They finally called. Just to say they won't help me…read more I went in for an evaluation a month ago. I sat with a counselor, opened up about everything--my grief, my depression, the loss of my brother. I was vulnerable, honest, and hopeful. She told me a doctor would call in two weeks to schedule an appointment. That felt like a long time, but I waited. Three weeks passed. No call. I left a voicemail. Still nothing. So I posted a review here, asking why no one followed up. And today--after a full month--I got a call. Not to help. Not to apologize. Just to say they "talked about it" and decided they wouldn't take my case. I asked why. The woman on the phone said they had no reason. Just... no. No explanation. No referral. No compassion. I came to them in pain. I asked for help. They made me wait, ignored me, and then slammed the door in my face. How do you treat a person like that? Maybe they read my review and, instead of thinking, "Let's actually help," they decided to punish me for speaking up. If I could set my one-star rating on fire, I would. You pieces of actual garbage. This place was a complete waste of time. I needed help. I was told I'd be scheduled with a doctor in two weeks--which was already strange. But it didn't matter, because they never called. Not once. No follow-up. No care. No humanity. Thanks for nothing

I would strongly caution anyone against using the Garfield location of Charak Center. Especially…read moreavoid Taquita the NP. This was one of the most disorganized and unprofessional healthcare experiences I have ever had. It should have been a warning sign that when I called for an initial appointment, they could get me in almost immediately. After going through several appointments there, I understand why schedules may be wide open. My experience with the nurse practitioner, Taquita, was extremely poor. She told me she needed approval from the medical director for my medication and said she would call me by the end of the day. She never did. On more than one occasion, I went to the pharmacy only to find that the wrong medication had been sent in or that the prescription issue had not been handled properly. Basic follow-through was lacking. Two of my three appointments were telehealth. For one appointment, I was told I would receive the link by text. My appointment time arrived, and no link had been sent. I called the office to ask for it. Only then did I receive the link. When I logged on, the provider appeared irritated and barked, "CAN I HELP YOU?" as if I was inconveniencing her by attending the appointment she had scheduled. The appointment itself was tense and uncomfortable. Taquita was rude, abrupt, and abrasive. When I explained that the wrong prescription had been sent the previous week, she seemed annoyed rather than concerned. At one point there was silence, and I thought the appointment was over. She got her response to her "CAN I HELP YOU" after all. As I was about to log off, she suddenly snapped, asking if I wanted to be switched to a different provider. It was startling and completely inappropriate. Patients should not be yelled at or treated like a nuisance for asking basic questions about their care. There was also confusion regarding paperwork. I have Medicaid, and I was told by the front desk that Medicaid would cover the forms I needed completed. However, Taquita kept telling me I would need to pay out of pocket. That contradiction should not have happened, and it added to the overall impression that this office is more focused on extracting fees than providing organized, respectful care. She seemed mad that I asked for a link to my scheduled appointment and wanted to retaliate by forcing me to pay. The front desk also did not inspire confidence. I overheard a receptionist make a disparaging comment about a patient, saying she could not believe that patient "even has a car." Given that many patients at this location appear to rely on Medicaid or public assistance, that kind of remark was especially inappropriate. People seeking mental health care should not be mocked by staff. After the telehealth appointment where Taquita failed to send the link on time and then treated me poorly, I received a text asking whether I had requested a new provider. The entire thing felt backward. The issue was not that I was difficult. The issue was that the provider was late, unprepared, failed to follow through, sent or discussed incorrect medication, and then acted offended when I raised legitimate concerns so transferred me to a new provider. Mental health patients deserve professionalism, dignity, and basic competence. This office did not provide that. The Garfield location felt GHETTO, chaotic, disrespectful, and poorly managed. I would not recommend it to anyone who needs reliable care, timely follow-through, or a provider who can communicate respectfully. Steer clear.

I lost the ability to speak 10 years ago, so I print notes explaining who I am and why I am there…read more 3 women at Charak in Garfield Hts. refused to even unfold the paper to read what was written and treated me like shlt to the point I was about to make national news. They are aware of the situation. Went there to get off the narcotics from cancer treatment and 3 women refused to even make an attempt to help. I had all my medical records that the intake person refused to look at forcing me to type multiple meds and medical history. The place needs to be shut down like the other illegitimate "healthcare" businesses. Giving them 1 star was the hardest thing I have done in a long time.
