I recently moved back into the neighborhood and was hoping the store would have new owners. No such luck. Before I moved out of state I used to take my clothes there. They melted a $1,000 dress that I picked up the day before I moved and had the NERVE to try and charge me for the rest of my order and blamed me for the dress saying...'You and these fancy dresses, we don't do this material'. Then why did they not read the label????? Disgusting ethics. I just popped back in hoping I would have a neighborhood dry cleaner but no such luck. And it now reeks of smoke. Dropped off two pairs of jeans to shorten the length. Alterations, which they do. I've had alterations done before here. I gave them the length, wrote it down on a piece of paper, same for both pairs. Come back in a week they said. I did. No pants. Come back next week. I did. No pants. Come back another week. Still no pants. You get the picture. Four weeks later, they tell me the pants are done. Come get them. I did. No pants. I said at this point that I was going to charge them for lost merchandise. They'll call, someone told me. No one does. Eventually, my pants are found. I pick them up on Clifton Blvd, bring them home and guess what? They're shorter but not to the measurements I asked for which means the pants are essentially useless. I need another tailor. Never, never will I go back. read more

This is a nice little joint that's easy to go to if you live in Ohio City. I'd like to say that it's 100% local, but it isn't. It's owned by a Cleveland couple who are just as nice as can be. I always chat it up with them about their dog, which is like their baby, and vacations they go on. They send a lot of their work out to get cleaned and altered. I for one, will only go to someone who specializes in tailoring for alterations, but for people looking for a quick hemming, this might work for you. Just make sure you have the measurements before you go in. The prices aren't super cheap, but better than going to Giant Eagle. They also offer same day service on certain items, I believe. They're efficient and they got the stain out of my brand new jacket. I'd say, if you live in the Ohio City area and need dry cleaning done, this is the place to go. I take my clothes here all the time and they are wonderful. Always friendly, fast, efficient, dependable. I wouldn't go anywhere else. And YES, they have a tailor! Her name is Ursula and she's equally wonderful. She is there every day except Mondays, I believe. She's helped me out a number of times including taking my measurements, altering a bridesmaid dress, altering other dresses, hemming, etc. The prices are reasonable, and she's quick. I'm not sure why the reviews of Ohio City Dry Cleaners is so bad, but I really think they're pretty good. I don't really go to dry cleaners often- as, well, I don't really buy many "dry clean only" clothes, but after being matron of honor at a wedding, and after having the best man hand me a drink that proceeded to spill onto my dress (on purpose? who knows), I needed my beautiful bridesmaid dress dry cleaned. They're open until 6pm (not sure what that other Yelp review was saying) and I dropped off my dress no problem- with a charge of $12. It was ready in a few days- and I thought, in my opinion, the dress came out looking brand new and the stains were gone- and I had no issue with it. I didn't think the dry cleaners smelled smoky, there was nothing wrong with my dress, and I feel like the people there were very friendly- I mean, if you treat people with respect, they'll treat you with respect as well. Was it a good price? I thought it was decent- but seeing I don't really get dry cleaning done very often, I'm not a pro- I also don't need my dry cleaners to have a seamstress- so alterations aren't a need on my list (which this dry cleaners didn't have). Overall, I would go here again if I needed dry cleaning- it's a nice local place and it's rather convenient as well. They do a good job. read more

So far, excellent. I live downtown but had to quit going to Bill's Cleaners because they kept retuning my clothes dirty. Ohio City Cleaners has made the trip across the bridge well worth it. The people there are friendly, their prices are reasonable, and we get our clothes back clean. Highly recommend. read more

The one beef I have with this place is that they don't do alterations...not that they HAVE to, being a dry-cleaners and all, but it would be nice to do it all in one spot. They did mention that they have a tailor who comes "every so often and is really expensive." They don't really have a set schedule for this - they had to look on a calendar for me and gave me a date three weeks from the date I inquired about hemming my pants. If it was every other Monday, or, the 15th of every month, or something that that, it would be easier to work my schedule around it. For now, I'll just look elsewhere for alterations. read more

So, I took two dresses here to have tailored. One was a cotton summer dress that only needed an inch off the bottom. The tailor managed to cut so much off that I had to turn it into a shirt. The second dress, a bridesmaids dress, was so poorly hemmed (I find out later that the tailor has never worked with the material- why would you not mention that??) that I had to take it elsewhere because they couldn't fix it. After all of my headaches and running around trying to get the dress fixed, they paid me back for the tailor that had to fix this tailors terrible work. A few days ago, I go to drop off a shirt to have dry cleaned and walk in to find out that Pat, the owner, has BANNED ME from using their services for something that was completely their fault. When I say that to her, Angie replies "It's not our fault, it was the tailors fault." No, Angie, it is your fault because you have hired her to do the work,. I have tried this place a few times. First - the prices are outragously high. Second, I gave them a pair of pants and asked if they could get the stain out. They said yes. When I returned to pick up my pants - they informed me that they couldn't get the stain out. I could deal with that, but they decided to charge me for the service. Here is a news flash - If you can't perform the service you promised, then you can't charge for it. I will be finding a new dry cleaner ASAP! read more

Terrible experience. Being an Ohio CIty resident mindful of the health of local businesses I tried to stick with this place. Not anymore. Prices: relatively higher than the competition. Men's shirts are slightly above $2. Service: mediocre at best -- their 2-day service (eg from Thu to Saturday) is more than double price. The credit card machine is often on the fritz forcing you to look for an ATM if you don't happen to have enough cash with you. Convenience: Awful -- and this was the reason I eventually gave up on the place. What sort of cleaners open only at 9am? And close at 4pm? NEVER AGAIN. Another customer and I showed up 45 min before closing, the doors were locked. We banged on the door until someone came up front. We were told to come earlier next time. What?! We DID come earlier than closing time. Did we need to come in 4 hours before closing for the place to be open? We finally got in, the place stank of cigarette smoke (ok, nitpicking here - most people don't care if their clothes smell like cigarettes). I was charged for a wool coat they did NOT dry clean to get it back. Pinned to the coat was an address where to take the coat to be cleaned. This place does not answer phone calls, nor has an answering machine. On multiple occasions, they leave before closing time. They ripped a sleeve on a garment of mine, and claimed it was not their fault. They smoke cigarettes inside the building, which can reek your clothing. I will never go back here again. read more

Terrible! I read a previous review that said they smoked in the building but figured it was a one off occurrence. Turns out the joke was on me. When I walked in to pick up my dry cleaning, it smelled like someone had been smoking in the building and sure enough when I got home it was obvious. I have a terrible sense of smell due to the fact that I used to smoke 10 years ago, but clean clothes shouldn't smell like smoke. I took them back and they offered to clean them again, but it would take 5 days. I dropped them off last Wednesday and they weren't ready until the following Monday. So now they wanted me to wait another 5 days to fix their error. It was NOT acceptable. No refund, just offered to make me wait and blamed the people they use to wash their clothes which only pick up on Wednesdays!? I took my clothes and left as I don't mind if I have to drive across town for someone to do it right and with less turn around. This place is terrible, slow, and unwilling to do what it takes to fix their mistakes. And THEY make your clothes SMELL LIKE SMOKE! read more

Unfortunately they are priced about 30% higher than most others for suits and business attire, and the lead time is twice as long.
