I wish I could give a 1/2 star rating! 4 stars is a bit high for my experience, but I'd rate it a solid 3.5. While my regular stylist was on vacation, I was looking around for a new salon to try. A friend recommended the Ogle School based on it's location (very visible from Hwy 59) and price. After reading several reviews, I was willing to give it a try, but regularly reminded myself that the stylists were all students - don't set your sights *too* high. However, I was really thinking about the students' skills, and wasn't prepared for the unprofessional environment this created. My Ogle stylist was really friendly. Overall, the experience was fine and I'm basically happy with my haircut. However, I won't rush to return based on several things that came up during my visit: -No visible sanitizing solution on any of the workstations. At one point, a stylist working across from mine dropped her shears, then simply picked them up and resumed cutting her client. I can only hope that tools are sanitized at another location (in the back?) between clients. -My stylist seemed really unorganized. It took over 20 minutes to get started, because she kept running back and forth to get supplies. At one point, she mentioned she had finished up another client "3 seconds" before I came in (I guess no sanitizing in the back) and was upset that the client didn't tip her. Not my first choice of conversation topics. -While my stylist was cutting my hair, she was talking to a colleague/classmate about how dull her shears were getting - literally while she was using them to cut my hair. Thankfully, the colleague gave her another pair to switch out. -My stylist really did have great hair. I asked if she colored and cut her own, which led to a conversation about the different techniques she did on clients. She wasn't shy about discussing how much she didn't like to do haircuts .. while she was cutting my hair. A bit awkward. -My cut took nearly two hours - nearly twice as long as any professional experience I've had. I completely understand that this is a learning process for students. As long as a client keeps in mind that students are growing, both in skill and professionalism, the experience should be a good one! read more

I have had so many problems on and off over the years, you think I would have learned my lesson. Ugh. Losing your hair is a very hard hard lesson so hopefully i can spare some other poor souls from losing theirs (Aveda isn't great but it is a heck of a lot better than this). So I went in two days before my vacation to Florida. I asked for some low lights. No problem right? Keep in mind, my hair was in good shape coming in, just wanted a few subtle low lights to break it up and add some depth since I have thin hair. I also told them I don't like to be dark around my face. So they pulled a much too large area around my bangs and front (I thought it seemed funny but heck, I don't do hair so I figured they knew what they were doing??) and clipped that off, and didn't touch any of that. When I looked in the mirror I was absolutely dumbfounded at how stupid this looked. Well, they said they would fix it (should have RAN) but I would have to come back ..they couldn't fix it that evening :( . (25 minute drive from my house/25 min back) WELLLLLLLL, I could not come back until after my vacation -not time. ARGGGH. So, I come back after vacation for them to fix it by asking them for some lowlights in the front (to match the sides??) and a few highlights (which I paid for) on the sides to give even more depth. Now mind you, I paid for them to put the highlights, whcih wouldn't have been a problem, had the dummy who did it not left it in waaaaaaaaaay too long and ended up not only STRIPPING (and I mean STRIPPED) my hair, but it took four and a half hours to do this..WT??? Yes, I said four and half hours. Not only that but this person covered up ALL THE LOWLIGHTS I had just paid for the previous time, which had been the only thing they DID RIGHT. So, me begin the glutton for punishment that I am, I go along with them saying they would once again "fix it". Can you believe (and they said this is someone about the GRADUATE) this third person messed it up even more than the other two I have sooo many demarcations ...and grey roots (The talked me into paying for them to do a "retouch" so that should not have been a problem, but because of all the BLEACH or whatever they call it, (blondore?) I have more gray and stripped platinum then before, not to mention that now my hair, (whats left of it after all the breakage and worst haircut ever ( i am not even kidding, this is ridiculous) IT IS FALLING OUT. So, 120 dollars into this all I can do is wait and chop it all off and start fresh. And that is why I am writing...please do yourself a favor. Go elsewhere. I went back in May and there a girl name Stephanie put the wrong color on my hair is want something like a pretty burgundy with highlights the way I should her in a picture I had. Well come to find out .. I was a dark red head with gold highlights, I sat there for 4 .17 hours (6-10:17 pm). I was so upset I told her do not blow dry my hair just let me go. My hair faded within a month I went on 6/24/2016 and Elizabeth did my hair i. I wanted another color like an Auburn since my hair was messed up. We'll she recommended some kind of red, I wanted partial dark high lights, we'll nope after sitting there for 5 hours I walked out looking like a rainbow of reds..one of the instructor knew it was messed up and told me to return on Tuesday 6/28/2016 Dalia well I did I was told to pick a medium color and I did and gold partial highlights AGAIN... after sitting there for 5.46 hours my hair is different colors...I'm not upset at Dalia cause she tried to fix a mistake that was done by 2 girls..BUT NEITHER OF THE 3 GAVE ME THE HIGHLIGHTS I WAS NEED TO SHOW. these are girls that are going to other Salons and yes they are students but we are not manican dolls.. to much tim÷ wasted on to many clients is wasted... This was my first and LAST experience here! I went in for a color (a touch up on my hair) and trim on my ends. My hair is naturally dark brown, but has been red for the past year. Anyone that has dyed their hair red before or who does hair professionally knows that red fades fast. I went in the salon with the intentions of having my entire head dyed ONE Color (that includes my roots). I also showed the stylist a picture of the shade of red I would have liked to achieved. The shade of red I requested had to involve me lightening (bleaching) my hair in order to get the shade of red I wanted. This was a 30 min process. My hair was lightened way too much which resulted my hair turning into a orangish blonde color. The stylist then applies the red color over it. This was a 15 min process. After 15 mins of waiting for the color to process she proceeds to rinse and washes it out. The results were TRAGIC! My hair was still the orange blonde color from the bleach. She then goes to her instructor to inform her of the issue. Her instructor tells her to put a "filler" in my hair which is pretty much the same colors she originally stripped my hair of with the bleach. So after adding this my hair finally catches red, but it isn't the red I wanted. It was a BRIGHT orange red. I looked like SUPER SONIC! So then she puts a deep conditioner in my hair and have me sit under the dryer for about 10mins. After she half ass blow drys my hair....I finally take the initiative of blowing drying the rest of my hair. Once it is dry she barely trims my ends and bangs. My hair was never flat ironed or styled. I tied my hair up as it was when I first walked in. I asked to speak to her instructor bc I did not want to pay for this horrible color. The instructor came over and made it seem as though it was my fault my hair was the way it was because of the initial picture I showed the stylist before we started. However my hair color was NOTHING LIKE the picture and my roots were NOT DYED like I requested. I still had to pay for these services and the instructor offered for me to schedule a redo for no charge for the next up coming week! HELLO! YOU ALL messed up my hair so why would I let you guys touch my hair again? ALSO IM NOT WALKING AROUND LIKE THIS THE ENTIRE WEEKEND YET ALONG THE FOLLOWING WEEK! I DO have a professional job and the way she left my hair was unacceptable! She never offer to compensate me with products or anything of that nature for this horrible experience. She also did not apologize because I wasn't satisfied. I thought this was very RUDE! It's hair school I get that, but if these ladies are scared or have not one clue of what they are doing...DON'T allow them to PLAY in people's hair! Also I was very annoyed of how long I was in there! I got there at noon and did not leave til 5:30! And my hair was screwed up at that and I had dye all over the back of my neck and ears. I even got my hair cut at a bargain because I didn't know about the new rule for long hair so that was a plus! Amanda was very talkative, nice, and actually talked like she wanted to talk to me. I painstakingly downloaded this app just to leave a review. YELP folks, it would be nice not to have to go through that, however back to my review, I frequently visit my family in the Sugarland area. While visiting a few weeks ago we decided to go shopping in the Foutain Lake strip mall. when we got out of our car heading to a music store we noticed these beautiful girls with flyers in their hands standing on the side walk. they were so bubbly and appeared to be talking about what was on their brite orange paper. Although we were not very far from them, we could hear this very loud lady dressed in all black direct the girls which we found out later was the Instructor at The Ogle School and they were students praticing Esthetic and cosmetology. needless to say, our curiosity got the best of us when we heard discount! after all it is the american way :). As we approached the hot pink table we were able to read the sign. they were having a sale on hair and skin products. but they were not just selling products they were teaching people how to use them and recomending skin products. I was told I needed to try the Age Smart for my aging skin. I didnt like hearing that but it was true :)and sebastian for my hair. We liked these girls so much we were there 2 hours, they had great customer service. we left with a awesome Shampoo and Blow out for less then $20, a great deal on 2 bottles of dry shampoo, service menus and hair appointments for the next time im back in the Houston area. We had a great experience that started outside and lasted the entire time we were there. read more

Pardon my French but this school is bullshit. I didn't even make it to phase two. I wasn't going to waste any more of my money here. First off, my teacher Mrs .Valerie Young is very unprofessional. She was constantly telling us about her personal life. Everything from a toothache that she had for several months to her pathetic husband that she may or may not divorce. Who cares? Why is this my business? Is this what I'm paying for? I went to Mrs. Young, the school director, and I even went to Mrs. Moore but nothing was done. I don't even think they said anything to her because the following week she was talking about her business and showing us pictures of her sister in law that she's feuding with on Facebook. I mean really? The thing that sucks is I know more about her pathetic life and a few of the other teachers because she likes to gossip, than I know about cosmetology. I lasted 5 weeks and after nothing happened when I complained I withdrew. Mrs. Young(director) called and tried to talk me into wasting more money at that sorry ass school but my mind was already made up by then I gave that school a fair chance and it was a horrible experience. Now I am attending Paul Mitchell. It's a little more expensive and my hours didn't transfer but I'm at a school that is very professional, the students follow the damn dress code, they aren't constantly talking back to the teachers, or arguing with each other. In case any one is wondering.... This school is "ghetto" so I should've known I didn't have any business being there in the first place. I was never one to really believe the stereotypes I see on television but I know now there is some truth to them. Leaving that school was the best decision I made!!! read more

I have got to stop being a cheapskate. the only reason I went in the first place was because I had a groupon. I go there and found out that it didn't work on a saturday. I decided to go ahead and get a haircut. The girl had no clue how to cut hair but with an instructors help gave me a cut. It turned out alright even though they couldn't get my hair like I asked even though I actually took in a wig that was exactly like I wanted it cut. So, I went back for the second time to use my groupon for color. The girl did a good job on color. She did a good job on the cut with no help from an iinstructor. Then I made the mistake of going back.The same stylist, through a misunderstanding, cut my hair way too short, and I freaked out a little. Then this crazy male instructor came over and gave me the Edward Scissorhands treatment and literally cut my hair where it was about 2 inches shorter on one side than the other. I don't think he had ever cut hair before. The student was so much better than him but he wouldn't give the scissors back to her. When I saw it, I couldn't even believe what this idiot did to my hair. Then the director came over and cut it even shorter in an attempt to fix the stupid thing he did. I am still waiting for my hair to grow back. Every day, I look in the mirror and cringe because this is truly the worse hair cut I have ever had. I am not that picky about my hair but this is the first time I ever cried over it. Spend some money and go somewhere else I will save some other way but no more discount haircuts for me. read more

Poor customer service, amateur manager. I made a reservation for 5 people to get simple blowouts. I had to take my infant along since I'm from out of town. My family and I waited about 10-15 mins in the lobby waiting to be called. My stylist came to look for me, sat me down, gave me a quick consultation and walked me over to get my hair washed. It wasn't until then - about 35 mins into the whole process that the manager approached me and told me I couldn't be in the back of the salon with my daughter. While I can understand safety reasons (which is the reason apparently kids aren't allowed back there) I do NOT understand nor appreciate having my time wasted. Why didn't the girls at the front desk let me know that to begin with? I could have easily worked something out with my family had I known before hand. I was pretty much getting kicked out of the salon. When I asked them why I hadn't been told earlier the girl at the front desk said she hadn't seen the stroller (really? I was only in front of your face for 10 mins with a stroller) and then she said she that wasn't her 'job'. No accountability. Guess what? As the first person customers see- that IS your job! Let's not forget you are in the customer service field! When I asked the manager why everyone waited until I was about to get my hair washed to let me know she said she was at the bank. I'm sorry, what?! So you mean to tell me that your employees don't know the rules of the salon?! While the manger confronted me she continuously rolled her eyes - I suppose she's also attending managerial classes since clearly she did not manage this situation correctly. I feel bad for these students who have a poor example of a manager and will pick up these bad habits with their own clients. On the bright side, I'm glad I didn't get my hair blown out there my mother and aunt were not happy with how their hair came out and spent nearly 2 hours there!
