The place is spacious with a good selection of fresh cut chops and steaks. The meat looks very fresh. I bought 2 Filet Mignons. My wife said they were the best she had ever had at home. I also bought 1/4 pound hot dogs. My wife asked for a bite since she is not a hotdog eater. After 1 bite she wanted 1 for herself. I suggested she take her temperature cause she has never asked me to make her a hotdog. Again, she said these are the best hotdogs she has ever had. They were very good. I still give the hotdog crown to Tony Packos in Toledo Ohio, (Corporal Klinger from Mash if you remeber that show). I also bought some slices of rare roast beef that was marbled with fat that was very flavorful. The brown eggs were fresh but a little on the small size. The market had some frozen options like beef hearts and liver. The shrimp and fish looked fresh as did the chicken. The selection of homemade sausage was amazing. Having just gone shopping our freezer is pretty full so I didn't try those items. There were large containers of fresh beef jerky. Ogeechee Meat Market offers some family package options. Different combinations of steaks, chicken, beef. It looks like you save around 15-20% or so ordering in bulk. The prices started around $50 and go up to include 1/4 , 1/2 and whole beef packages. If you have yet to make it to the Ogeechee Meat Market, you are missing out. Fish, steak, chicken, pork, sausage, you name it and they've got it. The filet mignon pieces are perfectly sized and worth your time and money. They have about a dozen types of sausage. My favorite is the vidalia onion sausage - so simple yet flavorful. You can try maple sausage, bacon and cheese sausage, polish sausage, spicy sausage, and more. Do you love stuffed jalapenos? Then you must grab a few from here! They have some sausage inside of them and are covered with bacon. I am not a huge fan of jalapenos, but these are so good that you will come back begging for more, just like I did. They also sell large stuffed mushrooms. I have not tried them, but I will report back when I do! It will likely be loud and crowded in there, but don't worry, they've got enough butchers to serve you. And they are mighty pleasant while you make your pick. My wife and I recently moved to the area and was pleasantly surprised when we walked into Ogeechee Meat Market. You see, we always had a butcher to go to at our former residence. When we walked thru the doors at this establishment we felt as though we died and went to heaven. Clean, warm and friendly atmosphere with all cuts of meat at the right price point. This place was amazing! The service here was fast and friendly. Everyone so eager to help you get something. They have many option from free range chickens, grass fed beef cuts, fresh not frozen seafood, smoked meats, cured meats, and an array of sides in the fridges. So many interesting things in this store. I personally only eat chicken and fish, so i grabbed some chicken breast and grilled them up today! They were juicy and tasted like some good hens! I can tell the difference in lower quality chicken. I will be trying the salmon tonight and they have garlic chicken sausages which look amazing! I'll be grilling those tomorrow! The service is awesome. Hubby loves the variety of sausage available and the meat is very good. I found certain items, such as turkey wings, to be really overpriced but this is a Meat Market after all and the work is done on the premises. So... at least you know you're receiving quality meat. Probably the best fresh meat shop in the area. They have several different varieties of sausages and all kinds of meats from duck to seafood. We got some steak and mushrooms stuffed with meat and both were excellent. They make some jerky in house- I got the Korean BBQ and it was good. They guy let us taste some before we bought it, which was nice. People working here are friendly and really helpful. However since its fresh meat, the prices are a little high but you get what you pay for. read more

OMG....I found out today that I've never truly had beef jerky before. The jerky offered at OMM comes in several flavors (chipotle ranch, OG, teriyaki). I got a half pound of chipotle ranch and original (OG). I IMMEDIATELY regret not buying more. LITERALLY, the BEST beef jerky I've ever tasted. So my buddy grabbed some at least 10 oz filets and they were amazing. Cook was awesome but to meat quality stood out. This is a real deal meat market, they have big slabs of meat and you say I want this and they say "How thick?!". Living here 2 years now I've noticed there are so many hidden gems. This is our second year preordering a smoked turkey from Ogeechee Meat Market( its delicious and so moist, hence why we came back) but it's my first time stepping foot into the store since last year my husband picked up the turkey and I had preordered it over the phone. To tell you I've been missing out is an understatement. I've read nothing but great things about this meat market but being it is a little drive from Ft Stewart I'm embarrassed to say it took me this long to discover it in person. The first thing I noticed was how friendly the staff are and how clean this place is, both are great signs if you want to earn repeat customers. They have a great selection of fresh cuts and even a little selection of seafood. What drew me in was their selection of fresh sausages, we ended up taking 6 home in addition to some of their fresh pimento cheese and OMG we were blown away. My favorites have to be the bacon cheddar sausage and the jalapeño pimento cheese, these 2 things will make me come back time and time again. This place also offers different preserves which were all so tempting to buy- from your traditional peach preserves to pumpkin butter and some other Georgia berries. However, for all the parents out there the best part about shopping here is they even offer a little play corner for the kids to keep them occupied while we owe and aww over the selection. read more

If you're looking for the ole time butcher shop, great customer service and a friendly atmosphere, you've hit the jackpot. I've been shopping at Ogeechee Meat Mkt about one year, not once have I been disappointed. Aged beef, the best fresh sausage I've enjoyed since leaving my hometown as a young adult, fresh chickens that never dishearten. Parking is easy and the store is located off of a main hwy which makes finding, traveling to and from, extremely accessible. I love this store and am unaware of anyone shopping there, not happy. We pay a little higher prices than Kroger but it is like comparing apples to rocks, Kroger being the rock. Happy shopping! read more
