We paid a good part & they helped with the rest but no record of it at all but we were suppose to have it .I questioned them on keeping financial records for donations but got nothing except cant adopt unless we get proof. We called the vet who faxed the proof over & on the paper was ANIMAL WELFARE LEAGUE name so again we should keep records but they don't keep records where their $ goes. Then more questions after she had the proof .! Jump through hoops more or less .Should have more bonding time with the older cats in the big colonies & separate alone time in a room. Not with 8 other cats.cant get a cats attention during feeding time & a bunch of other cats running all around.. they don't tell u about a wellness check needed within a month & they will call the vet to make sure we took him .The cat we adopted just had a wellness in April she saud but needed one by end of June, once a,year which was not a,year at all but that was another 70$ the vet looks at him ,listens to his heart & sees if hes well .Animal league could so that there. If we didn't take him they would take the cat fr us .like she had some real issues of rudeness !!!! Every one else was fantastic. Bethenny the CEO .is very dishonest. My parents adopted a 2-year-old French Bulldog (Destinee but renamed Della) from One of A Kind pet…read moreRescue on Thursday 04/30/26. When we arrived at the facility, we were smitten with her and after hearing that she was a puppy mill mama, my Mom and Dad were so excited to give her a life of love that she deserved. They had a meet and greet with Della and their current dog Gertie at 6pm and then proceeded with the adoption. Lucy, the person helping with the adoption, told us Della wasn't eating since surgery but assured us that this was because of her recent spay the day prior. Della had medical issues since the adoption. On Friday, my parents took Della to the vet for a check-up because of her continued lack of appetite and because Lucy recommended getting her established with their vet. By Saturday she needed to be seen again because her incision had become swollen, red, was seeping. Also, she appeared to be in heat as she had a little bit of blood coming from her vulva. At this point my parents called One of A Kind Pets as directed (as this was an issue from the surgery), however, there was no one available on Saturday so they took her back to their vet office for emergency treatment. Della was treated with a shot of antibiotics, medication to help with her appetite, pain medication, and probiotics. The vet said that Della's hormones may have been causing the small drips of bleeding that they were seeing. Sunday and Monday she seemed to be doing a bit better; she began to eat and started playing a little too; we were all so happy that she seemed to be feeling better. Then, the worst imaginable happened. On 05/06/26, I arrived at my parents' house to check in and while I was visiting Della began hemorrhaging from her vulva. We immediately took her to the vet who had to do emergency surgery (we got her there within 10 minutes). The vet there was willing and my parents were willing to do whatever to save her life. The vet even had a vet tech go to her house to get her own dog to give Della a blood transfusion in attempt to save her life. However, upon opening her up, the vet told my mother "I have never seen anything like it in 20yrs." The damage was irreparable and she recommended that she be put to sleep. The vet said that Della had developed an extremely large abscess that was likely a result of her being spayed when she was actively in heat. She said that spaying a dog when it is in heat is not indicated, as it is a common occurrence for an abscess to develop. I am horrified that a rescue clinic that is in the market of "saving animals" would be doing surgeries on dogs when contraindicated. Not only did poor Della suffer as a result of a poor clinical/medical decision but my 75-year-old parents and I have too. Della deserved a happy life after the one she started with. And then for her to suffer in this way as a result of the clinic's poor decision is truly inhumane. This was such a terrible experience that I'm not certain I will ever have the heart to adopt an animal again from a shelter. And I am a true animal lover. I have four dogs and a cat of my own. But, this experience, it's one I won't ever forget. It was so traumatizing to see Della hemorrhage and feel so helpless in that moment because I couldn't help her. I would rather go to a breeder than back to a shelter that is "adopting" dogs out that are sick and have been given botched "vet services" that ultimately will kill them. My parents did their very best. Della wasn't left alone since she was adopted, they loved on her, they got her vet care, and it still wasn't enough because of the lack of care/consideration she received at One of a Kind Pet. I'm devastated to even think about all the dogs and cats currently at your facility now. I hope and pray that none of them suffer in this way, but I am fearful that they will. I would like to see whomever made the decision spay Della when it was contraindicated no longer doing procedures at your clinic. I'd like to see my parents compensated for the money spent on Della's adoption and care due to the clinic's poor clinical decision-making skills and the trauma that they've endured losing their pet in this way. Someone needs to be held accountable and I am absolutely disgusted that no one from One of A Kind Pet has yet to reach out to my parents about the situation. We have emailed and messaged the executive director (as directed by volunteers) and made several phone calls with no response. I am completely heartbroken for Della, Gertie (who has been looking for her), and my poor 75-year-old parents who were trying to help a pet in need get a life she deserved and now grieving her death.

In mid-December, my husband found an English bulldog named Olive on the Petfinder website. On…read moreFoster Farm's website, I filled out an application to adopt Olive. The application asked questions about our employment, housing, any fences, how we would give the dog exercise and other necessary things, our current pets and their veterinarian records, any experience that we have with this dog breed, if we have ever given up any past pet, etcetera. I spent time to write many thoughtful paragraphs of text. Two days later, the Foster Farm contacted me and said that they wanted me to adopt Olive, pending my answer about an invisible fence (which they do NOT allow). (I read other Yelpers' 1-star reviews about filling out applications and never hearing back. The Foster Farm is run by volunteers who have jobs or are in school, so they are low on time, but they should get back to you.) On that same day, they approved my application for Olive, and they scheduled my husband's and my first meet-and-greet/adoption with Olive for a few days later at our request to fit our schedule. In the meantime, the Foster Farm answered our questions via email about what size of collar and carrier to buy, what type of food to buy, etc., so we could shop in advance. They also emailed me photos of Olive. The adoption fee was $325, which was supposed to include vaccinations (DAPP and rabies), a microchip, deworming, and a future spay. Payment options were PayPal, Venmo, or a check. On December 22, a Foster Farm employee drove out to our house with Olive. She wore a face mask as a COVID-19 precaution. She allowed us to spend time with Olive on our couch, and she spent time to answer our questions before she left. I am deducting one star from my review, because the Foster Farm gave us *NO MEDICAL RECORDS.* I asked for medical records multiple times, particularly for the vaccines, and they said that they did not have them. The Foster Farm had told me that they would pay for a clinic to do Olive's rabies vaccine, which was included in the adoption fee, but the clinic for some reason did not do the rabies vaccine. With ZERO medical records for Olive other than for the spaying, I paid my veterinarian to do ALL vaccinations from scratch. The clinic did scan a microchip and give me the number at my request. In addition, the Foster Farm had told me that they had dewormed Olive, but when I took Olive to my veterinarian for a fecal test, the test came back positive for intestinal parasites, and I paid my vet to deworm Olive. Maybe the Foster Farm had dewormed the dog, but she contracted parasites again from other dogs in different foster homes or when she was adopted by another family? Olive is a very nervous dog who needs to be housetrained, but she has a very sweet personality, and she gets along with our cats (yay!). I think that the Foster Farm placed her into the right home, and their fee of $325 for a bulldog was very reasonable. For those reasons, I will award 4 stars. But I do recommend that the Foster Farm pass along vaccination records.

I will always be grateful for them helping us find our new family friend! This shelter really does everything they can for all of their animals to keep them safe and healthy! They are incredibly hard working and committed to their animals in a loving and supportive way; whether it taking them to the vet at any time of the day or night to helping mother dogs birth their puppies, they are right there caring for them every step of the way! They go above and beyond to rescue animals and take in any stray/surrender they can! That's how they found Minnie. They do their best to find their animals homes that will take care of their needs as well as work with the new families in any needs they have. They really know each and every one of the animals they care for by their personality and interests. These staff members have a personal relationship with these animals instead of only knowing them by a number or "name". I honestly am very proud of all their hard work, their abilities to conquer through anything and admire their passionate hearts! 5 stars is not a high enough award that this rescue deserves as they clearly do 10 star and above work! I hope you consider checking them out for a new furry friend and see all of the care they receive here!
