I got to see history and old uniforms that reminded me of movies and television shows featuring different wars and heroes from our history. I found out more about Eddie Rickenbacker, World War I aviator whose replica of his boyhood home on the ground while the original home on East Livingston Avenue is currently in decay and that needs to be saved because of the history of him. I was glad that to briefly meet Warren Motts, who started this museum in his home, and the land it is on was owned by a fellow veteran who leased the land to Mr. Motts for $1 year until his death and Mr. Motts and his museum own the land. I amazed on the sacrifices that they made to keep America the land of freedom and saddened on the soldiers who did not come home from duty in the services. Motts Military Museum is worth check out along in Groveport and the National Military Museum and Veteran's Memorial in Downtown Columbus. Mr. Motts and his volunteers of former soldiers and sailors keep the place going with history of the United States Military and the wars that the USA and world was in.

The permanent collect ranges from antiquity to pr sent (the museum was founded in 1878), and the CMA is host to several exhibits each year. My most recent visit treated me to Wild Earth: JB Blunk and Toshiko Takaezu. Things to know: * The CMA is part of the North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Association, a network of 1,470 art museums and galleries that offer reciprocal free entry to members of the museums in the network. Become a member/support your local art museum, especially if they are part of NARM. * The museum has a cafe, so feel free to make a day of your visit. * There are transportation options available to get to the museum, but it is also just a 20 minute walk from downtown. * There is a good deal of well done street art between downtown and the art center.

There's a lot of it, including handicap spots right up front. The museum is huge, way bigger than I expected, with two floors and different sections that go in order through history, which was really cool. It's also completely free to get in and park, which is a big plus. The kids loved the interactive exhibits, and the staff was really helpful and knew their stuff if you had questions. We grabbed food at the cafeteria and it wasn't bad at all. Definitely recommend, especially if you have kids and need something fun to do.

This is a cute little museum featuring exhibits, shows, and interactive stations related to…read morescience, history, technology, and more. There is a very nice little planetarium (the Scidome), and viewing a show is included in the price of admission. We saw "From Earth to the Universe," which provided a crash course on astronomy throughout history and a look at our galaxy and the universe. The first floor of the space features a lot of interactive and hands-on activities, such as building a circuit, learning about your body, building and racing cars from objects like Legos, plus a 6-and-under play area. The hot shop is also located in this area, and it was very interesting to watch them work with the hot glass (and a very pleasant space to be in on such a cold day!) Upstairs is a wealth of local and regional historical information for Newark and Licking County and its citizens and discoveries. A giant mastadon skull greets you as you come up the stairs, as the Burning Tree Mastadon was found in the county. The Jerrie Mock exhibit, complete with a flight simulator and a replica of her airplane, the Spirit of Columbus, was extremely popular with the kids. (Jerrie Mock, a Newark native, was the first woman to fly solo around the world). A little historic village, complete with cash registers, scales, and games is also available to walk through on this level. Given the weather, we didn't spend as much time out in the courtyard as we probably would have otherwise, but we definitely made it over to the building housing the interurban railway car, the back end of which you can walk in and look around the interior of. There's also a really well done mural on the topic out by the parking lot. Staff was friendly and welcoming, and the museum was clean and comfortable. There is plentiful parking outside. A small gift shop, including items made in the hot shop, is available near the entrance.

The Works is hands down a better experience than the other children's museum. This is now her favorite of the 3 places we've been. Unfortunately, the glass blowing was closed for routine maintenance & we have plans to return when open again. The bottom floor houses the small planetarium & hands on exhibits & play areas for kids & upstairs is more informative displays of the local area, the Works history & a brief technology over view. I've heard there's a café associated with the museum across the outdoor area but we didn't look into that the day we were there. 10/10 recommend a visit if you're in the area & looking for something new, fun & educational for kids to do.

The architecture and the gardens are incredible. I know this is an overused word, but the gardens are truly magical. There are mini gnomes, fairy gardens, and bee houses tucked in among the flowers. The Westcott House had fallen into disrepair over the years, and was restored in 2005 by the local non profit Westcott House Foundation. The Foundation now owns the property and preserves it as a museum, which is open to the public for tours. Tour tickets can be purchased online. Our tour guide was fantastic. She had so much knowledge about the house, the architectural style and the Westcott family. The tour was scheduled for 90 minutes, but I think she could have shared info with us all day! The museum gift shop had some beautiful items. Parking is available on the street in front of the museum.

Our only regret was not having more time to see all of the wings and exhibits COSI has to offer. I was surprised that for the ticket price they didn't include the Behind the Science of Pixar exhibit. Parking can easily be found in their underground garage that is nearly connected. We explored the museum with our two and four year olds- making our way between the engineering/innovators exhibit, young kiddo play area, and caught a science show on the main stage (they seem to keep it fairly booked with various topics throughout the day). They also offer a gift shop and a movie theatre for documentaries like a piece on Ohio's wildlife. Overall, a positive experience and I look forward to visiting again with more time.

This, to me, was ridiculous, and took away from the experience. The kids probably didn't care, but when you're a parent throwing money at a place, hand over fist, you at least would like it clean. Good lord, the gift shop... handfuls of target and dollar store crap your kids will bawl their eyes out for. Be prepared. You've seen everything there at half the price.
