I have been a student here for 3 1/2 years alternating between both campuses. The Newark one is my favorite, a fairly sized building where students come to work, study, and relax. I always went to the library there, students have some personal space and aren't crowded together like at main campus. If you call the # of the library, you can reserve a room to get your work done. They have a career center where they give mock interviews, comes in handy since I also utilized it for resume help. Inside there is a small room where students can play pool, watch TV, or play piano to kill some time. Parking is not a problem and I always prefer the space on the right of the campus. If you want some fresh air, you can take a walk around campus. The food at Newark is ok, but I highly recommend to drive to "The Block," which is the Fremont shopping district. You could buy from Costco, Panda Express, or even Wendy's besides the overpriced food. For students or future students reading this, try to take all of your classes here! No need to walk all the way up the hill like the main campus. All of the classes are next to each other with lots of places to study or relax. Every now and then they hold events like a Career fair or UC/CSU workshops, those are very useful and I recommend attending those. There is nothing wrong with attending a community classes, classes are cheaper and you get to redeem yourself from any mistakes of the past. read more

My daughter is an ASL student. Her career to become and interpreter is Amazing! She has so much passion in her heart when she signs. I cry bc she so Amazing. She is going to sky rocket in her Career as she is doing as a student. Today they are having a Deaf Event. Shes up and we drove to Ohlone together. She at the registration desk. Definitely the better "Ohlone." The smaller campus makes it easier to get around. (But classes are limited.) The classrooms are relatively new and are way nicer than the Fremont location. For ex: nice swivel office chairs for students, white boards in all the classrooms, and overall has a nice modern look to it. Also the moving solar panels are awesome! read more

You know when hella ghetto guys see a really hot girl and say, "Dayammm...you's fine!" (Sorry for the stereotyping.) That's basically what I thought in my head when I finally found a parking space here and entered the building. (Just the "dayam" part though.) This place is beautiful. I don't even mind that it's much further away (for me) than the main campus. Everything's sparkly and clean and super eco-friendly (or at least, it seems so from the flier I read in the bathroom--solar panels, recycled material making up the insulation in the walls, as well as the floor...). I haven't ordered any food here yet, but they apparently serve Peet's coffee, and there are a bunch of places to sit and study. The bathrooms are very, very clean (although because the toilets are low flush, some people tend to not look behind them to see if it really flushed everything...thanks, guys. or well, girls) and there are a ton of stalls. People are friendly, and I really can't say it enough. I'm very impressed by the facilities. They look awesome. I'm only taking one class here, but it looks like it's going to be really fun. I've been sorely missing Exercise Biology so I've been pouncing on every single class that even remotely reminds me of it, so I like all the equipment they have. :D I think it's going to make for some awesome labs. I would hella study here if I didn't have almost-back to back classes between here and the main campus. It's sunny and happy, which I guess could be bad if you get the urge to start frolicking in the field outside. Definitely take a class here if you have the chance! read more

I am writing this review from the Newark campus. What a coincidence! This is an awesome campus. It still looks new both inside and outside. The classrooms are all on the second floor of the campus and are very well designed. Definitely state of the art. The bathrooms are always clean and not filthy dirty as you might encounter at the main campus. I have had the great experience of having taken a couple of classes from this campus. Must mention that there are power outlets in every single classroom and multiple power outlets too. Both on the floor and on the walls. If you are taking Microsoft Office, you can also borrow a laptop from Mr. Rick Arellano or Master Rick as he likes to be called. Just don't call him Mr. Arellano. He doesn't like it at all as he will tell you on the first day of class. I definitely love this campus as it is newer and the accessibility to the building is closer than at the main campus. read more

Had a meeting here the other day. Bummed that the parking lot was small and I still had to pay $2 but it's a lot cheaper than the UC I used to go to. I was also surprised to find... yes WI FI in the room I was in. I was impressed looks really new and clean. My meeting was at 3:00pm so parking was not an issue. Overall it was a nice building and I got easy directions of it being behind Newark Memorial High School. I wouldn't mind taking classes here if I had to. read more

It was my first time taking a class at this location and I absolutely love the facility. Parking is easy and all of the classes are indoor. I like the small cafe being right in the middle of the building which is very convenient to grab a quick snack and the restrooms are huge I would take the few remaining courses at this location before I transfer :) read more

If you're reading this and plan on going to Ohlone college for school, try to get as many classes as you can at this campus. All the green factors have been mentioned in the previous reviews, so I'm just going to skip over them (but it's mind-blowing just how eco-friendly this campus is, there's even a virtual tour you can take on touch screens inside). If you're going to community college, this is where you want to be. I spent my first year at the main campus which, in short is depressing as hell (the hike of doom, the lack of parking, the dull teachers, and the vast amount of students that just dick around, it all adds up. Especially when those students end up in your group for a group project). The teachers here are much livelier (I'm not saying all of them are great, you should still ratemyprofessor when possible), the campus actually seems more of a university and get this-the paint they used inside the building and classrooms were specifically chosen for the ideal study environment. They have multiple wings and the facilities are amazing, so take the time to walk and explore the place. If you're going into things like respiratory therapy, they actually have specific things like an automated dummy for that's controlled from another room for a more hands on experience, but even if you're just here for your science, speech, or math class, the environment is just as beneficial. There's a learning center/library area that you can check out a laptop with your student ID so you have the comfort of sitting wherever you want to study. Overall I just really recommend this campus because it doesn't feel like you're being punished for going to community college. (By the way, if you're taking classes here in the summer, be sure to bring your sunglasses. The concrete will be BLINDING around noon/afternoon. It's for a good reason though, they chose a lighter colored concrete to reflect off as much sunlight as possible to hit the solar panels.) read more

I just started going to school her for the respiratory therapist program, and I love it. Everything is new, green, and beautiful. I definitely feel that it is a more respected building because most of the professional programs hold classes at this new center (respiratory therapy, physical therapy, nursing, etc), so there are people who want to be there. I am definitely proud and honored to be going to this school because it is a LEED Platinum Certified Building! There are only very few in the world. Feels great to be green! read more

i like this campus a lot. It's a green facility which means a lot of natural light, eco friendly bins for waste everywhere, and even green restrooms (low flush toilets, water saving sinks etc). pretty cool. The classrooms are equipped with new desks, white boards, and projectors. it makes you comfortable to be in class for four hours lol. on each floor they have little lounge areas set up where you can just relax with your lap top and enjoy the wifi. it's such a smart idea. you all know that when there are huge masses of people in one area "studying" it tends to get unproductive or uncomfortable. here you can get your peace and quiet OR if you really need to socialize you can get that too. Parking is only 2$. CASH ONLY. oof i learned that the hard way my first time here. :(. very impressive ohlone. can't even tell you're a JC sometimes. read more

It has only been three days and I have to say it is a wonderful place. Props to Ohlone for building such an awesome building. All I have to say is this building is clean, modern, and spacious. Classrooms are well designed. Chairs are comfy, tables are wide, unlike in a lecture hall where the tables are small that you can only fit one notebook on the table. Bathrooms are clean. I mean like so clean, you could sleep on the tiled floor if you wanted (just an exaggeration). But, you SELDOM see such clean restrooms at a college or university, unless it is some research building where there is minimal student traffic. I just bought a snack from the snack bar today, personnel are wonderful. They are friendly and very briefly joked with me a little as I decided on my little snack for my class break. Funny thing is, is that after seeing the Newark campus, it's hard to take classes at the Fremont campus. Nothing against the "mother" campus, but after being comfortable inside the Newark campus, it is hard to be in the Fremont Campus. I have to hand it to you Ohlone, you made an awesome investment in a wonderful building, conducive to learning. I hope this building stays like this for a while. PS.. I wish I could utilize the gym facilities there at Newark. Unfortunately, I don't have any gym classes so it is a miss on that. But just judging from what I see in the gym facilities, I'll definitely take them over 24 hour fitness any day. read more

This is a great campus, it is really great that Ohlone College have one of these in the San Francisco East Bay Area. I had my last semester on Spring 2009 to satisfy my History Requirement of the lower division GED, so that I can transfer to CSUEB. I really liked the facilities, and it is really relaxing and quiet when you do your studies here. New hallway, building, eco-friendly AC and heating system, new classrooms and conference rooms. I spend my time studying because of the nice view and there's not a lot of noise. The building has wifi, so I can study where I want. I liked the Learning Center because you can choose to study in the study rooms(for 2 or more people), and you can bring some food or drink in the Learning Center (Don't the librarians see you eating though, but they won't mind. Just keep it clean after you are finished eating and drinking.) Also, they have a new gym and all of the healthcare facilities and classes, networking classes and other technology classes are located on this campus. Parking is better than the main Fremont campus. I will definitely come back to study some assignments as I transferred to CSUEB this Fall 2009. It's just the environment is so quiet, and the view is really beautiful. I am still proud and honored for having this kind of facilities in Fremont and an Ohlone Alumni. read more

AIR CONDITIONING IS SO LOVELY IN THE SUMMER. Except in the morning. That shit is cold. Very eco-friendly. But the parking lots are TINY. You can find parking easily without having to pay for the $20 permit by walking about 10 minutes. Whatever floats your boat. read more

Will never take a class here again. Paid 340$ for a math class! Learned nothing! Teacher spent the entire 3 hours of class silently solving equations on the board with no explaining. Plus I got two parking tickets for 97$ because I put my eco car in charging without a parking permit once! read more

I really have nothing bad to say about this facility. This Newark campus of Ohlone College is a modern state-of-the-art facility with plenty of lighting throughout the building with large-glass window panes. The technology in each room and just throughout the facility itself is also modern, with full AV equipment built into each room. On top of all of that, the lobby is spacious and is a great meeting place for students, AND THERE IS FREE WIRELESS for *anyone*, no login credentials necessary. Parking is free on weekends I believe (I know it is free on sundays). I believe during the regular weekday it's a $2 permit. If you want, you can just park down the street and walk about 10 minutes. All in all, great campus; great meeting location. read more

I haven't taken every course from the entire catalog, but there is only so much I can say about all the classes I have taken. I do like the cafe's food. I had coffee all the time but everything looks nice and clean. I hope they keep it up. read more

This nursing program needs to nurse their staff w/ knowledge about human kindness before they admit another student. I should've known better when the department assistant was completely inconsiderate and purposely unhelpful. I've given them more than 3 chances to improve their educational services and student assistance to no avail. I can't imagine a department w/ no commmon courtesy or manners attempting to teach me bed side manner. read more

First LEED platinum building in the US. A good educational architecture does make a difference in students' mentality in learning. This is my favorite studying spot because its nicely designed and people can't help but to be pleasant using this facility. They adore the building. read more

Besides a Comp Sci class, I have only taken Yoga or Yoga and Meditation through this campus and it has been a great experience overall. I highly recommend looking for a class by Vicki Lopez at Ohlone Newark if you want to change your mind and body for the better. read more

I was in her 151a I give her five stars because she is a great teacher and she really helps you understand the equations and even though she had a short amount of time to teach us each chapter. Waiting for my class to start. This review is purely about the campus not the staff. There is a small cafe that sells drinks, coffee, snacks, desserts, sandwhiches, salads, sushi and on the go items. There is a library open Monday-Thursday. I wish this campus had the snack shop and library open on fridays, there are still students who would like to come and study. read more

i try to take all my classes here if possible. this campus is a lot nicer, clean and not as many stairs. the few things that i hate is parking can be a BITCH, but as the semester dies off parking is easier to find. the campus patrol are also very STRICT about the parking permits and daily tickets. they go out there like every two hrs to write tickets! boo them! read more

I absolutely love this campus! It's sooo much better than the Fremont one. Last semester I had all classes at the Fremont campus and honestly it's too confusing! So this semester I made sure to go to Newark. It's very personal. I feel like I can just sit there with my friends and talk and do homework and it's cozy. It's also very eco friendly which is awesome! I absolutely will keep going to this campus as long as I can. read more

This campus is pretty awesome. I too try to take as many classes as I can here but being a student assist at the main campus, this is sometimes an inconvenience (I like going to work right before or right after classes). However it is only about 15 minutes driving time from here to the main campus. You can take a bus from here to the main campus too (it was the 217 but I forgot what number they changed it to). It is always extremely clean especially in the library (unlike the main campus one). The noise level in there is quiet too as the main librarian that is always there keeps a good handle on it. My only complaint is the parking and the parking meters. The meters only take quarters and $1 bills; no credit cards. I think the best thing about this campus is the maturity level of students. Most are in the nursing program or some other science related program so they are serious about getting their college work done. They are all very nice and polite too. I wish I could take ALL my classes here because every one of them has been filled with quiet, polite students! Everyone will be going here in the summers though as the main campus will be closed, so this could change! I really hope it doesn't. Oh yeah. The food here is a little pricey but the guy that owns it is really nice and social with students and staff (especially the regulars and student workers). He takes the time to ask your name and always ask you how you are. Love that dude! Just wish his food was a little cheaper. read more
