Okay I usually never write poor reviews, but my experience left me very shocked at the lack of customer service. First of all, I understand that this is a SCHOOL and is about learning their skill. I had a full highlight and hair cut/blowdry done on my hair and after nearly 4 hours of being at the salon I was ready to leave, but thought my hair looked decent enough for what I paid. (I do believe you get what you pay for) My stylist, was perfectly sweet, but when I got home and pulled my hair back in a pony tail my regrowth from the front (lining my face) were still very evident. The blonde was noticeable on the left side of my head and not on the right. I even saw my future mother in-law that same day and she said "Oh, you didn't get your hair done today?" The back was brighter, but my regrowth in the front was not concealed at all. I am not at all new to highlights either. I have been highlighting my hair for years and I stylists should know how to place the highlights to blend with regrowth. Since I understood that that is probably a learned skill I politely made another appointment for it to be corrected just around my face. I was not requesting by any means for the entire service to be redone. I have worked in the service industry and I know there are people always fishing for something for free, and I assure you that is not my intention whatsoever. I am an honest and hardworking person and simply expected that they would want a customer to leave fully satisfied. When I went for my appointment, I briefly spoke with the instructor while I waited for a stylist, and she seemingly agreed that my regrowth was apparent and even apologized that they did not check it before I left yesterday. Well, the stylist came back and informed me that they wanted to charge me $25, which is the full price of a partial highlight. Every salon I had ever been to has expressed to come back for a correction if you are not completely satisfied, keep in mind I've never had to. I feel sorry for the students here because they will have customers in the future that are unsatisfied whether it is warranted or not, and they will believe that is acceptable to charge for a full price service for their mistake. It is poor business practice at this institution, and I would not recommend it. I would of been perfectly understanding and satisfied had they given me a few foils surrounding my face. For this type of practice, they should be asking for volunteers and providing these services for free. I was looking forward to a pleasant experience ( I have been to a different location before many times without any problems) and instead left disappointed with lack of customer service, and uneven hair that needs professional attention. read more

It started with a Groupon for a haircut. I decided I would give it a try to try to save some money (wow, salons in Houston are expensive!!) The first time I went was great. The girl who did my cut (Vanessa) did a really good job, she was professional and friendly and I enjoyed the experience. The second time, I decided to go in for some color. I called ahead and set up an appointment with Vanessa. When I got to the salon I waited for my stylist to be ready and then out walked someone else!! Wait a minute, I asked for Vanessa. Then they informed me that she wasn't there that day. I didn't want to be rude to the girl, but they should have told me as soon as I got there, or called me to let me know that Vanessa wasn't there! I Ended up being there for FOUR hours, during which my stylist barely made conversation with me (she was much more interested in talking to her friends), she had zero confidence in her abilities and was constantly asking the instructor for help, and when I asked where she was going after she finished beauty school (meaning which salon) she said Nursing school! I had asked for a haircut in addition to my color but since it took so long I had to leave before they could do the cut. I was STARVING and had to get my kids from school. I had gone in at 10:30 AM and was racing out the door at 3! Time #3- I had to get that haircut, so I went back and made sure I got a different stylist. She did an OK job, but once I got home I noticed that the bangs were messed up time #4- I went back in the same week to get the bangs fixed from my previous visit and they charged me! Who does that?? You don't charge to fix a mistake!! The LAST Straw- I don't know what I was thinking to try again. I called ahead and made an appointment with Vanessa, I guess I figured that if I could get an appointment with her I could make it through the holidays with good hair. On the day of my appointment I was supposed to be there at noon, but the meeting I had before that ended early so I called in to see if I could come at 11 instead. When I called they put me on hold and then Vanessa came on the phone. She told me that there was a mistake, she is working the front desk and not doing hair, so they scheduled me for tomorrow. I told her to just forget it, they have screwed up way too many times and I am DONE. I ended up going to one of the high priced salons, and it was totally worth it for fabulous service and gorgeous results! I am a student at Ogle School Stafford, Tx. Coming from someone who is at Ogle Stafford Monday-Friday 9-5 I can tell you that this school is not only extremely unprofessional, it is unorganized and instead of using the 14k/student tuition on equipment replacements they would rather down size and have their students go without. If you are looking for higher education in the beauty industry I would highly suggest you go to a different beauty school such as Aveda; my classmates and I have heard wonderful things and wish we would have taken the time to research and decided on a better school. Administration is very quick to be argumentative, confrontational and for a lack of better words, ghetto. The steamer equipment we are given is constantly breaking, so instead of upgrading the equipment quality they are planning to entirely take away the steamers and replace them with towel warmers. Removal of steamers drastically effects the experience of our clients; but in the eyes of Ogle Stafford they would rather be cheap than consider client satisfaction. Overall I would not recommend Ogle Stafford because anyone interested in attending this school can do far better than this! Please take heed to this warning, I would hate for anyone else to find themselves in this terrible position. I would like to know where the money is being used? UPDATE~ NOW THE STUDENTS HAVE TICKET RECEIPTS THAT HAVE TO BE SIGNED BY THEM, THE CUSTOMER & THE SCHOOL & THAT IS GREAT. NOW THE STUDENTS HAVE TO DISCLOSE WHAT THE PRICES ARE UPFRONT & THE STUDENTS TAKE THE CUSTOMER TO THE FRONT WITH THE RECEIPT TO PAY. THIS WAY EVERYTHING IS PROPERLY DISCLOSED. HOPEFULLY THIS NEW PROCESS WILL PRODUCE HONEST TRANSACTIONS!! The facility itself is nice. The students skill levels are about as decent as the rest of the cosmetology schools in houston. One Major Important ISSUE is Make Very SURE You have a Definite Price for the services You will be receiving, because the students will INCREASE the Prices upon completion to Prices being paid to licensed cosmetologist in area salons. The students obviously Do NOT realize that they are in school learning & do Not have Licenses yet, so anybody being serviced by them is taking a chance that the service being provided is really Not on the Necessary Professional level yet. That means their prices Need to reflect their skill level which is Not the Highest. The students don't want the customers to Pay the School at the front cash register because they know then they will Only be receiving the tip & they do deserve tips because they try to do a decent job. FYI if You Do Not give them a tip they will be very pissed. So to Prevent being dissatisfied & annoyed make sure to discuss Price & Agree before You do Any business with the students at Ogle School in Stafford. Scamming customers is Not the way to force tips or build a clientele. Management Needs to make Sure the Students are being honest. When the students go out & get their own salons they can charge prices that reflect rookie licensed cosmetologist. The students concentration Needs to be based on Learning everything they can, so they can deliver the best salon services when they eventually become Licensed. I spent so much of my weekend here. :/ I went in on a Friday evening for a simple trim and lowlights. We picked out the color and got started. I sat for 45 mins with the color on to let it set. After rinsing and drying we both noticed you couldn't even see them. I was upset, I had been there so long and had a party to go to the night after. They rescheduled me for the next morning for a redo though. I went in a finally felt I was in good hands Kim P. talked me into doing a balage (sp?) instead of low lights and I am still thrilled with the results. Best bet on this place is to make sure to schedule with the right person. Its hit or miss. Will be back to see Kim in 6 weeks and will probably be changing this to a 5 star review. This place is a great place to get inexpensive services. The best student they had was Regina and she's graduated. I appreciate the service for the price but they lose points BIG TIME on how unprofessional the environment is. The students are often catty, and will bicker about each other. The teachers don't often give enough time to look through what a student is doing until the customer is ready to leave. They need to brush up on their professional environment. Terrible!!!! Stay away I understand that its a hair school. But I went in for a very simple procedure. I just wanted my hair dyed blue black. Well the color came out fine. But they were so careless. I have black stains all over my face. They are very visible. Not only that they ruined my shirt as well. I have a big black stain on the back of my shirt. To top it off when I left the salon no instructor check to see how the services came . This place doesn't care. on top of everything I was there from 7pm-10:26pm and I just left with my hair not even fully dried because I needed to go somewhere smh I called to complain and nothing was done. This was my third time getting a facial and my first time trying Ogle. The check-in process was easy. My esthetician was Rose. She was very professional and assessed my skincare needs before starting. I think I got the signature facial. It was amazing. I was so relaxed. I know I dozed off to sleep (and probably started snoring) several times. My face feels soft and supple and my skin looks clear and bright. Ms. Rose demonstrated great skill and professionalism for a student. With the exception of the constant chatter and laughter I could hear outside my service area during my treatment, my facial service was definitely equivalent to services I have received in full service spas. read more

Of course I was a little nervous my first time going to the beauty school, because I didn't know if someone would be able to handle my thick natural hair. I typically maintain my own hair, but I needed my ends trimmed badly. I blindly made an appointment and was set up with Leona. I'm glad I was set up with her. She clipped my ends and my hair has been so much easier to manage. I booked my second appointment on the spot and now I'm rocking a beautiful twist out. I already have my 3rd appointment booked with Leona and I plan to get a perm rod set. Leona is nice and really takes your hair preferences into consideration the whole time she's doing your hair. I absolutely LOVE this place! Brittany Runge is the best! I took a wig i had bought as inspiration and told her i would love it if she could replicate it for me, now keep in mind i did not go in there with the expectations of it looking exactly the same. My hair was a dark brown with a BLUE dip dye at the end. She was so determined to get the last bits of green out of my hair that she told me to come back the next day so she could perfect it, FREE of any other charges. All in all i ended up paying 70$ and tipped her 20$ My hair is just what i wanted and feels great! read more

DO NOT GET YOUR CHILD'S HAIR DONE HERE. On August 16th, I brought my 5 year old to the Stafford location to have her hair washed and braided. I also wanted the stylist to put in one of those little curly ponytails for kids, which I bought with me. We were originally scheduled to see Yasmine who decided that the perfect time to go MIA was at the time of our appointment. So the manager scrambled to find someone else to do my daughter's hair. We were assigned LaToya, who had done my daughter's hair once before when we decided to add hair to her braids. The braids begin to unravel one day after getting it done and we had to take them down. Even though I was annoyed, I didn't make an issue of it because I figured she was still learning. It's important that I note that my daughter has Social Anxiety Disorder can't express her pain and hurt in front of others in a way that other kids can. So at the 8/16 appt when I went back there and asked if she was ok, she didn't say anything but nodded "yes". Ten minutes into the drive she was crying and twisting in her car seat. She just kept saying "hurt, mommy. Hurt!" I thought maybe LaToya did the braids too tight and she did indeed do them too tightly (little bumps started forming around her scalp about 5 days in). Fast forward to today 8/27. I went to take her braids out and I noticed that every time I touched the ponytail, she would flinch and cry. When she went to sleep, I unraveled the ponytail and the place where the ponytail combs were had my child's scalp BLOODY. LaToya had dug those combs so deep into my child's SCALP that blood was caked on my child's hair and her scalp was pussed! I literally had to remove the combs with the sensitive touch of a surgeon as not to her hurt anymore than necessary to take them out. To say I am livid would be kind. I am beyond furious and plan to take this issue to a much higher level than the Stafford salon. This is UNACCEPTABLE. Update (9/3/14): I was refunded what I paid for the services as well as the tip I paid (which I also requested). I was also offered free services for my daughter and myself, which I declined. The mgr of the salon did apologize and tried to make it right, which I appreciated. But I would have liked to hear an apology from the girl that caused the damage. read more

I had a bad experience with my former stylist and ended up having to cut all of my hair off. I called the salon to find out if someone would be able to do my hair and was referred to a student by the name of Tony. He ended up cutting my hair and I loved it. Ogle Stafford has employed some of the most amazing instructors that I have ever encountered. We get the opportunity to learn so much more than just the basic cosmetology requirements. Cosmetology schools are always going to be what you put in is what you get out of it. Most schools teach you what it takes to pass state board and Ogle goes above and beyond that. We are a family here and we love, bicker with each other, and learn together. Anyone who has something negative to say did not put forth the effort it takes to succeed. Got my hair re-twisted today. It's a really long process and after 2 hours the Teacher asked if I mind if she had another student help, absolutely not lol because that meant I would be finish sooner. Well I'm happy to say the second student was faster then the first and that made me very happy. The teacher thanked me and offered me an opportunity to leave feedback about the student service I had just received. I thought this was very interesting because I have never been asked this before it kind of made me feel like I was really teaching the student as well. I was very honest when I told her the first student was rough and slow but nothing I couldn't handle, the second Jasmine was a bit talkative but I really didn't mind the faster her mouth moved the faster her hands moved lol. This was the best I could give considering I shall not be going back again. If I had given a straight 5 stars no one would read this and be warned. The work is very good with very knowledgeable teachers. The problem was I wasted 3 trips because their booking system is bad. When one books an appointment the student is often not there. Yes. They just never showed up that day. Nobody calls. Neither the student nor the establishment will call to let you know not to make the journey. In fact it seems the establishment often doesn't know the student won't be in. It seems they could be there in the morning and decide to take the afternoon off and establishment won't know until an appointment shows up and asks for the student. This happened three times so I went elsewhere. Read my reviews of all the places I have tried to date. Work was good. They simply need to make the students responsible for calling their appointments. If you are researching this school as a possible educational investment, I would not recommend The Ogle School located in stafford Tx. It has been a disappointment since the second week of attending but thanks to my personal commitment to my educational goal I am prevailing all the pitfalls this school managed to consistently maintain. The student to instructor ratio is non compliant with TDLR Regulations, which states 25 students per instructor. Keep in mind there are two programs so research both carefully. Due to fear of being persecuted by certain staff member I cannot be to detailed. They mislead by stating you will be taught certain things such as make up, microdermabrasion, or eye lash tabbing but in fact they do not. You will have to invest more $$$ to be certified in these areas should you wish to be able to perform these services but it was never mentioned and is implied the VERY EXPENSIVE program cost would cover. The verbiage is vague on the recruitment interview so be smart ask " will my tuition not only give me a license but will I be certified to actually perform the specific service after I graduate"? If this school has been around for 40 odd years then I think it's a lame excuse for them to say " we are only a year old , so they are experiencing growing pains". By now they should have the new school opening process mastered and not have lack of instructors or supplies to be able to perform a service. Attending this school felt like a punishment as if i committed some horrid behavioral act and this was the repercussion. One staff member walks around like a warden should you dare miss a day of school, never mind the fact we were all paying a lot of $$$$ to attend this school. At times if you get busy with a client and not take a "mandatory" 15 minute break you will be barked at even though you were providing customer services to your client. This rule is selectively enforced , certain individuals that missed school consistently or were even suspended would cheat the system by not taking the two breaks but would never get counseled. The hard working dedicated students that never missed school or abuse the system were reprimanded. I could state more but I think this is suffice to give CAUTION TO FUTURE students considering this school. read more

I was referred by a friend and made an appointment to see Ciara S. to get my hair cut in a short pixi style and colored. Upon arrival the reception area was very busy, but they were responsive and professional. After sitting in the front area for a few minutes, my stylist arrived. She sat me in her styling chair and asked what i wanted and made suggestions on the type of conditioner and color i should receive. I showed her a picture i cut from a magazine of the length and style that i wanted. She cut my hair, and reassured me along the way. She was very professioal and knowledgeable (the other students also asked her for assistance on occasion). She had other clients come in but i never felt like i was forgotten, as she checked on me often. In the end, i LOVED my new cut. It was styled perfectly, just like the magazine picture. Once finished, i was escorted to the reception area to pay and was also pleasantly surprised at how affordable the entire service was. Definitely will make an appointment to go back to Ciara S. to have my hair redone by her. She is a very good stylist and would recommend others to see her to have their hair done!!! read more

This place is great. I had an appointment for a facial and went right in with no waiting. The young lady who did my facial was very professional, explained products and other information. She also explained what she was doing as we moved along in the facial process. It was a great facial, a great place - so clean, so organized, so wonderful. Danita Woods was my daughter's stylist today. She was amazing! My daughter has mid back length 3c natural hair and Danita was gentle and careful as she detangled and blowdried her hair. Her flatironed hair looks like silk. I've been searching for someone who'd take their time caring for natural hair and I think I have found her! Danita should teach others her method and technique, that's for sure. I brought in my own detangler, by Mizani and a huge afro rake, which she happily used. (It would be a good idea for Ogle to stock that product and those combs.) The instructor even took care of a discount that needed to be applied to my account without hassling me. Now that's great customer service. Make sure to ask for her, you'll be happy you did. I'll definitely be back with my son and his mid back braids. :) read more
